I hosted MAB at my music store twice when he was endorsing Washburn guitars and Randall amps. We had a local little black guy who is an incredible jazz guitarist and when Michael met him, they went in one of our teaching rooms and played for hours. Within a month, a Washburn 335 hollowbody showed up thru UPS with a short note in it basically saying how much he enjoyed playing with the guy and to give him this guitar. MAB is a phenomenal guitarist and a genuinely nice guy.

He is absolutely a very nice guy.. I've met him way back in the nitro days and he was an amazing guy.. smiled the whole time and he acted more in a daze about meeting his fans than we were to meet him.. very genuine guy.. and he is a monster on the guitar man.. but yes, you're 100 percent right about him.. I agree.. he's a great soul.. and an amazing player..

@@gluph5580 Yes, I’m the same person. I hosted many guitar clinics when I was in the retail musical instrument business. Michael was an outstanding guest that we hosted twice and when he met our local guitar phenom Spanky, he was blown away how good he was. Spanky’s real name was Eddie Alford and sadly, someone let me know that Spanky had passed away. I hadn’t seen him in years. Eddie has several utube videos and u can look him up. Cheers!

***** Yeah, really a nice guy. I met him a few years back at the musikmesse in germany. I asked him something and he didn't quiet get what i wanted to know. He was so patient. He could have just buzzed me off, instead he just said "I have no clue what you're talking about". And i started again. It's much easier to write something down than say it if it isn't your mother tongue.

  • @TheYagomestre

EVH is god, period. BUT is not most technical than MAB. Also George Lynch is not even close to MAB in technique, and even Yngwie can't match MAB in speed, skills and difficulty level. Jason Becker is one of the greatest ever, one of the best sweepings and other-types-of-arpeggios. But I'm sorry fellas, they can't match the two-handed ambidextrous play of MAB.

Yago Reck Shawn Lane was way more technical, and nowadays Guthrie Govan and Bumblefoot beat him that as well. MAB's triumph for me is his sweep picking, have never seen anyone do it as clean as he does

I remember seeing this guy demo his "double" neck guitar(s) back in '86-87 (yep, he's a vet and he's aged well) at this guitar shop a few miles from L.A. Airport. It was a real small shop and he had this simple rig set up, but his sound was huge. I remember just sitting there on the floor mesmerized seeing someone play ambidextrously and simultaneously. Lost track of him over the years thanks to the fickle-mindedness of the public and the show-biz media, but glad to see he's still doing his thing, and not broke!! He's the real deal.

  • @Billbill80s

This guy is genuinely underrated. I barely hear anything about him. But he could hold his own next to any of the big name guitarists. I personally think he would embarrass a lot of higher earning players. His tribute songs to other players fairly well encompass their entire career in a single song. Incredible player.

+Billbill80s To get a lot of attention as a guitarist, you have to be in a band that plays popular original songs. MAB is pretty much known only to other guitarists due to this fact. I don't think he would "embarrass" other guitarists with his playing any more than how much they embarrass him with their superior songwriting abilities.

This guy actually has got nothing. What he play is just technical skill where most guitarist is thinking they're playing extraordinarily. But too sad they were overcome by their egos until they never ever realise that they are actually MAKING NOISE.That not playing or skill!Ritche Blackmore laughed his balls out looking at these clown.Who would wanna hire this guy?He should be a bouncer instead of playing making horrible noise.

Your opinion isn't proof. Nobody talks about them because they aren't established, and generally only play the same song, which already has thousands upon thousands of existing covers. Everyone who doesn't like someone just says they are sloppy, I've heard it about MAB, Shawn Lane, Buckethead, everyone. Everyone sucks unless you like them. Govan is the fastest alternate picker of the big guitarists at the moment, but people don't tend to talk about his speed since he doesn't put more emphasis there than any other part of his playing.

In the early 80's, I played in a cover band all over the Chicago area. A lot of south side stuff. We would open for all the "big" acts back them. Mostly the tribute bands, Moonlight Drive and such......they were all jerks. Ego, demanding ass___es. Except for one band.......Holland. Mike and the guys would always give us the stage to set up, not make us set up around their stuff. Offer their sound man to help us (we were a 3 piece, very low budget). He was a genuine, nice guy. It's good to see after all these years he's still around and enjoying himself. Good for him.
