Thai 60 Day Visa Exemption Guess the Date Contest
I’ve received a number of comments asking when the new Thai 60-day visa exemption will actually be available. And, of course, I don’t have a clue. So, I thought it would be fun to allow my viewers to guess the date. So, feel free to guess the date when the new 60 day exemption will become available and put your guess in the comments section of this video. There is no prize, only glory.

Hi Mark, So, I think that you are guessing that the date is June 1, 2024 because that's the date that appeared in the original announcement; A very interesting approach. The Thai government announced June 1, so that must be the date when the 60 day exemption became available. Seems logical to me.. An expression of confidence in Thai immigration... all the best... Bob

@@robertsultan2550 Bob, my comment was a failed attempt at a joke. The Thai government from my observation seems to make a lot of announcements and commitments, but the follow through and execution on those is poor to nonexistent. Seriously, I suppose they will get around to issuing longer visas, but presume this will take some time. My best guess is by the end of July or August. Definitely before high season.

@@Mark-yo5ue Not a failed attempt, I got the joke. Whoever made the original announcement wasn't really thinking. It does take time to get the immigration agents in line with the new rules. But, it really should take more than a month. My guess was July 31 because that would still be in line with the second announcement of the June-July timeframe. I do think they'll do it before high season starts. It makes so much sense, and they really do want to boost tourism... all the best... Bob

Hi Terry, good strategy, you've staked out all the territory between Connor's guess of October 1 and baerv's guess of when hell freezes over.
Since I plan to submit my METV application on August 10th (for a return to Thailand in September), I will guess August 11.

It's cancelled for now, i think they are reviewing it, hopefully they go for 90 days instead.

Hi Jan, do you have a source for this info? I saw this reported in a few places, that the plan for the 60-day exemption has been cancelled, but I haven't found anyone providing a source. I couldn't find anywhere where the Thai government says they have cancelled the plan. Let me know if you have a source. Thanks! ...Bob
