someone get this teacher a trophy because if bullies were treated this way instead of justified then we wouldn't have as many suicidal thoughts in kids heads or kids being scared to go to school. The lack of disipline that mom has is how most kids end up thinking their actions don't have consequences till they are locked up behind bars in the future.

Yes I agree that the mom needs to do a better job of disciplining her son. But what the teacher did still wasn't right because she told her other students to hit the bully and unless it was a self defense situation, it's still wrong regardless of what the kid did. Plus it teaches the other kids that if someone bullies you then it's ok to assault them and that's going to get them sent to jail one day when they're older.

As a victim of bullying at a very young age, this angers me. No one is concerned about why the teacher made every student hit him, sure it wasn’t the right way to handle it but at least she didn’t ignore it like every other teacher in existence.Whenever I told a teacher that a student was bullying me they did nothing. No one actually did anything about it until about 1 or 2 years later when miraculously a teacher actually noticed when they tripped me at lunch and they went to the principals office and admitted that this wasn’t the first time (and our parents got involved and made sure this never happened again and luckily it didn’t). I honestly doubt teachers and principals are ever going to do something about bullying 😑

I spent the better part of my life dealing with this crap and I'll be doggoned if let myself or anyone else go through it again. My condolences for the crap you had to go through. I’m an educator myself and this is absolutely disgusting. I do not condone bullying and I have a zero tolerance policy on it but forcing an entire class to hit one student? This is essentially condoning and encouraging a revenge attack….. Bullies are students who have issues that schools have the resources to address in healthy, safe ways and I don’t care if they are the worst bully on the planet you do not allow them to be assaulted and humiliated! This solves nothing, only adds to their issues and those who agree with this teacher’s despicable idea need to broaden their perspectives! Edit: I acknowledge the mother seems ignorant to her child’s actions, which is awful however that is her child and outside the confines of school nothing can be done except by her.

If schools have the resources to address bullying, then why is there an increase in school shootings? This teacher may have saved lives in the future by stopping a bully while he’s still young. It’s a valuable lesson. I was bullied mercilessly and almost offed myself over it when I was younger. I have sympathy for all criminals except bullies (pimps, mafia, etc.) and sociopaths. Too many teachers don’t do enough to end bullying. At least she cared enough to try something different.

What this teacher has done was very right and it teaches that whatever you give out to others/the world, it will come straight back to you. As a former student who has gotten bullied repeatedly… it resolves everything for the victim and punishes the bully with an actual punishment and not just a time out in the corner. If something was not done about this then he probably would have bullied even more in further grades. You saw how pathetic the mom was right? They know that we are going to call their parents. They go home early and often times get rewarded with sweets, junk food, and electronics all to come back to school and do it again. The teacher may have saved that child’s life because everyone will meet their match and you don’t want to get a call that your child is in jail or has been killed because they put their hands on the wrong person. Hey Mom, face your most important fact - that your boy was behaving in a way which made others percieve him as a bully! I agree with you that the teacher's decision was wrong. BUT the teacher lost her job: because of the wrong decisions YOUR son was making. I had the priviledge to work with kids in a school district for 21 years. I was in multiple schools a week. The WORST thing a parent ever does to their child is to teach their child "as your parent I believe that you can never do wrong, I will take up the fight to punish anyone who tells me different". Those kids learned immediately that their parents were ready for a fight with witnesses or accusers. This coping mechanism of his/her parent (s) got him/her out of the hot seat as their parent was immediately immersed in plans and actions to "punish" the accusing teacher, staff, or peer. These parents created a monster out of their child. The majority of kids whose parents never held their child accountable for bad behavior later got to visit their grown adult child in prison for violent felonies. Your child must bear the brunt of their bad decisions or you will create yourself and society sociopath.

T CR I made sure my children were accountable for there actions .. accountability and kindness were very high on my agenda from tiny children.. but that teacher was wrong.. she should have handled it completely different. What she did was invite group physical abuse.. not a good thing to teach the other kids how to handle the situation either. I agree the bully should have been taught better social responses, how he felt when he wanted to lash out and a better way to react.. with planned consequences should he do it again. Children of this age are still learning.. a good time to do circle time and involve all the children.. get them to talk about feelings, ideas.. consequences.. lots of learning opportunities can be implemented. But inciting abuse is dreadful, she should have been trying to stop it..

My son was treated like garbage while he was in grade school, starting in the first month of pre-K. He's always been big boy, taller and bigger than most of his classmates & because of his size, he was always the one that got in trouble for any kind of altercation that occurred with other students. He usually wasn't the one who instigated the fights, but he was always the one to get called a bully & get punished. His kindergarten teacher was the worst. She literally allowed and encouraged the other children in the class too treat my son like crap. And she was an older teacher and this was a Montessori program, so I expected a level of expertise & professionalism, which she failed to deliver. Because of her tenure, my complaints fell on deaf ears. To this day, I hate that woman & the principal & if I run into either of them, I have a lot to say that I couldn't say before. I hope I get the opportunity some day!
