That Pedal Show - Joey Landreth Special: New Pedalboard, Performances & More!
Музыка
Welcome to That Pedal Show! Please subscribe to our channel and visit our store www.thatpedalshowstore.com
We are absolutely delighted to bring you this show with our vey special guest, Joey Landreth.
We first met Joey in 2016 having stumbled across his band at the time, The Brothers Landreth and their spectacularly good album, Let It Lie.
For 2017 Joey is embarking on a solo career with his debut release, Whiskey. We just don’t have enough good words to say about the man - please check out his online world here: www.joeylandreth.com/
In today’s show, we take a quick run through Joey’s new pedalboard (built by Dan of course). It was finished about an hour before we started shooting, so these are Joey’s first impressions with it.
Joey is playing his Collings I-35 LC, Suhr Classic Pro and Waterloo WL-14 guitars. He even treats us to a couple of songs (recorded at the other end of That Pedal Shed!).

Man, when Dan gets emotional I went with him. Love this show so much.
The bromance is strong in this one.
51:21 This was easily the best moment on TPS history. As soon as he started playing I literally closed my eyes and went somewhere else and as I opened them I see Dan doing the exact same. That is a one special guitar player, not a lot can do that . Daam....
You have no idea how many times I have listened, and re-listened to the part that begins around 51:20. The SlideRIG with the Timeline and Trelicopter.... It is the most amazing sound ever! I need this wonderful perfection in my life on a daily basis!!
@danabnormal5892

Kyle Burdy trelicopter is just ridiculous. If you don't have one, get one. I have several expensive pedals but the trelicopter is the one I can not live without. Put a tad of compression, overdrive and delay before it and it is heaven
When a player THIS good is THAT nice of a guy....makes fans/friends for life. Thanks so much for bringing him to us, you, two other amazingly nice and great players!!

+Jonathan Burton Thanks Jonathan. We're so glad that so many people are getting it the way we do. We can't do this every week, sadly, so we'll just take it when it comes. :0)
Couldn't sleep tonight so I put this on for a replay. Man, the tone in this show doesn't age. The tasteful references to the great North American songbook that Joey works into his vamping are astonishing. That's a man's music. Grown up.
I literally cried while watching this. Music should be like this. It should move you, man. They were tears of joy and happiness, too. The best kind.
15:36 "I got a question.Mick here" "Helloooooo!!!!" Cracked me up, loved the guy right there!!!!!@
Back after all these years. I consider this to be THE BEST episode of TPS. This was the first time I ever saw Joey. I literately teared up during Whiskey. Someday this will end up end a historical cultural library. This show is a true classic.
Bloody Hell. Thanks guys for introducing us to this Guy. He is simply amazing. I can't wait to get lost in his music this weekend. I'm floored. I have learned so much and broadened my musical horizons so much since i discovered That Pedal Show.

This seriously is the best gear show on KZread. Thank you guys for what you do.
this dude is from another planet! He's already gone into the history of electric guitar! He is a LEGEND!
That man could totally just release a double side album of noodling. I'd buy it!!! Gutted I missed tickets to the live show. Good luck keeping up with him fellas!
That tone at 51:00 with the comp, trem, and delay was OBSCENE!

Kley De Jong I was thinking that was possibly the best tone I'd ever heard then a few seconds later, dan or mick declared it the best tone they'd ever had in that room..

You are right! The laughter and crying in the room demonstrate this! Awesome! Wonderful! Amazing!
As a guitarist, when I see or hear other guitar players part of me is wondering what chord, which scale, how do they do that, can I steal it and use it. With Joey Landreth there was none of that- I couldn't care less how he does what he does, I'm just glad he's doing it. He seems to transcend the instrument to make such a beautiful sound that you just don't want to stop.
Only 10 minutes in... This has to be one of the Best That Pedal Shows ever. Absolutely Stella. Thanks guys

Absolutely our pleasure Jase. This was a lot of fun!
What I love about this show is the fact that both the presenters (and their guests) seem to really enjoy what they are doing and really convey this on their channel.
I have watched this episode, along with the harmonic trem episode over 10 times each and it just never gets old. I’m like Dan, I literally get tears in my eyes when Joey plays.
Just watched this and IMMEDIATELY bought The Bros. Landreth and Joey's solo cd! Wow this is what I've been looking for!
So happy this is so long
@Marc-uw4mt

That´s what she said.
What I find so amazing about players like Joey is that if you listen to the same solo 10 times, you'll hear 10 different things going on, and you'll find all sorts of melodic gems you didn't know where there. And then, every time you hear them play it, you learn something new from it. It's that quality, in my opinion, that makes players, songs, licks, etc. really "Timeless". An album like "Let It Lie" ? I don't think I'll ever put it down! And "Whiskey" is the same way. And then of course as a player, THOSE TONES... I copied down some settings from this video for sure haha. And in typical That Pedal Show fashion, I learned a new trick I had never thought of (Tremolo after Delay), and I immediately heard a massive improvement in tone, as well as excitement from my rig today. So for that, and for always posting such amazing content, Thank you, Dan and Mick. Thank you for what you do.

I just watched 15 minutes and I laugh every time I hear Mick shouting / asking from the back 'Hey Dan! Ask him about the tuning!' - 'Hey Dan ask him about the amps we're using!'... I'm so grateful to you guys first for the free information you're providing, secondly for your characters, and finally for the good time i'm having watching you. Cheers!

+Tim E. you're very welcome :)
Mick, I just love the audio treatment on this mix. Joey's voice sits so beautifully when he sings.
I am floored. The raw true heart that all of you displayed in this video spears me to the core of my being. Anchored by Joey Landreth's soul inspiring playing, Dan and Mick's reactions mirror my own in an ultimately entertaining presentation. I will watch this video every day for the rest of my life and it will make me a better man. I'm only a little drunk!
I just spent the entire hour trying to arrange 8 pedals on a board while listening and watching this. Dan, can you come help me? Beautiful playing and what an awesome tone! The motivation I needed to finally practice my slide playing with some degree of seriousness.
I have loved every second of this, and I haven't been this moved buy someone's playing for a really long time. Joey is such a tasteful player and an amazing guy.
I keep coming back to this video. Luckily I get to see Joey play in Vancouver in just over a week. But it was you guys that introduced me to my fellow Canadian and I can't thank you enough. I feel like I'm coming in at the ground floor of something that is about to explode onto the public consciousness. He's so good.
It took just short of 52 minutes but I think I saw Dan close his eyes and leave planet Earth.... Digging out my slides (yes plural) tomorrow for sure 👍
Love the SANDLOT reference!! "you're killing me Smalls..."
YES!!! We've been waiting almost a year for this video! I'm thinking back to how blown away I was at that show in Oxfordshire last year. It was great to meet Joey and Mick there and we're looking forward to the next time we can meet. A fascinating, great sounding video as always guys - thank you!

This is the best TPS episode so far, and it's literally one of the best KZread videos-of any sort-I've ever seen. Holy crap.
It's rare that such facility intersects with the deep musicality and emotional openness that Joey possesses. I really don't know what else to say.

Watched this about a dozen times now. Not heard these sounds from a guitar before. Dan's right it's so good!
Clearly one if the best episodes, ever. Massive tone and chops. Thank you so much for having him in the show!
Joey Landreth is the duuuude, respect to his work and skills
Awesome!! Thank you for another chance to see Mr Landreth, and nice work on talking about the pedals and which and why he uses them, great fun.
Bless that Joey Landreth - met him last night when he came down with my friend Nigel and jammed with our band - The Way Back - in St Albans. Lovely bloke, easy-going, no ego. Jesus, this guy has so much soul - in his singing and in his playing - and some great songs to boot. Joey and The Bros Landreth deserve to be super successful. Bring on those Americana Awards and the CMAs. Great show guys - one of the best so far.
I wanted to cry almost every time he played a bit. So unbelievably moving and emotional. So glad you guys had Joey on. Thank you. If he comes around new england (usa), I'll def. be there!!
I just finished watching the whole video and I love how emotional you guys got. That's why I love watching your channel, the average person just doesn't understand how excited a great tone and a very talented player can make us!
Man. I lost it at the same moment you guys did. His playing is just so inspiring. Literally in tears. Thanks so much for having him on. Such an inspiration.
Joey Landreth is an extraordinary singer, song writer and guitarist. I'm so happy to have him introduced to me via That Pedal Show. Please Joey, on your next tour of the US, play a gig or two in Ohio, preferably near Cleveland. Lastly, is it just me or did Joey's song, "Our Love," remind anyone else of another Canadian singer/singer writer extraordinaire Joni Mitchell? The influence is unmistakable IMHO.
WOW! I can't actually say anything else that wouldn't be an expletive filled exclamation of utter flabbergastery! What a player, what a sound, and what a really nice, funny and humble guy! Thanks Dan and Mick, and thanks Joey for getting right into the TPS spirit. You guys keep me sane.

Let it Lie is possibly one of my favourite albums of all time. Incredible songsmithery.
Anyone else keep coming back to this? I usually go for heavier players but this man puts soul in every note... The bros album is a slow burn...but feck does it burn deep when it gets ya... more of a tattoo than a burn.
Met Joey and The Board at the gig in Lewes on Friday night ... speechless! Sublime tones, matchless guitar playing, tear-inducing singing and a truly genuine bloke. Without question the best few quid I've spent in a long time. Wishes not fully satisfied - not quite enough gorgeous slide & not quite enough fuzz/dirt, but hey, always got the next Bros Landreth band gig in Brighton to look forward to ...

Thank You so much for having Joe on your show and introducing me to a whole new sound and style. PS, I downloaded his music on Spotify during the show. Cheers again and keep up the great work.
Joey Landreth is just amazing. I have new inspiration. Truly awe inspiring! Thanks guys for opening new doors!
Seen Joey Landreth live twice now (last night in Manchester UK) and his playing and tone are just exceptional and made even better with that soulful voice. Absolute class
Outstanding fellas, thank you so much for this Joey Landreth has the dam touch and the perfect pitch for vocals.

Thank you for showing me this awesome artist. I'm blown away by his guitar playing and his music. Amazing!

I picked up Joey’s latest CD, Whiskey, after watching this particular video. The title track isn’t the only excellent song on the album, but, for me, it brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it. It is what’s great about music... you can’t escape the emotion of someone’s story. It demands a response. Thanks to all of you guys for expanding my ear. I gotta go write a song now...

That Pedal Show NO such expectation for this format/magnitude to become the norm. You guys served us fans a gourmet meal this week, but you make a mean ham sandwich too! What meant more than "hey, all the shows will be like this!" Is that this show by itself was a real accomplishment for you two gents, and I congratulate you. My wife would actually really be into this episode, she loves the romantic comedies. Some serious bromance going on here. Jesus H Christ... Got home from work early and put the weekly edition of That Pedal Show on.That must've been something else being in the room while that was going on.Incredible sound!!!
About 5 minutes in I paused the video, restrung/ retuned a guitar, dusted off the ol' slide and now I'm hooked! I just gotta figure out how to sound like that now...
Whenever I need a good peaceful moment to myself (or even a good cry) I come back and listen to the tone at 51:20 with the compression, delay, and verb. And I am transported
Yeah! This is soo cool! Love the guy! Waiting for ages to see this! Thanks mates! Cheers!
currently my favourite album. Such brilliant song writing and man the guitar parts are freaking awesome. Certainly not a day goes by without playing a song from the album. What a time to be alive!!!!
