A couple of the ping pong show hustlers on Bangla Road in Phuket, Thailand. I talked to a few backpackers who fell for this scam & I'll explain how it goes down. If you're intent on seeing a legit ping pong show in Thailand Bangla rd. is the place to go but beware of the street hustlers showing these "menu's".
Preying on curiosity, they offer drugs and the chance to see a ping pong show for only the price of a drink. Here's the scam - you get upstairs and order a drink, before the action starts you're persuaded to buy a few drinks for the performers. After a lackluster show you're presented with a bill for a few thousand Baht or more. Refuse to pay or protest and some intimidating thugs will start threatening you. You might be able to negotiate the price down a little but don't put yourself in this position to start with.
