THAILAND'S DEATH RAILWAY RIDE 2024 - BANGKOK TO KANCHANABURI $3

Thailand's $3 Train Ride on the Death railway from Bangkok to Kanchanburi. This railway network was constructed by prisoners of war during the 2nd World war under the brutal control ofJapanese forces that were in Thailand. They wanted a railway network that would assist them in their war effort to attack India.
So we leave the old train station in Bangkok, Thailand at 0630 AM to travel on the rai network to
Kanchanaburi and the bridge over the river Kwai. Our First first stop of the journey is at Nakhon Pathom, Pre Pathom Chedi. This is the oldest and tallest Chedi in Thailand and world!
As you can see its very busy here and we only have 30 minutes so we can’t go inside.
Once back on the train we travel to the bridge over the river Kwai in Kanchanaburi we spend 35 minutes here looking at the bridge. I can highly recommend visiting this location and Kanchanaburi in general, so much history here.

As tragic as the tale of Bridge 277 is it was just one of many on the Death Railway. Looks like you had lots of fun despite the sombre history. I hope your ears have recovered from the battering they took from the train announcers.

Yes Michael thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Lots of sad memories when you think about the history, japs were brutal with their treatment to the POW's. I can highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Thailand. As always thanks for the support and best wishes my friend! Jim

You state that 7,000 POWs died on the Thai Burma Railway. Australian sources put the death toll as 16,000 POWs and 90,000 Asian labourers.
