Textured Ash Bowl - New Power Tool!!! - Wood turning

A 4 inch (100mm) Ash bowl with some experimental texturing. This is first time that I have used my new rotary multi tool, and for a test piece, this little bowl came out rather well.
Thanks for watching.

Good looking bowl. Your textured feature ring looks great. Thought for the next one, prep for the ring as you did this time, burn the defining lines, do the texture, apply sanding sealer, paint the ring with some black paint, then sand back the top surface to bare wood. That will leave all the low spots the same black. Good job.

That makes a lot of sense. I'll try that out when I play with texturing again. 👍🙂

Lovely to see how you’re improving all the time (and I say this as someone far behind you on the journey). But I’ll admit the amount of glue you use for your maker’s mark makes me smile every time 😂

Amazing what a bit of freehand texturing can add to the beautiful woodgrain in the bowl !

That's a lovely little bowl. It's surprising how much difference a little texturing makes. I've never tried it in the few years that I've been turning but this has prompted me to give some a try. Thank you for sharing.

Great little bowl, I love the grain on ash. Just be careful burning with wire wrapped around your finger, always have a piece of wood at each end.

Nice work! I recently bought some texturing tools myself. I normally wouldn't say anything but watch about the thin walls on your mortise I've had them split. Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏🏻!

Very not bad! I'd have thought the wax would have packed into the holes and been a nightmare to remove.

I’ve watched several of your videos. I enjoy them and you do beautiful work! I see you use a sanding sealer and wax… what is the wax you use, just beeswax?

I genuinely use woodwax 22 clear, which is made by Chestnut (the same company as the sealer). Thank you for watching and enjoying my work. 👍

Nice bowl. But I was wondering if you had painted the textured area, then sanded it back so it filled the holes, it might be a more consist color.
