Hello, I actually wish that I knew a command like that one, this would open for sure the post-editing possibilities. Sadly I can't say that I know a command that would allow for such thing. There are probably other options though, I could recommend recording a demo on a greescreen map or looking for tutorial explaining how you can import your STV Demo into SFM, this should be way simplier from there.

hey, i am having an issue that i can not place any campaths, atleast when i try to smooth the demo it says not enaught or no campaths set but i did set over 10 campaths so it seems like it dosent register them, do you have any solution for that? also i can not move around in the frozen demo to create campaths.

To be honest I haven't opened Lawena since that video, but I'm pretty sure it should work. Make sure your HLAE is updated and launched at the same time as Lawena is, people reported me that you cannot choose your movie folder, make sure the demo you want to smooth and your movie folder is your tf folder. Or maybe it's a HLAE update that broke this method if you updated it,I don't know. I haven't updated it since that video if you want the old version let me know.

This works with POV demos too if you use the thirdperson command and as long as the camera isn't too far away from the player position.

@@Lightitupp1 This can still work if you using mirv_input camera on pov demos, but you should just stick with stv demos, as it's way easier to make smooths. You can also smooth pov demos, but it's very tedious. This tutorial explains it : kzread.info/dash/bejne/ipN4xMGNeKq5dJs.html

@@Lightitupp1Yeah this is the only way you can smooth povs, ask for the stv next time to the person that make the party, or you can probably get it from serveme.tf.

It's because it's a stv demo you can change from pov thirdperson and free cam just like you would in spectate mode with the space bar

sorry for boring u man but now I have another problem haha. When I press "P" to record, the game slows down and when I press "P" again the game backs to normal but when I check the movies folder no imagens there, it is not creating the pictures idk why :( I'm using just like u TGA format and 60fps. Hey! Ive been editing in after effects for almost a year now and I’ve been wanting to get into tf2 editing. I’m still getting the hang of everything but hopefully I’ll get it soon. I’m wondering if you have any effects you’d recommend for a beginner in game editing? Thanks in advanced.

I'm not using a lot of effects myself, but what like the most is the way you can modify any curves in the graph editor so everything smoothly transition together. I mostly play around with masks, fills, blending modes, blur effects, rays, glow, and other distortions effect, most important thing is to keep a certain continuity so nothing looks out of place. @@MrPgm7 i was gonna try to buy it but i sadly cannot afford it rn (ik im poor xd) I'm trying to get lawena to work but each time i open it it says ""the application has failed to launch due to a missing resource" I've installed java and restarted my pc like 2 times and this issue is still here. it leads to a dropbox link that doesnt go anywhere. I can open it using the lawena.jar in "lawena-stable-4.1.11/lawena/lawena.jar but i dont know if thats like messing it up or something. I aswell dont know how to install the green screen skybox for lawena. Im having lots of troubles... xd

@@MrPgm7 i didnt open from the rar. i extracted it to my documents folder. i tried putting the lawena-stable-4.1.11 inside the tf folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf) and im still getting the error "the application has failed to launch due to a missing resource". Probably not, this is not a tutorial channel, not that I'm against that but I made this video because a lot of people seemed to struggle with TF2 Recording/Smoothing. And there isn't one and only good way to edit, it's just a personal thing, I think it's better to mess around with what you know rather than trying to reproduce a specific thing you saw. Also I would be really rusty since I haven't made that in a while, but I'm glad you like my editing style.

i moved the tf2 folder to my normal tf folder, but it replaced my hud and configs. i want to run tf2 with different settings than recording with lawena, how can i do this?

Sir tell me, I don’t understand what to do after adding the campath. And it doesn’t work for me. Is there anything like putting an end to that specific scene? I really need to learn this man. Please help. My mouse cursor doesn’t move when I click on mouse4 and When click on “ESC”, it just moves normal and when I rewatch that scene, nothing happens, no cameras, no fancy angles.

Sorry if the tutorial was unclear, the technics shown in the video only work for "STV Demos", the demo that auto-records from your point of view won't work the same way

You can use that tutorial for pov demos yes but you'll indeed won't be able to see yourself, this is meant to be used with stv demos specifically

when opening some demo files with Lawena, tf2 crashes. i can open them without Lawena though. How can i fix this, i cant seem to find an answer anywhere.

I am trying to make a smooth, and I add cameras to the path during the path creation, as you did and when I open demoui and go back to the tick it doesn't do anything? I am literally trying to do the same rollout smooth but on sunshine.

Make sure you are working with a STV demo and your moves keys are bind properly

@@EmperorNightfall you can only do it offline by doing tv_enable 1 and tv_record "demoname" now for online if you play on tf2center or pugchamp after your match is over and the owner of the server ends his reservation, go to serveme tf and click reservations I played in, there you'll find a download to the match's stv demo

hey just a queation. how do you turn on min viewmodels in demos? ive tried tf_use_min_viewmodels 1 but it doesnt work, maybe i could change the coordinates so it matches min viewmodels, and if so what are the xyz values? thanks!

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, might depend on the weapon, skin or even players, it's pretty random, but I would actually advise against the use of min_viewmodels, it looks better without, but that's a personnal preference.

@@MrPgm7 I’m playing as spy with kunai, are you sure there’s no consistent way of overcoming the problem? Also thanks for the answer! Is there a way to slow down the camera movement? As in the speed that the camera moves, I mess with host and demo timescale and I’ve also tried sv_noclipspeed as well as some other variants of that command.

is there any good way to get small file sizes without too much compression? i keep getting 1gb+ AVI files even though im using Lagarith lossless codec in VirtualDub

No, and It shouldn't actually matter because the ending video will be compressed anyway, you'll loose quality one way or another, so it's better to have the highest possible quality for all your clips and make a final render using them, but feel free to compress them if space is an issue for you. Though, keep in mind that on top of the compressed clips needs to be added the final export and the KZread compression.. so yeah.. But you can surely manage a deal between quality and space using Media Encoder, up to you to decide.

Hello You won't be able to see yourself if you are doing this tutorial on a POV demo (auto recorded demo file from your point of view). This tutorial is meant to create smooths for STV demos, you can probably find STV demos on website like serveme.tf and demos.tf, all STV demos are uploaded there once your competitive match is over. If you are in fact using a stv demo, this tutorial might start dating.

You have to save the .tga files into a .avi, press F7 when you are in VirtualDub.

You recording an ASMR video or something? I can barely hear you and have to turn the video and my headphones all the way up to hear you. Otherwise, nice video.

Sorry to hear that, this tutorial may not be up to date, I'd recommand just using your tf folder for movie directory, some update may have broken this option.

They should appear if you properly launched Lawena with HLAE, but this tutorial may have aged and there are probably things that may not be able to achieve, I wouldn't know for sure.

You only get tga files once you hit "p" to start recording in Lawena, the movie folder is just the location where all the tga sequences will be stored, this is heavy files, that's why you need to make sure you have enough space on your hard drive

Hello, i have problems. I put slow mo (10%), type mirv_input camera for free camera, bind points with bind "q" "mirv_campath add", place points and then load to the ticks earlier (just before going with camera) and nothing changes, i'm just 1st person. I even tried to type after placing points mirv_campath enable 1, but it says "Warning: Campath enabled but can not be evaluated yet. Did you add enough points? " BUT I HAVE PLACED AROUND 10 POINTS BRUH

That's weird, make sure you have mirv_campath enabled 1 and exec recbindings.cfg in your autoexec.cfg

Suppose you click on the X button to close HLAE and then played tf2 through steam like normal. Could you still be VAC banned for that?

I don't know what you mean by the X button. There is no reason for you to get VAC banned doing what was shown in the video. You are just openning Lawena with HLAE and recording a demo/cinematics. Once you done, close Lawena wait for it do be done, feel free to double check if you have HLAE open if you want, but it won't be the case. You are free to launch the game normally and join a server after that.

Make sure you press your bind to add a cam when doing the second technic, you also need to put at least 4 camera points otherwise you won't have a path. It's a smoothing tutorial for stv demos anyway, so that might simply be the issue if you don't see anything happening.

SynciNG well its okay now since I downloaded the lawena and virtual dub but when I make a virtual dub video then export the video slows down for some reason after the first few frames and the audio slows down also so I don’t know why edit: never mind my computer was just stuttering a lot xd

Launch lawena again then quit it, make sure to wait for it to stop running after you've closed the game otherwise it will override your custom settings
