For everyone whose complaining about non-meta builds and defensive skills, please keep in mind that not everyone who plays MHW has sunk 500+ hours into the game and is totally comfortable playing meta glass cannon type builds that are more suited to speed running. Let people play how they want to play.

Dude I’m at 700 hours and I still don’t do glass cannon builds. One stun lock and you are done

I just hit 500 hours and I only use comfy / defensive builds if I'm in a hunt with you my job is to not die so we can win. I will heal and buff us but I won't apologize for surviving

Hey mister you better be using the MeTa
To add to the discussion on why Focus is seen on most GS builds, it not only increases your dps, but also gives you more windows of opportunity, such as when a monster is down. Oftentimes, when a monster is down and you don't have focus, the monster will get back up again before you can land a TCS, especially brute wyverns with their short knockdowns. I would consider focus mandatory for this reason instead of the DPS boost, fortunately though if you're a high enough level to fight Alatreon you most likely have access to the Damascus mail, plus Focus decos can be mixed with Vitality and other useful skills, as well as being easily obtainable through silver melding tickets.
Hey that divine blessing and focus is fantastic. And im not even a greatsword main. Im impressed , gonna try this comfort build for sure
Man I can’t wait to see you do a charge blade and a switch axe endgame build. I main switch axe now and I love it but I’d love to see you make one. I have one that I think works pretty well and I can take down most monsters in 10mins or less outside of the arena. Haven’t tried an arena fight yet but will here in a few. Can’t wait. Thanks for this new series, if that’s what it is 🤙🏼
This is the main build I use for GS I saw it once in one of your streams. All I did was change the legs to the garuga legs. Can’t wait for you to use the bow.
I PLAYED FOR OVER 1200 HOURS OF MONSTER HUNTER AND NEVER KNEW YOU CAN SHOOT SLINGER WHILE MOUNTED!

Excited for the Hammer build.
Hey Mister, I love your videos. Because of you I have learned so much about the LBG and HBG. I like to see video about the hammer
"It used to be a game about fighting monsters; now it's a game about softening monsters."
Just switched my GS build to earplugs lvl 5. Nice straight crushin monsters nonstop
Instead of Dragon res you could go for blight res having - in theory - one more small decoration slot (3lvl instead of 4lvl)

If you go with 2 blight resist, then slotting at least one coalesence can give you a reliable damage boost.

@Blind Vision but to me at least some of those blights I legit cant play with
nice build. Im weird and i like using masters.touch on the greatsword just because i find i play pretty aggreaivly with it. I also take earplus sometimes because for some monsters it helps.with the clutch tcs timing you mentioned. But ive got a lot of builds for gs cuz it is my main lol. I will def add this one to my collection
We need more Charge Blade content please! Still waiting for part 2 of your guide as well
Thankyou for actually show casing a build with some defence I'm sick of seeing ppl with 'meta' damage build get smashed into the floor because they're fighting something that actually fights back

Well yeah you can try his build. At first I was also like this game is so difficult better I try a balance defensive build with offensive but after I use greatsword 400 times you almost understand every monster move you are like foreseeing the monster next move you no longer needed to tank the damage you can dodge it and fight back that time you will try to build the meta damage build coz now armor can get to lvl 20 is quite a lot and greatsword regen so much you will not die Bcoz of mistake. Especially when u are farming deco or great spiritvein gem timefor the quest shorter mean you will are effective in farming

Nevermind I see what u saying
I have been using lbg sticky and water but i really wanna see a bow build
For greats word focus 2 is all you need
I find that glider mantle works realy well with aerial style greatsword
Great video! but how do you regen your health? I don't see any health regen augments on that GS, just attack and sharpness augments. Could you be so kind to explain me please, thanks a lot!
I suggest you drop Dragon Res for Blight Res instead, maybe even Blight Res Lv2 with Coalescence

good suggestion, since Alatreon's controlling 4 elements, and the set probably had near 21 resistant on fire and dragon if im not mistaken
Alatreon covers himself in dragon to power up his physical attacks so ice res or thunder res might be best
You really need to hit the head with the bow-gun to get knockdowns. That is how it is now at least, no idea how it was earlier.
great build.

No, it's not lol
So recently I made a build for GS which i think is really good. It uses brachy helm, furious rajang chest, brachy arms, furious rajang waist, kulve alpha legs.
@cockman8437

If you slot it correctly you can get max crit eye, max might, agitator, peak, health boost, divine blessing 3, focus 3, crit boost, and one weakness exploit to get a bit more crit when hitting a weakened part and you dont need to weaken
@cockman8437
4 жыл бұрын
And its also very simple to make, no super expensive decos. The most expensive deco is one crit boost/vitality and maybe peak/vitality but other than that its fairly simple

how is guts and freemealsecret fun or change the playstyle at all.
This monster is never this tame for me he's always a nutcase.
The goat !!
I like DB secret here much better than with LS. With health regen and rocksteady you can power through monster attacks without using the tackle or worrying about carting. LS is more about evading than soaking. So, DB isn't as useful for an experienced LS player.
Dope set. I use a pseudo defensive , Ice attack based MR Kushala Daora set. Why stick to a meta when you have dozens if not hundreds of armors and combinations and jewels.
I prefer safi shatter gs, full attack awakenings, one go and one affi aug with divine blessing secret + tool specialist secret. Still 100% crit on tenderised part. max crit boost, health boost, focus, weakness expl, recovery up, airborne, 1 slinger cap for dual flinch shoots and 2 wide range from set.
how you can get agitator secret just with 2 piece of branchy?
You love that silver knight set huh? :D
Isn't faster to charge lvl 3 atk if you use sling shot to skip the 2nd atk?
@froglegs2314

Yes but it does less damage
... yep. That's about right.
HH and SnS next please.. :)
Is the chargeblade next?
Oh dear it appears that I got rid of that great sword welp I guess I use raging brachy
Wat layered armor is that
There's some debate over whether you NEED to bring Focus up to Max level 3 or if just level 2 is the most efficient. Apparently it's only a small speed bonus maxing it to Focus 3? You might be better off using that for something else.
@Ashwey_069
4 жыл бұрын
SparxCarnival Not really 5% are 5% faster that means u can go faster into the next attack. Some monsters like Nergi would stand up to fast after a flinch and u wouldn‘t be able to land the TCS in perfect timing for the next flinch or stun
@zSilverGuardian
4 жыл бұрын
there is no debate focus 3 is always mandatory for GS unless you are not going for TCS
Ok build I guess. I'll stick to my Teo/Brachy set. Plenty survivabillity unless I'm just not paying attention. It'll probably be OP once I get Health Aug, but not MR 100 yet as I spend too much time goofing off. lol

Hey mister ps4 stream today?
There are definitely more efficient comfort builds than the one he uses in this video. I am deaf meaning I cannot hear monsters roar or predict their attacks (those that place themselves behind a player frequently or shield themselves like Barioth or Kushala Daora are particularly troublesome & terrifying) and I also have trembling hands due to medication I take. Comfort builds are the ONLY way I play this game. I play most weapons, not all, as some are just not worth the trouble when you are deaf lol (Longsword, Hunting Horn, Gunlance & Switchaxe are the ones I don't play) and I can solo most monsters comfortably whilst still doing decent damage, hardly any carts & still have fun. Obviously I have some extreme requirements but because of this I have never used the Temporal mantle, Evasion mantle, Earplugs etc as all of them are pointless to me (I have used the Rocksteady mantle with stonethrower jewels for Kulve Taroth wall hits in her master rank quest though, but my mains are the Glider mantle & Vitality mantle) but even so, all my comfort builds are better optimised than this one. In all honesty, If I used his build I would be doing less damage and quite frankly, I would probably be dead. In my builds I do like to build comfy. As well as the skills needed for each weapon to shine, I will have Health Boost 3, Stun Resistance 3 (a god tier skill for deaf idiots like me) & Divine Blessing 3 in EVERY build. Also, you can get an independent Divine Blessing effect off Defense Augments on your weapons. (yes, it stacks) And no, I don't have health regen on every build because I do not play every hour of the day and I simply have not farmed enough for every weapon! I'm not saying his build is awful, i'm just saying that as a very average, middle aged deaf woman who plays this game for fun and not to glass cannon speed run, it could be a lot better. EDIT: Also, charger/x jewels are are much better way to get focus in your build rather than Damascus armor, if you have them.
@kevinwong8391

But you don't need to listen to listen to the audio to dodge those moves or use the weapons, it's more of visual cue by watching the monster's movements and learning their attack pattern
@palinite
4 жыл бұрын
@@kevinwong8391 I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you are not deaf or knows anyone that plays the game (or any game, really) that is lol? Look I know that, that's basically how you are meant to play & is the exact reason I struggle. As deaf person a lot of the visual cues go unnoticed by me as the mechanic in the game designed to help you memorise monsters move sets is the sound. I play this game with my husband and he has tried to explain them to me but they are genuinely hard for me to follow. The games audio was designed intuitively so each monster has corresponding sounds for each attack or move set so that the player would unconsciously start to recognise and become familiar with & therefore becoming second nature. (This is not new, this has always been the case in this game, it is very well designed. Ironically the two monsters I find most distressing Barioth and Kushala are from very early Monster Hunter games) Resulting in the player getting more comfortable with the monster because you instinctively know what to expect. No audio cues = very difficult to telegraph monster attacks. Even if you play a lot. It's not just a case of "lol, newbie better get good" which I imagine is what you are implying about me from your comment? I'd suggest trying to play a game you haven't played before (with similar mechanics to Monster Hunter) so you understand how different it is but I would not recommend it lol. The game is still fun and my point in the comment above was to highlight that even though I am deaf (or any other impairment that could impact gameplay) you can still make sufficient damage builds whilst also being a comfort build. I hope that clears up any confusion about my comment!
Lol, Everybody uses HBG on him while I use Switch Axe with DB Secret + Tool Secret.
swax pls! 🙂
starting to farm that build right now lol
Hi ge
haha, funny, i mostly have 600 hours of playtime and also an similar build! thumps up :)

Not quite as cringyy as the HBG video. lol
This isn't meta and I'm PISSED. /s
This build in my opinion isn’t a good tool at all, alatreon could be an awesome opportunity for players to get better, divine blessing secret is a crutch in all honesty, my advice is to use a meta build and use your faints to learn from your mistakes, you’ll be a better player for it :)

Why would you use fortify? First all you expecting to die with Divine Blessing 5?? Why build Divine Blessing then. 10% damage increase but you waste 2 minute unable to fight. Fortify is trash. Even in guilding lands. Strive to get better, not tricks to compensate. PUt on skills that actually get used constantly in a fight. Not 1-2 times per fight.

It takes one small decoration for 20% more damage and 30% more defense, you can even proc it using a safijiva set whitout leaving the camp at the start. How is that not worth?

Raull Espinoza so you talking about G lands. Cause GE have it here in regular fight. Fortify makes you worse player in g lands that’s why it suck. And people talk 20% like it’s god. Did you know eat attack up L is 10% same as one proc fortify? And you run Divine Blessing whole I run full resentment or peak beats out your fortify anyways.
