Back in the early 80's in Chicago, I was in a band that used to open for a whole slew of bands. Mike was in a band called Holland. Say what you want about him but out of all the bands we opened for, Mike's was the most accommodating to us and the nicest. He would go out of his way to make sure we got at least a sound check. NONE of the other bands back then would even let us use 1/4 of the stage let alone sound check. Mike was always a nice, friendly guy, and if you think he's full of himself, you should have seen the other bands!!!

Thanks for that story, Larry. I'm glad he's a nice guy. We need more people like him. Thee are too many prima donnas out there. I love to watch the guy play and I'm glad that he now knows how to play lefty and not just crossing hands because he's a natural lefty.

Never paid much attention to MAB till I started really practicing again. Many years on the stage and heavily jaded by music as a whole, studying this guy has made me appreciate the art of guitar again. His attitude is unmatched. Huge inspiration mechanically and psychologically . Love this guy.

I like that he has the ability to play Hendrix lefty.

Gotta love Michael Angelo Batio. He's such a joy to watch him talk (and play) guitars. His excitement and enthusiasm are contageous!

ive never seen someone talk so happy about their gear. its awesome lol he sounds like a kid at a candy store.

Enthusiasm overload! He sure knows about his kits & uses them at superuser level! Yet humble. He's so cool can't get any cooler.

His enthusiasm is absolutely fantastic to watch. Even though he has played music for so many years and has a music degree, he is still like a young boy wanting to pay tribute to those who have inspired him. Man, I hope I feel as enthusiastic about my music when I've been playing for 47+ years.

This guy is my favorite guitarist of all time. I've met him multiple times in McAllen, TX. He's ALWAYS the nicest guy! He's so passionate and into what he's doing. More guitarists of his stature should be like this. I'm tired of the "Uh, yeah, this is my signature and ... Uh... You know." I LOVE his passion for his craft.

Completely passionate, respectful and joyful. He really lives and breathes music.

You know, I always thought this guy was a total douchebag who could show off better than most guitarists out there, but actually, he seems like more of a passionate, down-to-earth type of guy. I'm not a bigt fan of his music, but I have give him credit, because his tone is so simple yet effective, and his playing is so ridiculously complex, it's just fascinating to watch.

I love how enthusiastic he is when he talks about his stuff.

His enthusiasm is genuine and just so admirable. This, ladies and gentlemen is someone who loves what he does.

This guy is AWESOME! He does what he loves, you can see how enthusiastically he talks about something related to music. What a cool dude!!

I love MAB but not only for his incredible techinique and all that comes with it, I love how humble he is by talking about other guitarists like that but saying good things about them all, did you realize that in almost 20 min of video he was not only talking about his stuff but he was like chatting with all of us? I love not only his humilty but his relaxed way he talks to every1 like all people are his friends. This how a musician or any artist should be imo some of them might do it but at some point in life they just don't take it anymore and they stop they have to be cold they have to be "bad" to some people and this guy isn't...

This is one of the most honest nice guys you will ever meet and quite possibly the best guitarist ever!! He truly is the boss of whatever he's playing!!

I've watched MAB interview videos a few times and this is the first time he sticks up for himself, and I'm happy about that! Dude is a humble musician and he deserves the credit.

I may not be that much of a fan of his music, but honestly? I gained so much respect & appreciation of him through his video, because...well... He's a geek! He's so wrapped up in his love for the music & what he does, it's wonderful to see that raw enthusiasm bleed through without any of that "Oh yeah, gotta pretend to be cool" nonsense

This is the first time I've heard an extended interview with Mr. Batio. I've long been impressed with his ability, and now I'm equally impressed with his enthusiasm and humility.

How can you not love Michael Angelo, he's just such a nice positive guy

I listen to a lot of music. I also have been playing guitar for 17 years. I love this dudes attitude and tone. He is truly amazing.

He seems to be the kind of guy that doesn't like to be too flashy or douchey but can talk your balls off about gear and music.

The dude seemed super excited to be talking to someone knowledgeable about guitars and on a platform for people watching who super knowledgeable about guitars This guy is a super gear geek and music geek, I love it. His enthusiasm for everything was incredible

Saw this guy at a guitar show 2 years ago and he was such an awesome guy and absolutely owned a cover of Deep Purple's 'Burn'.

I was expecting Michael to accidentally stab the interviewer in the face with that pointy headstock.

the guy is like "good lord man, all i said was tell me what your guitar is."

This guy is driven, educated and skilled. His stint in Nitro was what introduced him to everybody. He was why anybody listened and watched their videos. What was Michael Angelo Batio going to do next? I think he is underrated. The man can basically play anything.

I love watching someone as excited as Michael Angelo explaining his guitars, rig, and passions. It's great to see someone who clearly enjoys what he does every day.

I really love his passion for music.

I love this guy. I have no time for ultra-fast guitar playing, but I will make an exception for Eddie, Yngwie and him. Plus, he is obviously obsessed with his craft. I wish I had the time to really study the way he does. He is a badass. Viva Michael Angelo!

Like how he takes his time to explain all his gear and settings with humbleness, despite the fact that his playing is in a league of his own, like it or hate him MAB can do on a guitar in ten minutes what would you probably will do in a lifetime.

i am surprised at how humble he actually is. despite having so much technically ability he is still in awe of his heroes.

I used to think he was in some kind of hair-metal dreamland. A relic from the 80’s. Turns out he is a very likeable teacher. I’m not personally interested in his techniques but I admire his humour and willingness to share.

MAB we need more artists like you who are down to earth and humble. Keep on going , never stop your amazing.

Always enjoy his interviews. And I learn a lot.

Down to earth and an incredible guitarist.

You know what is cool about MAB? It's not how fast he can play. It's that even at this point in his career, you can tell that he still totally loves music and is as much of a fan as a musician.

I love the charisma this guy have and his entusiasm about music, guitars and what he does for a living. Great person if you ask me.

The companies he talks about like EMG and whoever makes the whammy pedal were probably cringing if they watched this. HAHA Man, he's honest. Unlike most guys who just blow smoke for whoever greases their palm. I like guys like this. It's not wrong to tell the truth. If A is way better than B, say so. It isn't YOUR fault that B isn't better or as good as A. I also prefer passive pickups. I used the 81/85 for many years. Got sick of the hiss and batteries.

Meeting him was awesome and was totally on accident. He’s such a nice guy and loves to talk.

He did a clinic in a store I had my guitar shop in. He arrived an hour EARLY, he introduced himself to every employee. I asked if his guitars needed anything, he said they did. He gets his guitars in my shop and asked to use a bench & prepared his own guitar with his own tools! A friendly and very polite guy. We chatted while he dialed in his guitars. He made a great impression on me. A great musician as well.

You may think what you want about this guy, but if you can say something bad about him after watching this video it means you are not a good person ;)

Big Dave For me there is no doubt that Michael is an amazing musician and there are only a handful of guitarist walking the face of the earth that can cover as many different styles as well as he does. But I have a real hard time taking anyone who wears a wig like that seriously and I can only stand about 2 or 3 minutes of hearing him talk before I am burnt out on it.

I had this guy all wrong, never been a big fan, guy seems light blooded and down to earth.

He seems like an honestly nice approachable person-what you see is what you get. I'd love to hang with him in a livingroom and just talk. He has his fascinations and passions just like anyone else. He knows what he likes and what works for him and unlike many critics on you tube, he's living his passion, and sharing his talent with the world. Unless you are putting yourself out there, why not be still and listen. You may just learn something.

Yes he got a wig, yes he's quite aspergerish, yes he is old, but wtf: He is one of the very best guitarists out there, and it's not only about the speed, plus he is one of the nicest and most humble guys in the industry!

Back in the day when Nitro came through Kansas City, we loaned them our P.A. for the show that night. I ran into Michael down in Orlando years later and he is such a super nice guy on a personal level. Michael really takes the time to connect with his friends and fans. And what a total talent! Holy Wow Batman! Thanks to Premier Guitars and Jason for doing this interview!!!! I really enjoy watching all of the Rig Rundown videos! :)

+ricomajestic, the Max grip picks may suck in your hands, but they're a crucial part of my playing. I can't play anything else as far as picks. I can't use other picks.

That interviewer's brain internally exploded at about the 00:30 second mark. Batio thinks so fast...and so much, probably no one can keep up with him. He's literally thinking many times faster than the rest of the population. That interviewer probably had to seek counseling after this interview.

Maybe you should take note that he's 64 years old and has that kind of enthusiasm still.That's a good thing. I hope I have that kind of passion and can be fired up about music at that age. Oh and then there is his ridiculous ability to play guitar. Almost unbelievable.

I'd rather listen to you all day than read the hate drivel in the youtube comments...luckily, I didn't have to do it for very long! :)
