Thailand’s Tiger Kingpins | Unreported World

We’re Undercover to confront a suspected tiger dealer, and track down the tiger kingpins who have made millions from a sinister and sometimes deadly trade.
Subscribe to our channel for more Unreported World episodes / unreportedworld .
We travel to the last safe haven of the near-extinct Indochinese tiger, and meet the rangers and conservationists fighting to protect the endangered predators. Meanwhile Thai wildlife enforcement agencies are determined to crack down on the illegal trade in live and dead tigers.
But they are struggling against a lucrative and murky industry that supplies an insatiable demand from Vietnam and China for trophies and chinese medicine.

Human's can also be selfless and compassionate. That these rangers as an example. Everyone likes to talk about how selfish and greedy humans can be and some are but no one talks about all the good humans can do too. Does that mean I disagree with you? No, humans have been the cause for many species going extinct but they have also been the cause in saving many species too. When we talk about the bad, we should talk about the good too or the bad will consume all.

Earth is our ancestral home that we need to take care of so that they can also experience earth the way we did. If it was possible, I wish for one day these smugglers and poachers switch positions with their preys. I wonder how they would feel when the animals cage them too. Amazing documentary, we as humans need to do everything in our power to ensure these beautiful innocent creatures (all creatures) thrive once more and never again get exploited for so called medication etc which have been proven to have no health benefits what so ever for us humans. All in all a complete pointless procedure. Indeed. They should at least start with big requirements of the living standard of the caged tigers with huge outside cages, green fields and the ability to socialize with their peers. Supply and demand fuels the black market. There should be more effort on the parts of demand countries to crackdown on consumers of these goods. If rich people in your country were importing human flesh for cannibal-theme dinner parties surely the government should be going after them. Why not for illegally acquired animal parts? If demand goes down, suppliers have no incentive to keep breeding tigers and they'll have to switch to some other trade like drug dealing.

It is no wonder that the citizens are so poor, not enough basic needs seem to be met & the corruption is rabid. What chance do honest people have & the children watch/listen & learn from criminal activity around them. It's so very sad that the king lives in Germany & doesn't care about any of his people. I'm sorry but I don't know much about this country or its ruler. Isn't there any siblings that can start a process for the king to be dethroned? @@1525boy a movement needs to be started if there isn't one already, to encourage such provisions to be taken. The tiger will be extinct & then it's to late. We can't explain how truly beautiful the tiger, not just the tiger but those b4 & after just how truly regal, beautiful & magnificent they were. There are more tigers in America than in the world. That shouldn't be & it hurts my heart & soul to know how many citizens(non human)of this world are truly on the brink of extinction The tiger in good zoo's or the rescued animal being given the chance to run free & actually be able to touch grass, dirt etc. on their native soil possibly for the 1st ever is wonderful but they can't reproduce fast enough to sustain the species. Those tigers in breeding programs around the world can't be solely responsible for its own future. Again they can't reproduce fast enough to keep themselves from always being on the brink of extinction. And mankind caused this problem along with problems other animals are facing, like lost of its habitat from South America to the Asian countries. For people to believe that the tiger, whose pelt can go as high as $50,000. not to mention other parts of the body is believed to have healing, magical properties. These ideas came from many centuries in the past. It should sicken all that not just this magnificent animal but the horn of the rhino, the tusks of the elephant, the head of the lion as a trophy, the snow leopard, the lynx & the fin of the shark. How our world would look with the lost of even one of these citizens which came b4 man was created by he who created all things, seen & unseen. Somebody needs to go hunting for these folks! You know: "...make ashtrays out of their hands and feet, hey...I'll pay for a human hand ashtray! Specially if it is made from these poachers!" "...and for a human head soup bowl? ....forget about it!" ...and as for the guy with the liger, hey I would like to run some DNA crisper type experiments on him! see if I can make a human/orangutan hybrid! ...and then make a pelt out of his hide! You know find some new ways to decorate my fireplace! I would bet his head will look spectacular on a mahogany mantle!

It's easy for you to come up and say that, but you don't understand why people are doing this in the first place. Lack of education and poverty. Look at the bigger picture. It's easy to say "kill them!" but that offers a temporary solution. You kill one and two more people will take their place. That's how the world works. Fix poverty first, and you stop the poaching trade

Glad their numbers are recovering. These tigers should be protected at all costs. Asian people are notorious for using tiger and bear parts for traditional medicines especially the Chinese and Vietnamese.

They could keep the wild tiger population up if the government pays more money to rangers and open up tourism in these areas like India.
