    The model for the original grenade launcher is wrong too cause of a nerf it has 6 chambers but only fires four shots.

    +DrIvanRadosivic -Loading 20 shots into a grenade launcher sounds broken & random crits aren't anywhere near relevant enough for that.- Edit: It turns out Ivan meant 2 shots, instead of 20. Not much else to see here.

    DrIvanRadosivic It sounds like the sort of feature that either everyone would use (at which point you might as well just increase the mag size, especially if Valve actually removes random crits from at least Casual) or no one would ever want to, im also not really sure on what other downside it should have as i never thought to myself 'i REALLY REALLY wish i had 6 pipes in my mag'. (Maybe reduced blast radius to have more shots to 1v1 Scouts with if it comes to it, in exchange for crowd control?)

    What I like about the LnL is that, since it's pipes travel faster, they also travel farther. It's shots are helpful in trying to hit a far away target where other pipes wouldn't. But at that point, you should probably just avoid the sightline that sniper you're challenging controls lol

    Or you could charge your stickies instead to get a bunch of distance, or aim at a 45° angle with the regular grenade launcher. Also, much like the regular grenade launcher, they *will* dodge your pipes.

    I love it against reflecting pyros. Firstly it's harder to reflect if they're not as used to the speed, also if they do reflect, it's harder for them to achieve something with it unless reflected directly at an enemy

    I'm kinda late to the party but: - pipes explode on impact Done, it's diffrent from other grenade launchers and works like a weird rocket launcher buffing the weapon but not so much or you could increase explosion radius and damage done to buildings - extra 20 does shit or you could increase overall damage by I don't know 15-20%? Nowadays It wouldn't one shot light classes but could help you 2 shot soldiers with banners and demoknights I think that the most fun idea is: - 50% clip size + 30% explosion radius + 20% damage + 20% damage to buildings (144 damage in total per pipe) + 25% projectile speed +/- Grenades explode on impact This way each pipe pack a punch but you HAVE to hit them because of small clip size

    Remove the damage buff the stock is literally too op and this shit is gonna be more op what i would like to do is just buff the reload speed and instead of the pipes getting destroyed they will just explode and a slower firing speed so you can precisely try to predict and not waste a bunch.

    Contact bombs seems cool. Like having to bounce pipes in the wall. But if it touches a surface the fuse time will shorten. Ive always wanted to do what meet the demo did when he bounced off the pipe to kill the pyro

    ​@@cpi3267 Not enough to help it. Maybe if it were apecigically designed to screw with Engineers, maybe have it deal eith the wrangler. I have an idea: - 50% Clip size - No rollers + 25% projectile speed + 15% damage bonus + Pierce resistances Now the wrangler has an actual counter.

    I suggest giving it back 10% extra damage, remove in pill, and give it an increased reload time, try to make it have a higher dps then stock, so if you hit all shots you do more damage Another idea is increased reload speed for each shot hit, with a cap at 4, so every time you hit you get 25% faster reload, until you can reload 100% faster. You'd lose 25% reload speed for each miss. That way you would get rewarded for playing well with it

    @Zesty Zucc The original Loch got damage capped to 124 when there was still random damage because one shotting people from across the map wasn’t something they wanted Demo to be capable of doing. I would agree with increased blast radius, since if you can hit direct pipes with both Stock and Loch, the Loch is a direct downgrade against groups. The difference between Nades and Rockets is that Nades have no damage fall off. If it could do 125, it can delete scouts from close range and over a mountain if you turned off timed detonation. The direct hit will only do like 40 damage at half a mile away.

    They could make it so it can deal 15-20% damage bonus again and/or make it mini-crit targets launched airborne but give it back the 50% less clip size and greatly reduce the explosion radius from -25% to -50% or -70% to match the Direct Hit but I’m not sure if those changes will make it too good like it previously was.

    People think that because it makes it easier to aim, but less rewarding, so hence its not as good in the long term, hence clutch. I do not think it is, but it makes sense to think of it as one.

    Fun fact: the Loch 'n' Load, despite being designed to counter sentries, is _objectively worse_ at it. Sure, it does more damage and does so at an easier angle but overall one clip does only 380 damage, where the stock could deal 400. Keep in mind the Rescue Ranger heals 75 damage at the same speed and in the end a level three sentry would survive with 126 health while with the stock it would only have 106. Feel free to correct my maths if I screwed up, I didn't really factor in timing differences with the lower clip size.

    If you hit two first shots (240 dmg, sentry onle has 216hp), you are destroying sentry faster, than engy would be able to react. But still: sticky-spamming and roller-spamming the nest is waaay easier

    "It's not that good" * Completely ravages enemies on footage * xD It looks interesting to me, since I find it more rewarding to hit a target than spamming and hope something connects. However I'm learning the stock pipe launcher atm and i'm scared to f*ck up all the progress I've made so far.

    I've been putting a lot of work in my demo recently and something I've realize is that you can lead the fight with a sticky to force specific movement and it'll be a lot easier because you know they're not gonna want to run over the sticky

    I love using loch n load and sticky jumper since you can 2 shot sentries, you can just suicide into sentry nests and completely disorientate engineers. Not practical but fun af

    If im up against a good amount of engis, i usually equip the loch n load because being able to 2-shot level 3 sentries from longer range is a big help. Also in comparison to the Direct Hit, the loch n load can actually splash the engi whereas the direct hit cant, so even if the direct hit has the extra shot, i find the loch n load better for sentry busting.

    There are some common misconceptions with this weapon: First, it's not designed to counter sentries, the advantages of the weapon vs stock in this regard are circunstancial, the reason it has bonus damage is so that it's actually capable of dealing with sentries despite it's downsides. Also, It barely makes aiming a little bit easier, and that assuming little experience with pipes, however it's significantly harder to deal with (dodge or reflect...). This means that this stat gives an actual increase in power: no matter how good you are with pipes, once the projectile leaves the gun anything can happen, a perfectly aimed shot that fails with stock may have hit if it was the loch-n-load. This is the soul of the weapon ''need to kill fast and pipes too slow''. However, this isn't even close to compensate the huge downsides of the weapon, it clearly needs rebalancing, and as for the decreased explosion radius, i just can't understand why it's there, i think it would literally make more sense if you invert it, so that there is a reward for going for direct hits. There are obvious reasons to compare this to the direct hit, however a straight damage bonus in a grenade launcher is just a bad idea, demoman=/=soldier. Over 100 damage without ramp off is nasty stuff, and rewards spam (imagine a semiautomatic huntsman). Here are some ideas, for the sake of discussion: -Increased knockback Pros: a skilled demo may now juggle and dominate his opponent, sacrificing area denial, damage potential and 'artillery support' for an outstanding DM capabilities, which gives the weapon an interesting rol. CONS: may be frustrating to play against. -Combo weapon: only two grenades, faster switch speed and head scalation. PROS: again, gives the weapon a new role, to pick off enemies debilitated by sticky spam or use as a demomix. CONS: perhaps some people may miss using it as main weapon? - Allow the projectile to bounce once, bonus damage but less radius based on distance bounced. PROS: adds power, creates a possibility for flashy/skillful shots, demo mains dream of direct hits after a bounce (meet the demoman, why?). CONS: favours spam, cheap kills, doesn't address the main problem of the weapon, threads into loose cannon territory.

    I think the reduced splash makes sense, since it gives you more of an incentive to hit directs instead of spamming in crowded areas

    I was thinking something along the lines of "more direct hits = more damage" so maybe draw from literally every single MOBA ever made, and do a "consectutive direct hits on the same targets deal 20% more damage per hit, in a 3 second period, up to a maximum of 3 hits for an extra 60% damage" probably a better way to word that but the gist stands

    I think it could be sort of a combo weapon, like the degreaser and flare gun, where it would have a faster switch speed and mini-crit on airshots, allowing you to propel enemies with the sticky launcher and then quickly switch to the Loch-n-load to get an airshot.

    I praise the idea of mini-crits towards explosive jumping enemies, the weapon already feels like the Demoman's version of the Direct Hit, but I feel it's (fairly) balanced with the increased damage to enemy buildings, it really helps sometimes.

    I thought of a couple ways to make the lock an load better, without giving it the damage buff back. 1st idea: make it a bit like the degreaser for pyro, give it a +15% faster switch from and too speed, and a +25% faster reload speed, and getting rid of the -25% explosive radius making it normal, What this would do is make it very good for a hybrid demo knight or a normal demo who uses the sticky bomb launcher more often as it would practically cancel out the slow switch speed for the swords and even faster for stock melee and reskins and would help switch faster into sticky bomb launchers and it would also help fix the less clip side because of the reload speed. 2nd idea: bring the explosive radius back to -50% but make it where there is no rollers to the pills explode on impact, so if it hits a wall or the ground it would instantly explode, but if you hit a direct pipe on someone it would increase the damage radius by +75%, making it have 25% more of an explosive radius than stock, but to even it out a bit I'd give it a -10% damage penalty but bring the clip to 4 again. This version of the lock N load would make it much better for crowd control and shooting in choke points but would also be a bit bad for 1 v 1s since you could technically damage yourself with your own pipe if close enough. Here is a much simpler version of the paragraph I wrote Idea 1 + deals 20% more damage to buildings + 25% faster grenade travel speed + 15% faster switch and holster speed - launched bombs shatter on surfaces - 25% less clip size Idea 2 (!) bombs explode on impact of any surfaces +Deals 20% more damage to buildings + 25% faster grenade travel speed +75% more explosion radius on direct hits - 10% damage penalty - 50% less explosion radius I hope these are good stat change ideas.

    so, Toofty noted that he feld right now weapon is good for finishing off enemies after using sticky bomb as primary. This looks like how it works now, and I think this also can be what we should persuade when reworking the weapon. My suggestion is to allow this weapon to have burst damage potential that, if you have decent aim with grenade lanchers, can hit enemies and finish them off. In exchange, LnL shall have limited long-tern damage potential. For example, further increase projectile speed (50%-75% maybe?), increase rate of fire by 25%-50% so nades can be launched in a quick succession and hit enemy fast enough (and probably better counter potential dodging) and automatically reload weapon when its not active (not unlike Crossbow). However, reduce clip back to 2 (so only 1-2 targets can be killed before reloading) and make reload 50% slower. Maybe also reduce individual grenade damage vs players by 10% This means damage can be dealt particulary fast and reliably, if you have decent aim and are used to new nade speed at least one of nades will hit - if enemy is pre-wounded by your other weapons you will finish him off. After that you switch off LnL to other weapons while it reloads, allowing you to finish off another enemy soon. But by itself it won't be as good, for dealing damage, you will have to rely on other weapons to take down sizable amount of of enemy health. Althrough higher RoF could allow to take down sentry before engineer realises it is attacked, but players healed by med is other talk. Especially if vs player damage is reduced.

    I think the LnL was originally supposed be Demo's version of the Direct Hit. No rollers or splash in exchange for more damage which could work in theory but in practice was busted so it went the way of over half the scatterguns

    preface: right now i think its a bit of a crutch and imma make a suggestion to help fix that by basically making it the demo equivalent of the direct hit as it was first meant to be. i think the stat block could be something along the lines of this: +10% damage (so it can still 2 shot lvl 3s but not one shot engies or scouts and a slight reward for direct hits) +15% fire rate (as a general buff) reloads the entire clip at once (stick with me here) -50% clip size (to put a lot more emphasis on what you do have) grenades explode on impact (a bit of forgiveness for near misses) -30% blast radius (not too much forgiveness for missing and can still spam corner less effectively) notice the lack of a travel speed buff for the pills so to remove a bit of the crutch aspect and not to throw off seasoned stock pipe players. i see this being super useful in all 1v1 type scenarios except against heavy if you can hit the pipes. lets say you are fighting a scout, if you can hit one and near miss the other before he can kill you than you win. they could counter play though by focusing on dodging until you have to reload and are vulnerable witch you can counter with a juke an pulling out a quickybomb etc. or when you fight a soldier he could usually use the battalions backup or conch passive to tank a second pipe but not with this. though if you whiff even one pipe slightly you are wide open. in team fights, instead of focusing on doing damage in general and having your scout or soldier clean up, it could look more like 'push in, 1 pipe, 2 pipe kill, backup, reload, repeat'

    What if it had a kind of fusion of the airstrike and the bazaar bargain? Every time you hit a direct pipe, your clip increases to some maximum, and every time you miss and/or die, you lose all of your increased clip capacity? The big downside would need to be related to reload times probably.

    One thing they could do to, not necessarily make it better, but make it more fun and unique is make it so that instead of pipes shattering on surfaces, make them bounce predictably off of walls and ceilings, but shatter on floors. Allow the pipes to direct hit people after they've bounced, similarly to the loose cannon. This would definitely raise the skill ceiling of the Loch n Load, and maybe even increase it's utility, being able to still deal direct 100 damage to people who you cant see directly. And as a fun thought, maybe give bouncing pipes a damage bonus (or even make them mini crit), rewarding you for both knowing how your pipes will interact with the map, and for being good at predicting you opponent. Imagine being able to pull off that stunt the Demo did to the Pyro in Meet the Demoman. But any way, the stat's for something like that could look like this: +25% projectile speed +Launched bombs bounce off of surfaces (no pill tumble means they always bounce predictably) +Bouncing bombs deal mini crits on direct hit -50% explosion radius -Launched bombs can only bounce twice before shattering (I don't think the ammo reduction is really necessary, losing traditional rollers as well as half of your explosion radius. If it did prove to be OP or a straight upgrade to stock, then sure, slap the -25% clip size back on there)

    I only use the LnL for helping destroy an engie nest that we're having trouble with. However you have to land those first 2 shots, if you hit shot one, miss shot 2, and hit shot three the sentry will live since the engine can repair enough to keep it alive.

    I think it's cool for training your aim in hitting pipes, since it directly punishes you for missing with it's smaller clip and the fact you cant rely on anymore cheeky roller kills. What I DONT like about it is the faster projectile speed. It can be useful, but as a demoman who REALLY likes the Iron Bomber, it completely fucks up my subconscious aiming.

    If you use the LnL as a training tool, when you switch to an actual good grenade launcher your aim will be messed up, the iron bomber is a better training tool

    Great vid! But personally i think its a really fun weapon. In the right hands that gun is really dangerous, and when it comes to building damage and the increased speed this boi is really good. I usually use it with sticky jumper and divebomb a engineers nest. Plus, because of the pill speed you can use it as a sniper. to snipe down nests or people far away.

    I have an idea, what about glass grenade pills? They already shatter on ground impact but what if you hit a player it gives a area effect of bleeding due to broken glass shrapnel.

    @@JimBimBum anything other than a bleed effect. Considering how the Loch n load is pretty much hitscan at close range, imagine if the force a nature inflicted bleed on you everytime it hit you. I think the Loch will forever be a downgrade to the stock considering the nature of pipes, and so there isn't a point to trying to buff it other than increased damage. Compare it to the direct hit. Normal soldier rockets mainly rely on splash to deal damage, while with the DH you have to hit directs to deal any damage. But because of that, a normal soldier player that usually doesn't hit directs will be rewarded with the DH. Pipes on the other hand, mainly need directs regardless. Rollers aren't an effective method of consistent dps, so when compared to the Loch, the stock will always be superior to it.

    @@hoffa9000 you're using a shotgun with knock back and trying to use that as a reason to say bleeding won't work. That's like saying the brass beast is a bad weapon cause the direct hit. It makes no sense and your only argument is you don't want it to do any damage so it'll stay a downgrade. The bleeding is meant to reward the player for landing their hits but the damage ticks increase the more hits you get to a maximum of 7 hits. 3Hp bleeding damage and makes the bleeding ticks 10% faster. It starts at 1.5 secs per bleed damage. It can be self inflicted explosive (when weapon is deployed) and self inflicted bleed damage (regardless if weapon is deployed) is doubled meaning you can't just run at an enemy and start shooting. *You'll be rewarded by keeping your distance and hitting your shots.* If you don't like that then you've never mained as the demoman.

    What if it returned one ammo to the mag everytime you got a direct hit kill, therefore rewarding direct hits, this would also make it more specialized for hitting pipes vs stock and iron. And to balance this they could completely remove blast radius damage.

    There was one little bit you missed about the history of the weapon. There was one more nerf before the last one you mentioned. It was originally changed so that it could only do 124 damage max, after that they nerfed it again to it's current state.

    I know I'm very late but, maybe pipes have 150% more damage so 150 damage but you only get two pipes. And it also has a 50% faster reload - 50% max ammo

    I’ve found that the faster projectile speed doesn’t come in to play until mid-long range, meaning that in close range the faster speed doesn’t really work all that much so in a close range 1v1 with a scout it’s even worse than stock.

    It should go back to a 2 shot capacity but way shorter attack interval so it's all about landing those two quick direct hits so deal 200 damage then reload two grenades at once like scout's double-barrel shotguns.

    Give the gun 4 pipes but have it fire 2 of them at a time (which would keep it in line with the model). You can then increase the direct hit damage of each pipe, while greatly reducing the damage of rollers, or keep the current downside and give it no rollers at all.

    To give it damage ramp-up (something like 70 close and 130 long) and the fourth pipe sounds great for me so it really is meant to be weaker close range, just as good at medium and better at long range

    I think if you shoot there feet they can get launched up a bit but long enough to hit them again with a pipe and a new stat meaning "enemies that are airborne from airblasts rockets or pipes take mini-crits" meaning they take around 135 damage instead of 100, that or increase the base damage by 20 doing 120 still not 1 shot but can kill classes faster

    imo it's training wheels, it punishes spam and roller reliance forcing you to get good, on top of that it's hard to dodge at a range ad bc the fast travel time it can hit ppl diving to cover whereas stock would have to lead the shot further making it impossible to hit them if the enemy is close to cover already. oh and it's a good quickdraw, handy to take someone out b4 they react, especially pyros (who can't even kill you with deflects unless they're really good at it, I've never been hit with my own pipe from this gun!) I think a good buff would be either: 1. bonus damage on consecutive hits within about 3 secs 2. +1 clip size and m2 fires both barrels at once, like the shotgun in hl2

    Perhaps borrowing from the direct hit? Keep the pill speed the same as stock, but decrease the spread of the grenades, give a damage boost to EVERYTHING of maybe 25%, make the hit box just a little bigger, and on every third consecutive direct hit it minicrits, at the expense of one grenade, your random crits, a smaller blast radius, and when you hit a wall or floor the grenade will explode on contact. You still lose out on rollers, but you can still get SOMETHING if you miss.

    The only reason why I use it is coz I have a nice pro KS sheen & effect plus it's pretty cheap to get a pro KS version of it since the grenade launcher/iron bomber cost around 5 to 6 keys when the loch n load costs 1.5 (at least when I bought it)

    I feel like the Loch wants to be like the DH, but right now, 3 direct Loch pipes don’t really do anything more than 3 Stock pipes. And Stock has a 4th pipe. And more splash. And rollers. Personally, I’d think a good way to change it is 2 pipes, massive splash, so there’s actually a reward for hitting, not just a constant punishment for missing.

    2 shots but with reward mechanism: getting a direct hit on enemy will reload a single shot instantly (blast hits do not count) . similar to the widowmaker for engineer.

    Honestly the Loch n Load should be the Direct Hit for Demoman. It should go back to having the ability to one shot light classes. However to balance this it needs to go back to 2 shots (also because it only has 2 barrels) and they can honestly remove the pill speed. I don't even want that because it messes me up when going back to stock or IB

    Man, I dont know what you mean, I like this better than any other launcher cause I dont spam and use it as the ranged contrary to the pan, with the sticky jumper I try to market garden with demo and if someone gets away or a heavy, I just direct hit them instead of dealing the damadge of a meat shot scout

    Okay let me clear something up. The loch-n-load is good for people that suck with aiming pipes. Since I suck at aiming with all grenade launchers (not the loch-n-load obviously) I started using it. Most of the time I get called trash in pubs but them I turn around and get a 10 kill streak with it. In my option it is a very underrated wepone. The projectile speed really helps with hitting air shots and dealing with sentry's, and no the loch-n-load is not only good for sentry's. It's a very nice side grade from stock. The only thing is the loch-n-load's clip but you can still kill a heavy or any class as long as you can aim your shots and yes the projectile speed helps with that. So in my option the loch-n-load is a good/decent wepone and it's not as trash as people say it is.

    I always looked at the loch-n-load as a direct hit for the demo man with the faster projectile speed and Less blast radius so I think that it should kind of do the same or a bit lower damage then the direct hit

    I don't like playing demo man but when I do I use the loch n load because of exactly what you said in the video. I don't play demo man if I can help it so the only way for me to be semi productive for the team is to use loch so I can actually hit something part of the time. Somehow I can't even spam with a regular GL

    I think valve should just make it a 50% faster projectile speed so that it actually hits things Another idea would be to double down on the sentry busting aspect and make it deal less self damage instead of traveling faster, that way direct hits could be easier because you would be close to them.

    It's supposed to be the Demo's "Direct Hit" so let it reward direct hits with extra damage but not enough to 1-shot light classes, let it keep the building damage since it's pretty much unnoticable with it's lack of rollers

    I feel like the damage ramp up with range would be a really neat idea actually. I think slapping that on the Loch n load as it is right now would make it viable. I wouldn't want to get rid of the bonus anti building damage tho, it has one really niche but surprisingly good use, and that that it makes direct hit pipes one shot mini sentries.

    I have a idea about the loch n load and how it can load up crits like the Diamondback and frontier justice, building up on destroyed buildings and players and activated by taunting like pyro's mmmph. If they want it to make it easier to hit enemies, make it rewarding for using a weapon that doesn't have rollouts

    I think I saw something like the loch and load actually having much better range simply because the pill doesn't tumble, in addition to the shot speed. I think the best use of the loch and load is using its range to play more defensively with your sticky traps, although it'd be a much better weapon if it just had a much faster, unique reload along with just 2 clip size. I also think it would be good to revert the radius penalty, and make it explode on contact with the ground, but reduce its explosive damage and add direct hit damage, so that it still does the same damage on a direct hit, but less on a collateral.

(and still had the other stats the same) That would be enough to kill a light class, if they didn't get to a health kit. And deal extra damage to other classes. Idk that would be kinda fun tho

    With its two barrels the LnL looks like it should be able to fire 2 grenades at once. Perhaps if they added a mechanic where you could charge it to fire 2 projectiles at once but at decreased accuracy? it would be able to one-shot soldiers provided you could land both pipes but i think the downsides would equal it out. Having to charge beforehand means you would need to know someone's coming, and consuming 2 ammo per charged shot means you'd be reloading literally every other shot, so I think it wouldn't be that overpowered

    My suggestions are kinda like yours with either extra knockback, minicrits on airshots or reverse damage fall-off but with something extra: semi-rollers. You get one roll and when it hits the ground, a wall or something else the second time, it explodes. Or maybe it could explode on contact with anything with the smaller radius it has now but then it's just a rocket launcher (literally just The Direct Hit with only 2 shots) so curve the arch a little bit more and maybe increase the reload or switch speed. Also, i know i'm extremely late. Sorry.

    i don't like the whole 3 shots 2 barrels thing, so i think trying to balance this thing around two shots is a good idea. the old way they did this was with increased damage per pipe and we know how that went. i think a better idea would be to make it reload both shots at once and make the bombs explode on contact with anything, a small direct hit esque blast on surfaces. and a larger blast when it hits players or buildings maybe even larger than stock explosion to reward direct hits.

    Could be reverted back to 2 pipes, the explosion radius reverted to normal, and if you hit both of your pipes directly, youll have minicrits on your next 2 pipes

    I think it should get faster firing speed, so it will be a sort of double-barrelled shotgun for the Demo. I think having a Force-a-nature that shoots grenades would suit his personality. (Keeping 3 shots or giving it 2 depends on your liking)

    What I think would be better is to focus it on long range. Do more damage at long range, minicrits on airshot possibly, and 4 pipes but also make it deal less damage at close range maybe as low as like 40-50 instead of 100. That makes it a risk reward where you get more potential damage if you hit long range shots but at close range you lose your main source of damage. That also allows it to pair well with the quickie bomb launcher for close range explosive damage and the hybrid knight set which could always use a little love because you'll already have close range damage with that set.
