Thai Street Food Tour: 5 Street Foods You Should Try in Thailand
Street Food in Thailand: 5 Thai Street Foods You Should Try. Street Food Tour at Walking Street Night Market in Krabi Thailand.
There is so much Thai street food in Thailand and Thailand is known for being one of the best places in the world for eating street food. In this video I take you on a tour of the street food at a night market in Thailand to find 5 street foods that I think you really should try in Thailand.
This market is the Krabi Walking Street Weekend Night Market in Krabi Town in Krabi Thailand. It is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, 5pm till 10pm and its Google Maps coordinates are: goo.gl/maps/NXHawkHgWin

• PHUKET STREET FOOD | ...
Thai cuisine and street food in Thailand has taken influences from many other styles of Asian cooking, including Chinese food. You’ll find Thai street food on many street corners in Thailand, as well as at every market, be it in Krabi, Phuket, Bangkok or Pattaya. Thai food markets are one of the best places to buy fresh and authentic Thai food while you travel in Thailand. There are loads of Thai food markets and night market all over Thailand, you’re never far from one. At the markets you'll find so many Thai dishes on offer and the foods here are cheap, and so tasty! And in case you’re worried, eating Thai street food is perfectly safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it nearly daily in Thailand since I moved here in April 2012, and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. Thai street food is some of the best Thai food you’ll find in Thailand!

The markets in Thailand are also a great place to get an insight into Thai culture while you travel in Thailand. You can shop alongside the locals and learn what they buy and eat. And the markets are a great place to try traditional Thai street foods, learn Thai recipes and cooking, as well as eat some of the best Thai dishes in Thailand. You'll see the people cooking the food right in front of you. And best of all, the food is cheap, often much cheaper than eating in a Thai restaurant. Eating at markets is a good way to eat cheap on your Thailand holidays.

Hi Darren. I waited for Wednesday to have a look at your yet another amazing video. Great going. Could you please tell what are the mushrooms wrapped in in the beginning of the video. Is that stick vegetarian. And what are the vegetarian options there, (I ask for my wife, she is a vegetarian but eats eggs. ) thanks alot again. Take care
@darrenb3

Thanks! The mushrooms are wrapped in bacon. There are lots of vegetarian options there, such as the vegetable cakes in the video, as well as all sorts of other vegetable and tofu things too. I hope that helps.

Thanks Todd! The burns subsided quickly without hospitalization thankfully. Blood clams are delicious, do try them out. If you like oysters, mussels or cockles I'm sure you will love them!
@darrenb3
6 жыл бұрын
Ah, that makes sense now. I can't say I've ever bought blood clams that reminded me of sewage in any way. I've had them in both Thailand and Australia and bought them from markets, restaurants, roadside stands and supermarkets. Every time I've had them they've been great. I'll let you know if the situation changes :)
@ChopperChops
6 жыл бұрын
I've tried them 3 or 4 times. I know they are popular with a lot of Thais. I do love seafood & Oysters but I will rarely eat raw Oysters in Thailand due to concerns about the food chain and hepatitis A. Incidentally, blood clams are another shellfish that easily carries Hep A
@darrenb3
6 жыл бұрын
Before I came to Thailand for the first time I went to see a specialist travel doctor to ask what vaccinations they recommended for travel to Thailand. They asked me about the activities I would be doing and the regions I would be traveling to and they recommended I get a hepatitis A vaccination. They also suggested I return for a booster vaccination within 12 months, for long term protection from the disease. I believe anyone who is traveling to any country outside their own should seek specialist medical advice like this to maximise their safety. Hepatitis A is relatively common in the developing world (distribution: gamapserver.who.int/mapLibrary/Files/Maps/Global_HepA_ITHRiskMap.png ). All shellfish, not just blood clams, can potentially harbour hepatitis A if they live in water contaminated with the virus. Other high risk foods are fruit & vegetables and hepatitis A can also be spread through physical contact with an infected person and contact with objects that an infected person has touched. The good news is, "High temperatures, such as boiling or cooking food or liquids for at least 1 minute at 185°F (85°C), kill the virus". (Source and more information: www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/hav/afaq.htm ). Thus if you: 1) Get a hepatitis A vaccination before traveling, and 2) Eat food that is cooked adequately, then your risk of contracting hepatitis A should be negligible.
@darrenb3
6 жыл бұрын
Yes, some of my Thai friends like them bloody, but I am not a fan. I would only recommend eating them when they are cooked through, as there are some risks associated with eating undercooked shellfish, such as exposure to hepatitis A.
Hi Darren, Great video. I see so many women with their head covered. I was wondering if there is a large Muslim population in Thailand? or is it the city you live in? Sorry for my ignorance I thought it was mostly a Buddhist country. How do they deal with pork products or foods since i know that is a no-no. Thanks for the explanation.
@darrenb3
6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, the population of Thailand is estimated to be roughly 94% Buddhist, but in the south of Thailand there is a large Muslim population. In some provinces the majority of the population are Muslim (eg Pattani, estimated to be around 88% en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pattani_Province ). In the area where I live (Krabi) it is estimated that about 33% of the population is Muslim. How do they deal with pork and non-Halal foods? Like Muslims in other countries, they don't eat them :) I hope that helps.

@darrenb3

I eat shellfish here regularly (generally a few times per week) and have done so since I moved to Thailand in April 2012 and I have never had any problems. Eating raw shellfish carries risks, not just in Thailand, but in all other countries too (eg from Australia: "In truth there is not a guaranteed safe way to consume raw oysters," www.foodsafety.com.au/blog/safe-consumption-of-raw-oysters-separating-fact-from-fiction ). I only recommend eating shellfish which has been cooked properly.
