We could have it in Poland already. Maybe even local production for the European market. Aussies have their manufacturing, and they are using it with success. Solid protection close to the one the German Fennek has but Fennek can't get lighter while this one is more modular.

They are a great vehicle. The safety to the crew is a key component. Australians are already using it.

@@tlevans62 we have brought the boxer 8x8 and we also have the bush master (big brother of the hawkei) so we have all the vehicle types we need for a small army (but still very modern and technical capable). With all three of these vehicles the missions and weapon diversity they provide us with plenty of options and choices. So no reason to look at any other wheeled vehicle types right now

NatCav8 That’s incorrect, I served 4 years with 2/14 light horse. A light armoured 6x6 is a capability we lack and need. The extra pay load offered on a light armoured mobile platform is very versatile. In a near peer engagement the g-wagons are a terrible option for deployment. They are what we considered “koalas” or home duties. We need an armoured utility with a heavier payload, we even pushed for a 6x6 bushmaster in around 2012 and that fell on deaf ears because of the g-wagons coming.

yes i imagine it very well in the scorpion program, the serval is much bigger, it would need a small fast and agile vehicle like that or the scarab of arquus

after reading your comments: France is currently looking for a vehicle of the same size to join the scorpion program! thales is one of the major players in this program! it is for this reason that the hawkei could be selected and modified to integrate it, but currently nothing is decided! this is why it is possible that hawkei are made in france but this is only a guess!

I think Thales is a french company so it is highly possible to make it in France. Australia has orders 1100 of them so would be a good idea for them to be made in France as there would be a bit of a backlog with orders

NZ just got some bushmasters to replace some of armoured pinz and unarmoured mogs, would make some sense and get these to replace the rest of the armoured pinzgauers.

  • @egypthobby

They woud probably offer these to NZ as well. With the ANZAC alliance it might take a few join exercises be fore some to the NZ military analysis to look at it seriously. Bushmaster can hold more people than the Hawkei and have a bigger cargo area so that could be why they upgraded with the bushmaster first. With a small military with a limited budget they probably need to prioritise what program will be chose

@@egypthobby pretty sure we went with bushmasters because they are a proven type, hawkei is relatively new and still yet to be feilded in any decent numbers. The NZ army have 60 armoured pinz in varying roles and considering the bushmasters are to take on more roles like ambulance then it would seem we are a few short of full replacement. TBH I do not see pinz and bushmaster in the same class anyway and more in between pinz and NZLAV in terms of size and role so something smaller will be needed either way to fill the gap.

@@regregan5755 Armoured Pinis were parked up for years and largely unused. They could not get up a well known hill in Waiouru. These were acquired via an absolute cluster of a program that was a political appeasement to the 5th column that was the Alliance party in 2000 by the opportunist in Charge- Commissar Clark. Running prior to that was a program across 5 eyes to standardise on a new gen of HUMVEE that was to be made RHD or LHD but with various swappable modules and armour kits that would have provided something almost suitable for the War of Terror. But Alliance were against it cos it involved the US and NZ First sniffed an opportunity to appear like they were doing something. The Bushies here are only for that elite unit based in Paps. The remainder of the new build Bushies are still on their way. But should start arriving in the next several months. Hawkei will be looked at but there are several concurrent programs so progam staff are largely already tasked.

D'ailleurs, pour tout le monde ça semble assez flou la future utilisation de ce véhicule (et donc son profil). Il devrait être entre le serval et le PVP, mais à part ça ...

Not even close. The Hawkei is far superior and far stronger than a Humvee. This thing is designed from the ground up to withstand blast from IED's and Mines. Go and check photo's of Humvees that have been hit by IEDs. It now also sports a remote weapon station.

This is not the Humvee class vehicle. It's double the weight of the HMMWV when it is not overloaded. Humvee barely moves in terrain when gets over 4,5t.
