My kids are all grown 20 and over. The rule in my house was no phones at the dinner table and we ate as a family every night. One of my proud parent moments because to this day, none of them get their phones out when they sit anywhere to eat. Dinnertime was always accompanied with conversation. I used that time to get their input on current events. And it was the only time they talked to each other.
