I hosted MAB at my music store twice when he was endorsing Washburn guitars and Randall amps. We had a local little black guy who is an incredible jazz guitarist and when Michael met him, they went in one of our teaching rooms and played for hours. Within a month, a Washburn 335 hollowbody showed up thru UPS with a short note in it basically saying how much he enjoyed playing with the guy and to give him this guitar. MAB is a phenomenal guitarist and a genuinely nice guy.

He is absolutely a very nice guy.. I've met him way back in the nitro days and he was an amazing guy.. smiled the whole time and he acted more in a daze about meeting his fans than we were to meet him.. very genuine guy.. and he is a monster on the guitar man.. but yes, you're 100 percent right about him.. I agree.. he's a great soul.. and an amazing player..

Mike seemed very focused as a person, he would never waste his time with drugs and alcohol, he worked hard at music and the result is something very entertaining, exciting, and intense!

@@gluph5580 Yes, I’m the same person. I hosted many guitar clinics when I was in the retail musical instrument business. Michael was an outstanding guest that we hosted twice and when he met our local guitar phenom Spanky, he was blown away how good he was. Spanky’s real name was Eddie Alford and sadly, someone let me know that Spanky had passed away. I hadn’t seen him in years. Eddie has several utube videos and u can look him up. Cheers!

Michael is a great guy. Had the chance to see him play and meet him twice. Got a few autographs and he even stayed and talked to my friends and I for like an hour after he was done playing.

***** Yeah, really a nice guy. I met him a few years back at the musikmesse in germany. I asked him something and he didn't quiet get what i wanted to know. He was so patient. He could have just buzzed me off, instead he just said "I have no clue what you're talking about". And i started again. It's much easier to write something down than say it if it isn't your mother tongue.
MAB seems like a really nice guy.....

Yago Reck LOL Spinal Tap gone wrong, more like it... Give me EVH,George Lynch,Yngwie anytime instead of this freak. Hello from France :)
@TheYagomestre
9 жыл бұрын
EVH is god, period. BUT is not most technical than MAB. Also George Lynch is not even close to MAB in technique, and even Yngwie can't match MAB in speed, skills and difficulty level. Jason Becker is one of the greatest ever, one of the best sweepings and other-types-of-arpeggios. But I'm sorry fellas, they can't match the two-handed ambidextrous play of MAB.
@ricardin1110
9 жыл бұрын
Yago Reck Shawn Lane was way more technical, and nowadays Guthrie Govan and Bumblefoot beat him that as well. MAB's triumph for me is his sweep picking, have never seen anyone do it as clean as he does

Ricardo Costa Exactly. Michael himself called Shawn the Jedi Master of guitar.
This guy is like Dimebag. A true guitar god and rockstar in every respect but a down to earth gentleman that is easily approachable.
I remember seeing this guy demo his "double" neck guitar(s) back in '86-87 (yep, he's a vet and he's aged well) at this guitar shop a few miles from L.A. Airport. It was a real small shop and he had this simple rig set up, but his sound was huge. I remember just sitting there on the floor mesmerized seeing someone play ambidextrously and simultaneously. Lost track of him over the years thanks to the fickle-mindedness of the public and the show-biz media, but glad to see he's still doing his thing, and not broke!! He's the real deal.
This guy is genuinely underrated. I barely hear anything about him. But he could hold his own next to any of the big name guitarists. I personally think he would embarrass a lot of higher earning players. His tribute songs to other players fairly well encompass their entire career in a single song. Incredible player.

+Billbill80s To get a lot of attention as a guitarist, you have to be in a band that plays popular original songs. MAB is pretty much known only to other guitarists due to this fact. I don't think he would "embarrass" other guitarists with his playing any more than how much they embarrass him with their superior songwriting abilities.

This guy actually has got nothing. What he play is just technical skill where most guitarist is thinking they're playing extraordinarily. But too sad they were overcome by their egos until they never ever realise that they are actually MAKING NOISE.That not playing or skill!Ritche Blackmore laughed his balls out looking at these clown.Who would wanna hire this guy?He should be a bouncer instead of playing making horrible noise.
@Billbill80s

Saz Ad I see. He may not be everyone's preference, but he has undeniably got the technique of many guitarists down to a T. There is no denying that.

@paulthoresen8241
7 жыл бұрын
Your opinion isn't proof. Nobody talks about them because they aren't established, and generally only play the same song, which already has thousands upon thousands of existing covers. Everyone who doesn't like someone just says they are sloppy, I've heard it about MAB, Shawn Lane, Buckethead, everyone. Everyone sucks unless you like them. Govan is the fastest alternate picker of the big guitarists at the moment, but people don't tend to talk about his speed since he doesn't put more emphasis there than any other part of his playing.

+Paul Thoresen actually Micheal does have degrees in Music and composition. He is the cleanest shredder ever and I normally don't like many .
MAB - really great guy. I got a chance to speak to him one night and he was so down to earth. That goes a long way in my book. Looking forward to Shred Force One !!
What an amazing dude.. MAB is an all across the board great guy and an amazing guitarist.. one of my all time favorites man..
Killer guitar player and super nice and very positive man.
I had the honor of opening for MAB this past May. Coolest guitarist you'll ever meet! And man does he have some great stories

Michael is an awesome human being.
I've seen MAB live and met him twice, a very nice dude of course. I have all his albums. His music, playing, character and spirit are all super special in this vast Cosmos. Hail this man, he deserves more attention!
Michael is such an extremely nice person and passionate about his music and music in general. How could anyone not love the guy?
Love this guy. You watch him play and with his look, you expect he's gonna be some rowdy dude, but he always comes across as a gentle, intelligent, kind, soft-spoken man with not a bad word to say about anyone...
In the early 80's, I played in a cover band all over the Chicago area. A lot of south side stuff. We would open for all the "big" acts back them. Mostly the tribute bands, Moonlight Drive and such......they were all jerks. Ego, demanding ass___es. Except for one band.......Holland. Mike and the guys would always give us the stage to set up, not make us set up around their stuff. Offer their sound man to help us (we were a 3 piece, very low budget). He was a genuine, nice guy. It's good to see after all these years he's still around and enjoying himself. Good for him.
Amazing guitar player and a very nice person.
Great guitarist...and a awesome person doesn't trash anyone...
He is one of the nicest people ever. I've gotten to meet him twice and each time he has been the greatest person.
This man is one of the higher beings on Earth. Incredible player and an awesome guy. And very humble
Holland was a great band here in Chicago. Batio shreds !!!!
MAB is a genius, he is extraordinary, I saw him in a show and it was shocking
My friends band practiced in the same warehouse as Nitro. Michael is a very nice man and really has respect for fans and fellow musicians.
One of the nicest guys from the 80's era of guitarists.
great stuff! Holland was awesome. Nitro was cool too.

it should be 'Bahtio'! being that he's ITALIAN!!! just like Joe Mantegna's family used to pronounce it 'Man-teg-na', until they heard a guy from home pronounce it correctly: his family tried to fit into society and favored a waspier pronunciation!! and there you have it!
amazing that interviewer didn't laugh a bit when MAB said "kinda biblical"
I'm glad I watched this. It was more enjoyable than I expected. I always kind of considered him a novelty act and didn't stay up with what he has been doing over the years. But in Nitro with such an obnoxious singer and his double neck guitar, I guess I just really never took him too serious to be honest. He seems like a nice guy and down-to-earth and clearly very talented.
love this guy !
Dude, Michael Angelo batio is a badass guitarist, very humble and very smart, just like eddie, doing what he needs to make his guitars sound like he wants
Been a fan for almost 35 years! Yes kids....im that old! He just kills it!
Not only is he a great player, he’s an amazingly accomplished teacher...and he’s so funny! Been a fan since his Star Licks tape !
Seeing him live tonight! Can't wait!

Vaibhav Rana I saw him in person once. It's like being in the presents of a god... seriously.
He is a really nice guy and down to earth. Watching guys like him play people wrongly assume he'll be up himself. Good on him
had a chance to meet Michael at a clinic. I'm waking up the super narrow stairs at the House of Guitars in Rochester NY, this guy comes walking down at the same time I look up and this guy says "Hey man hows it going?" with a huge smile, carrying a guitar case bigger than he was. MAB! Nicest most down to earth guy you could ever want to meet. he gets mocked slot for looking like a reject from Spinal Tap, but I don't care he tops in my book as person and player!
“Hi, I’m Michael Angelo, I’m 60 years old wearing a Jackie O wig and this monstrosity that’s strapped to my chest is a metaphorical monument to what it looks like when you literally guitar solo yourself out of every band you’ve ever been a part of.” He’s still unbelievably technically talented and a total sweetheart.
love this guy. he seems to be so humble and fun
He said he doesn't have his signature on the guitar because it turns off buyers, but he had a little picture of himself on the back of the headstock
Michael you never ever fail to wow me!
I love this guys picking hand, amazing player
I love how he just uses one pedal. Cool guy. Fantastic player.
Mike seems like a cool person, easy to talk with and no chip on the shoulder. Wish I could meet him someday after one of his shows
This guy is so nice
"I didn't even like rock music - even to this day I still use Jazz III picks" - That's quite the Tuffnel-ism :D
maybe MAB would said : "Practice, practice & practice" :D
MAB normally HATES the term Doubleneck..he calls it a Doubleaxe
Seems like a very down to earth dude, a lot of these older shred guys do.
that guy is a fucking pyscho when he plays but when he talks he is the nicest guy in the fucking planet love you mr. batio
great guy and great technician.......not much of a composer but great dude
Hands without shadows!
Great guitarist and GREAT GUY!!!
Here's why he's better...he's smart, knows musicianship from showmanship and he's nice!
It's nice to see the endorsement of new digital amp gear from such a caliber of player as Batio. Tubes are a ridiculous pain in the ass these days when you can get the same exact sound every time in any venue with modern profiler and amp modeling rigs out there.
he says he makes his guitars as anonymous as possible yet they all have his initials on the headstocks
Awesome
@0:23 sounds like 'Choli ke peeche kya hai' 😋😂 MAB IS A LEGEND THOUGH!
he is a great Guy & I finally met him on Nov 24th at a Guitar clinic. the clinic was FREE so I bought 2 CDS, No shirts.only thing that I didn't like was when I walked in the Guy in the Guitar store said "No Pictures NO Video Recording"
Wow, a Thirsty Whale reference! This guy is obviously from Chicago.
PLEASE BRING BACK =THAT METAL SHOW

I can't believe it. as i could miss this episode he is a big shot to metalheads moreover an excellent at guitar player
He's AWESOME
MAB Rules!!! Listen to his epic "Seven pillars of Steel!!! He is one of THE BESTGuitarists in the worrld!!!
Excited what he´s talking about, but he let´s that guy complete his question, puts his hands behind him and stays calm. Exact opposite of malmsteen. :D
I like arpeggios, do you like arpeggios? Arpeggios, Arpeggios!
If only they had Buckethead on TMS :(
I really like this guy!
My favorite MAB
