    Could be near a fish pond or pool ir something where high pressure washers are used so it may not be submersed that extra protection may put some owners in a piece of mind pal

    We used some in the factory I work at they paid like £70 bucks for a bottle similar size as that. Tbf you wouldn’t have to open the box for a few years extra compared to it not having the gel in it. Goes like rubber so I’ve heard.

    Total overkill, in the vast majority of situations/environments the IP rated box is more than adequate. Just remember to drill a small drainage hole at the lowest point!

    Red seal electrician from Canada here, we have a very harsh environment on the east coast here and I have done lots of traffic light/street lamp work and a little black tape goes along way and very service able. 3M makes a water proof slice kit that slides over our Marette connections and makes a F***in mess. Black tape is sufficient in my opinion

    Better to keep the stuffing glands on the bottom. Helps prevent rain coming in. When the stuffing glands are on top water can follow the cable. Keep cables sloped downwards if stuffing glands are on the side.

    It doesn't change the IP rating. IP rating is about water and dust ingress into the enclosure. It's the effectiveness of the seals on the connectors and the case and the case lid that determine that.

    Technically this could be argued to be against the IET regulations. Why? Because the regs require that all junctions and terminations of wires be accessible for inspection and maintenance. If you're covering those junctions and terminations in a potting compound then they are no longer available for inspection.

    @@markwilliams4274 That is not true. If the Wagos are fitted in a suitable box (which is labelled with"MF") and the instructions followed) then the junctions are maintenance free, in fact they don't even need to be inspected.

    Not wanting to be that guy but you should probably move the terminals further inboard of the box if you want 'extra IP rating'. Helps the material from around the connectors

    Looks so nice but given that the cables will be exposed and perhaps sustain damage, then the entire work inside the box will be useless using wago connectors to keep them useless after this is juts not an ok thing I would stick with the electrician grease to keep moisture out

    Mate this Box is IP rated... Problem is the only way to make electrics truly waterproof is Resin or Gel. Water will always somehow seep past the seals.

    Its re-enterable sealant. Its a gooey mess but easily opened up.
