⭐ Teyun Q-12 Teardown of a budget, inexpensive, low cost USB Audio Interface/Mixer 0028
Ғылым және технология
This is a follow-up video to my In-Depth review of the Teyun Q-12 USB Audio Interface/Mixer ( • ⭐ Teyun Q-12 In-Depth ... )
In this video I take apart (teardown) the Q-12, I show how to dissemble it. I discuss the construction, printed circuit board (PCB) layout. The quality of the components and include high-resolution (4K) images of the inside.
The Teyun Q-12 is a flawed, but usable device. It took good engineering to design, build, and sell this unit for the price they do. I enjoyed taking it apart! I hope you enjoy seeing inside this unit with me.
A copy of the charts that include the photos can be found here: chrisgrossman.com/yt/0028/tey...
You can buy Teyun Q-12 here (where I did for $16): s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_m0M...

Try lsusb to see what it identifies the chip as.

I had probed the part with both Windows and Linux, but I did not know about this utility. Thank you for the lead. When I probe it with my Linux system using lsusb I get "Jieli Technology USB Composite Device" I went to the ZhuHai Jieli Technology Co.,Ltd (杰理芯片) website and looked for the chip. They have a page when translated labeled "Mixer/live sound card series chips." However, all of the chip numbers listed are for Bluetooth chips, not USB-Audio chips. ZhuHai Jieli Technology Co.,Ltd (杰理芯片) is the manufacturer of the USB-audio interface chip, but I have not yet been able to locate the part number.
this is really fantastic for the price i only paid 10$ for it and all i can say is worth every penny.
You’re a great teacher. It feels like we were the students yesterday.
We should build a dual xlr input for a computer.
Thanks for the extremely detailed review and measurements! Is there some ways to improve Q-12? Will swapping resistors to 6.8 kOhm improve 48V phantom power? Please consider to do a video of fixing/upgrading the Teyun Q-12.
It would be nic eto see you shield the plastic case with aluminum foil and glue to mitigate EMI. I'll do this on mine.
Would it make sense to replace one of the mic preamp UTC4580's by an AD712 - for lower noise?
It is interesting though their bluetooth IC uses the same 24MHz clock. They make the AC1090/AC109N that looks similar but pinout not quite the same. Good teardown.
is it delay signal output or not?
I wanted to like this unit but unfortunately it failed simple testing. I just wanted it to power a Dayton EMM-6 Condenser Mic for car audio tuning. I did not get consistent measurements with an RTA. Th mic would start out fine but the lower frequencies just dropped off. Couldn't explain it. I measured phantom power at 39vdc. I think that should be sufficient but maybe not. I know the mic is solid on another Behringer UMC22 that I borrowed.

My measurements showed the phantom power was inadequate and essentially unusable, so it is not surprising you had problems.
Suppose we wanna add a switch to turn off direct monitoring , where would it be located ? Thanks 4 the video.

You would need to do that in your pc and set something besides the teyun as the output device.

@@Chris_Grossman Actually there's no setting for that as it seems hardwired into the device , but thanks to your video I figured pin 39 MSEL (Mixer) if set to Low would turn off Direct monitoring , is that true ?
