Maybe you have to be present in person to receive the check? Like lottery winnings? Anyway, Ohio is just like any other state in the midwest (and better than some "midwest" states west of the Mississippi). I grew up in Illinois and there is plenty to do. It's not NYC or LA or anything. I live in coastal Virginia now and honestly it's much worse here. I'd go back to an ex-urban area with moderate weather in a heartbeat, the billion would only sweeten the pot. Heck, you can have an enormous house in the STL metro for under 250k that here would cost twice that. I imagine Ohio would be much the same, I'd spend a million up front and probably start a company or something with the next million or so, and sit on the other $998M (invested).

the amount of worlds out there are not infinite. there are insane amount of planets, yes, but the chances of a conscious life form appearing on a random planet is also insanely low (so many conditions and coincidences have to be met!). as far as science can tell, its not impossible for another life form to exist in another planet, but its hard to say if humanity can survive long enough to discover them.
