Yes as a Wisconsin fan, this match was real important because Wisconsin beat Nebraska 3-0 earlier and I wanted to know if Wisconsin got psyched out , but this match showed just how good this Texas team is and Matty S is the best player in he country IMO. Their serving was unreal

Two sisters two very talented players ! Avery Skinner became NCAA champion with Kentucky team 2020/21 season then in Kentucky Avery together with Madisen became champions 2020/21 season. Avery was on Team USA at the VNL 2023 Tournament and at the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifying Games. In the future the two sisters Avery and Madisen will play for the US national team and win international tournaments ! Madisen Skinner sister Avery Skinner is now playing in the Italian league ! Madisen should also go to play in Italy !

Imagine if you're a late bloomer and turn into a talented volleyball player but you opted for a low-end Division II school and were forced to be stuck in a bad volleyball team for four years, or if you were recruited to a top school but it turns out you're not good enough to ever get a game? It would be completely unfair for kids to be stuck with a decision they (or their parents) made at the age of 17 for their entire college career. I see the same argument against transfers in international (nation team) soccer all the time -- e.g. an extremely talented player who is born in a bottom tier country like Luxemburg shouldn't be allowed to move to France or England and play for them instead. Sure, it's tough on the team that loses their top player, but it's also not fair on a player who is either too good or not good enough (or not a good fit) for their original team. It's not exactly the same situation, but college students should come first, not the fans, and if that means student going where they can have the best chance to fulfill their dreams, then so be it. Nebraska will be a force to be reckoned with again next season, and it's entirely possible there will be a rematch in the Final Four. I highly doubt it will be as one-sided next time.

I love Nebraska, but this game was horrible. I understand why so many are trying to excuse it on our youth, but plenty of the mistakes done tonight have been things we have done much better in different games. In truth, we thought it was going to be easy, and when Texas showed that it clearly wasn't, then we couldn't just pick the effort up without the fumbling it completely. We played great most of the season, but we got our asses handed to us here and need to use it as a good learning experience for the future. Congratulations to Texas! You guys played amazing this year especially the last two games, and if it had to be anyone other than us, then I'm definitely glad it was you because you played to earn it. See you next year everyone and let's go Huskers!

Like I know there wouldn't be a lot of people saying what they did wrong because they would get dog-piled about "where did you learn to coach" or not excusing a shitting game, but I was surprised to not see anyone saying anything.

Sorry, I really doubt anyone who was serious thought it would be easy. Texas beat Stanford at home, crushed Wisconsin, who crushed Nebraska. I predicted Texas 3-1 or 3-0 and I hate Texas.

​@prism8289 Oh, I agree Texas had a great season and especially great last few games, but I was just pointing out flaws in my team's attitude that can kill your chances at winning. Of course, no one truly believes that it's easy at that level, but that doesn't mean that sometimes some teams walk onto the court with overconfidence that kills them in the end. "Thought it would be easy," is just an easier way to say that sometimes.

I went back and watched the Tennessee match and Texas gave no clue they were about to explode

Texas stood on business the entire NCAA tournament! They had to toughest road to the final in so happy they went back to back! Hookem 🤘🏽

It’s always enjoyable to see Texas crush Nebraska’s dreams, regardless of the sport.

They dominated the #1 ranked team. They dominated the # 3 Wisconsin Thursday. Beat #2 Stanford b4 that. Don't tell me you didn't see this coming! The coach of the year should be Texas' Jeritt Elliott.. The development of this team was phenomenal. Every phase of the game they are better than erybody else. Serving, getting in system, blocking, DEFENSE. This was never close.

Coach of the “YEAR” Texas was atrocious in the beginning of the season only peaked In December which is a good thing. John Cook (Nebraska ) was good all year around with only one loss. Breaking records everywhere. The performance in December don’t add to the performances from august- post season

My condolences to my Nebraska friends. I have many emails and texts about what Nebraska would do to Texas. In their mind the game was already over. The Nebraska coaching team did not make any adjustments to the jump float serving. Out coached, out played but still a great program at Nebraska. They will be back strong. Hook Em, Class of 1969.

Texas DOMINATED, pure and simple. Loved seeing this team win today, I thought it was gong to be a much tougher game after the first set.

I liked watching the match. It didn't matter to me which team won. I really don't have a favorite I just like watching the game. My only disappointment was it wasn't a 5 set game. Those are the ones I love to see. Texas definitely worked hard for the championship this year. My favorite was Asjia O'Neal's 4 aces in a row. Then she finishes the match with an ace.

What I used to say over the years Don't Mess with Texas

Here is my problem with Cook and children of the corn. They weren't complaining before the game b/c they thought Nebraska would easily beat Texas and reserved the right to win it all. They didn't complain b/c Nebraska was ranked #1 in the country. Nebraska had the entire Media backing them up. I mean everyone - ESPN, ABC, you name it. They were the USC before playing Texas in the 2005 BCS Rose Bowl. They were overconfident with the talents that Texas didn't have. They had beat Texas twice in the Finals before so they were entitled to beat Texas again. Cook thought he knew Jerritt and had a game plan and got it all figured out. Let's ask Cook and his children of the corn. Would you complain if Nebraska had won the game on Sunday and would you brag about how good you were with no seniors on your team? I think we all know the answer to that. Let's me put this to bed. Stop making childish excuses. Accept the loss and move on for God's sake.

Wow. Not a fan of either schools. I wanted Pitt to win because it’s the only team without a title. However, I’m a volleyball fan and thought 2 powerhouses playing for title would go 5 games. I cant believe Texas swept Nebraska aside the way they did, not because Texas is not good. It’s because everyone knows Nebraska is better than this. Hats off to Texas though, they shifted to high gear since beating Tennessee and they looked very impressive since then. Well deserved win. Congratulations longhorns.

Yah Nebraska normally is the blocking powerhouse but they had very few blocks against Texas, I was pretty shocked by that! Meanwhile Texas had tons of blocks, aces, and kills. They made Nebraska look downright amateur in sets 2 and 3, and Nebraska was by far the best overall all-season. I think Texas was just so fired up from their run and felt like they had nothing to lose and Nebraska buckled a bit at the end. But Nebraska will probably come back next year even stronger, so I'm not too worried about them.

Nebraska was too busy focused on the media and not on the passing. Not to take away the phenomenal attendance this year in their football field, that was a sight to see and to elevate the sport however, still gotta compete. Congrats Texas!!!

They got hammered by a great team Wisconsin at their home, and Texas was a really great team that hammered Wisconsin. It was easy to see. Nebraska was never more than #3 in the country, plus a bunch of extremely talented freshmen playing in very hot lights of the biggest game of their life. Overwhelmed.

​@@tylerdonald6050One of the announcers said also those hits were coming across at 40 to 50 Mph, Nebraska was getting balls served right at them at high velocity, which they had not seen to that level all season, they were also out of position on alot of them which is why you see the ball veer off their arms at a steep angle out of bounds. Wisconsin also mentioned they could not handle the Texas serving.

The national coach of the year waited until his team was down 18-10 to use his first time-out in the third set when his team was already down 2 sets to 0?? Can they revoke the award??

It was a pretty cool stunt from their perspective -- it set the world record for the highest attendance of a women's sports event in history -- but I'm sure they would have traded it for winning the championship today.

Easiest championship i’ve ever watched…but i’ve also watched texas try hard so many times only to get heartbroken in the finals, they deserve a stress free final. I thought after seeing how shaky stanford was, that texas wouldn’t have an easier match than that, and boy was I wrong! They clobbered the big 10 teams. Maddi skinner and O’neal are national team caliber players; I really hope maddi decides to go pro next year.

I think Texas will have something to say about that. Texas is the Champs, and the best in the country until someone else proves otherwise and takes their title. That Nebraska player writing checks her mouth can't cash by saying they will win 3 natty in a row. Is she so clueless to know you don't give other teams bulletin board material like that? She did her team no favor with her arrogance and big mouth. I don't like Nu, so will not be surprised when they don't win it next year, or the next, or the next after that. It's a fact that Nebraska lost only a single match until the national finals, and in the final match they were totally off colour . But in the final matches Texas, the Champains fully charged and were set as an unbeatable team.We can only hope and calculate and predict the future.That may not happen in the reality .As i said earlier there are so many fresh talents and only thing is how fast they cop up with the teams requirements.

Nebraska were underdogs to ME because they had NO seniors on their roster while Texas had super seniors (thanks to Covid). To you maybe you thought Nebraska would be on top.. but I knew this young team had to fight hard. Sadly it didn’t pay off today. That’s ok! There’s always next year hopefully.

@@montet793 I kinda understood what you were saying until you brought the covid excuse; that situation was the same for EVERY school. Texas is also a fairly young team with just O'Neal as the super senior. Texas also had to fight during the season to find themselves after starting 5-3. Somehow whenever Texas wins, some Nebraska fans (only a very few, btw) come out with these little digs. They beat 3 tops teams quite convincingly, and yes, there is always next year; however, you should know that most of Texas team shall be back next year, too.

@@G--Mann i mentioned the whole Covid thing mainly because EXPERIENCE. Texas is full of it. Some of the Texas girls were in college in 2018… the same ones who went and played for USA on their down time and years more in the college gyms while majority if not all of these Nebraska girls were still in high school. That’s what I meant when I mentioned covid…. The got another extra year of experience from it.

Can someone help me understand the seeding? It's like Basketball, someone told me. That just went over my head. What I don't get is how the potential for four #1 teams in the Final Four. Then someone said "well Nebraska is the overall #1. How do I know that? Wisconsin also had #1 and Pitt also had #1. What was wrong with the seeding format that we used for years? Top 16 teams were seeded. Top seed plays the lower seeds and so on a so forth. Now theres two seeding formats, Overall seeds and Regional seeds....I need help understanding this, Im sure there is a really good reason. Betting maybe, but for WVB? IDK. Help!

There are 4 brackets with a no.1 seeding, the winner of each bracket makes it to the final four, and they keep their seeding…all the no.1 seeds won their bracket except stanford, who I thought played poorly against texas before I saw how wisconsin and nebraska did.

Thank you, but it still doesn't explain why it's seeded that way. As late as 2019 the NCAA seeded only the top 16 teams. I just want to know why the NCAA is seeding volleyball teams like the basketball teams and what the benefits are. I think men and women's basketball also get a 4 team play in that also confuses me... but thank you. @@ajollypanda4175

Each side of the bracket has seeding and each number one seed won their side of the bracket to make it to the first Al four except Stanford! Texas was the number 2 seed! Or to make it less confusing Nebraska #1 Stanford #2 Wisconsin #3 Texas #5 Pitt #6

Each part of the bracket has seeds of 1-8 with the other 8 teams not seeded. Based on the last AVCA poll (Nov 26) the top 4 teams got #1 seeds in the tournament. Nebraska was #1 overall, Stanford 2, Wisconsin 3, and Pittsburgh 4. Texas was ranked #5.

I think Nebraska doesn't have enough exposure. They are young & without a senior. That's one big bet from the coach to just let these young girls to play in the national champ. They should at least get one senior transfer to aid the girls. I'm happy texas win, but sad when nebraska can't even catch up with it. nebraska need more more more serve received training.

They came out of nowhere? First of all check your spelling of "nowhere". Secondly, how can they come from nowhere when they were the defending champions? Since the early stage of the season when they went 5-3 as they were breaking in a freshman setter, they only lost one game since. They lost 4 games the entire season (the same number of losses that Wisconsin ended up with) and you have the nerve to say they came out of nowhere? Perhaps, YOU came out of nowhere to give this useless comment. By the way, Texas will have almost all of their players back, too!

@@G--MannThe Texas season ticket holding volleyball fans I know weren't confident of making it past Tennessee (and they nearly didn't!) and thought they had no chance of beating Stanford. Out of nowhere is probably an exaggeration, but the expectations weren't remotely close to repeating again this year. The depth of the talent in NCAA volleyball isn't that deep, and Texas lost both of the only two top 10 finishing teams they played during the regular season (Stanford and Washington State), so it's no surprise the fans were pessimistic.

@@EnglishMike But that is normal for most of the teams in history to lose a game or two to higher ranking teams but still go on to win it all so I don't understand how this is any different. Also, the "Texas season ticket holding volleyball fans", which I may be part of, is a small subset of a larger group of people who support Texas whom you don't know. It, therefore, makes no sense to base your generalizations on that small sample of people. Actually, most Texas fans were not really concerned about making it past Tennessee; if anything, most were cautiously optimistic to go past Stanford but maybe lose in the semis or the final. Still, a sizable majority believed they could win it all. If you didn't know this, then I don't know what to tell you as a Texas fan!

These two teams had totally different progression stories. Nebraska started the season strong but seems to have plateaued into the tournament. Texas started slow but really gained momentum when it mattered the most. I like underdog stories, so I’m glad Texas won!!! 🥹

Congrats, Lady Huskies, you did make the championship and that says volumes. There may be a reason for their loss not dealing with technicalities or stats, but that is something else. I hope they come back better next year. Congrats to Texas, without Maddie they would have never gotten this far. I hate that schools are allowed to trade and buy players, which is why Texas won also last year. Texas is looking for a name for its school sake, Nebraska and other schools are good due to actual coaching and players bonding.

Students should always be allowed to transfer schools if they want to. This is for them, not the fans, and they shouldn't be stuck forever with a decision they made when they're 17 if there's a better opportunity for them elsewhere.

I am so embarrassed for the Husker fans. Secondhand embarrassed because this is the National Championship Match. I cannot believe they let a random highschool Nebraska team through to this final round to literally embarrassed themselves on National television. This SHOULD NOT be a thing. NCAA, you need to do better than letting a random college team to the Championship match just for ratings, money, and sponsorships. What a disappointment for all the viewers hoping for an exciting close match. To all the non-volleyball fans tuning in for the first time, THIS IS NOT HOW A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH SHOULD BE. Please watch more volleyball because this is NOT IT. Pretend like this match NEVER HAPPENED.

You can be the best and still choke when it counts. It happens to the best of athletes in any sport. Nebraska has won five titles and this was their 11th championship match. They’re not a “random” team. They’re just as elite as Texas, Wisconsin, etc. Texas dominated, yes, and they absolutely caught Nebraska on their heels (saying this as a born and raised husker). Nonetheless, losing your marbles like that over a game, no matter the stakes, is just nonsense.

they wear those so they can dive easier. the other players have to option to wear them too. if you only watch volleyball because they wear “sexy little shorts” called spandex, you need to get off this page. this is absolutely disgusting and i hope you get the right knowledge before commenting some nonsense about a serious sport. i can’t even imagine someone wanting to be in a relationship with you after hearing your opinion on this. also you cannot get “penalized” in this sport. i have said it once and i will say it again. stop sexualizing athletes. it’s not my fault you once played on a high school football team and peaked in high school.
