Missed Tillman by four years and Howard by 1. But I know those guys were great. I’m happy that the selection people reach back a ways. Tech did play football before Spike. As for Welker, so glad he wound up here. So great. TMac, Good Time Tommy, the pride of Beaver Oklahoma, absolutely the best guy to ever guide the behind the scenes work for Tech football. He really ran interference for Leach a lot. And we all know Leach and Mumme changed the game. Welker was among the vanguard that pioneered what we all saw and enjoyed. Thanks for this show. Fun to reminisce.

It’s good to see Andre and Thomas get in. They were there during my days at TTU. Legend has it from TTU intramural basketball lore that Andre could probably have played basketball at the college level, too. If I remember correctly, Thomas was also a state meet class hurdler. Chris, if you looking for top defenders from the same era, how about Curtis Jordan? He’s a Lubbock Monterey grad and won a Super Bowl in ‘83 with the ‘Skins.

Have no idea where or what College football will be 10 years from now but these players , teams, Coaches, stories , and awards are from a time in Texas Tech football that were just special and heartfelt. Loved your Show today. Guns Up Red Raiders

Agree with Saul and Coleman to rep the defense, but go way back and don’t forget Ted Watts

Great episode. Tillman was beautiful. For a comparison, he was a better Jace Amaro. He would be murder in today's game. McGuire would be recruiting Howard heavily today. A hurdler that was a LB. Yes, he played at Dunbar H.S. 1976 a highly ranked Colorado game to the Jones for the first game of the season and Tech spanked them and Howard was all over the field. Right off the bat everyone went oh, oh this could be a special year. Wes was special, obviously.

I don't believe Tillman and Howard were chosen because they "represent" some of Tech's best teams. Those two guys were GREAT football players.

Another pick at the nits, Kirby. With the loss to Vince Ferragamo and Nebraska in the Bluebonnet Bowl, we finished 10-2 rather than 10-1 in 1976. One thing I found interesting about that 1976 season was that Rice’s Tommy Kramer was selected to many All-American teams, while Rodney Allison was selected as the All-SWC QB.

Welker in both Patriots losses to the Giants in SB. But in that legendary team of 2007 with Moss and Brady.

Graham and Byron's days are coming. Bam thoughts? James Gray, Lloyd Hill? JG + LH were quite a duo back in 89/90.

Sorry to nitpick, but Kirby needs to learn how to let a moment breathe rather than filling every second of the announcement with words. Sometimes less is more.

I want to comment on the segment not talked about... Yormark's money. I am a '94 Texas Tech grad w/ a Finance Degree, and I want everyone to think about 2 denigrating money amounts to Texas Tech. The first is this Allstate naming rights... this is complete and utter BS. here's why the math doesn't work for any member of the BIGXII. $50M/16 schools over 10years. This comes out to be $312,000 per year, and Tech doesn't need that money! We can cover that easily. Onward to this BS Yormark Private Capital idea. Let's 31:47 assume that going forward each BIGXII school has to repay 20% forever. $1B/16 teams = $62.5M in total. But don't forget Texas Tech has to pay $12.5M back every year. This makes no sense, period! That "for instant gratification" we will run out of that money that we just run out of that money in roughly 5 years... once we run out of that 'private capital' we will have to continue to pay every year 12.5M. That is why we need to stay clear of this 💩 money. We don't need this 'smoke and mirrors' BS that Yormark is selling, Period! Everyone think about the damage that is coming our way, and to every school in this league. Have a great day 😀.
