The Urban parts are too big and expanding. I laugh when people move from California and move to Austin, Houston, or Dallas and complain about it being like the California cites. There is waaayyy more places in Texas than the cities and SO MUCH open country and rural places to see and move to.

"too big" Too big would be like Tokyo, Shanghai and Sao Paulo. DFW is only 8million, Houston is 7.1million and Austin and San Antonio are both 2million. None of these cities are too big. Top it all of they're cities, they're supposed to be big

Moved to Texas in 2019. First to Dallas, then to McKinney earlier this year. The goal is to eventually end up in a small town in order to truly enjoy Texas. Never thought I'd be the small-town type, but here I am dreaming of it.

Meanwhile when demand goes up and supplies go down then the prices go up also because the person still need to make the same amount of money even if they have less goods to sell so they sell at a higher price. It is called economic 101 but no learns that anymore either. Meanwhile we have vacant homes all over the country that need to be taken down and built new instead of keeping on wasting and taking land wildlife needs to live on. We need to stop being a throw away culture The sad think is that our billionaires have doubled their money in just the past 5 years where most Americans are even or worse. What I do not understand is why are billionaires not paying there fair share in taxes and why they are not helping more people and give better benefits to their workers. We need to be a society where we see these people as selfish and not people to look up to.

@@texasisfortexans7170 Well maybe you should think that though because someday due to climate change TX may not be a place where people want to live due to the hurricane and the heat. So we in MN will make sure you are not welcomed here either. As far as I am concern we would all be better if all the conservative took the South and made their own country and let the rest of the states on their own. Most states in the south are very dependent on the North and would not do well. For example for every dollar MN send in for federal taxes we get .45 back. For every dollar Alabama send in for federal taxes they get $8.00 back. Yet they are at the bottom and refuse to take a chance to do better with another party. Instead when you have one party in charge of a state for years with no input by the minority you usually end up with a lot of good old boy network where everyone in power is connected some how ( other then work) with each other. For example the Sheriff is the cousin of the Judge ect.

@@JAM661 you must not know how much prices for everything is going up in lefty states because we are not running normally as well as the country in general. Once we stop fearing this virus and get back to work things might get better but hundreds of thousands have been fired because of bidens mandates and other such failures. Yes, it's the lefts fault.

Texas is a nice state and all, but I really get the feeling that it's gonna become just like California in the near future. Cities like Austin already look like they belong in California.

They are spreading all though the US especially in the South. Another example is Tennessee. A lot are going there too. The highly red states I don’t imagine being red in years to come , or at least not overwhelmingly red It’s not all just California but mostly them in my opinion

Folks never mention that the city of Austin owns it's utilities. When they want to spend more money, they raise the utility rates. It's an indirect tax on the residents. I lived there 12 years. During that time, Austin and Seattle kept switching first and second place for the most expensive utilities in the nation. I left and don't miss it a bit.

I’m moving to San Antonio from San Diego, but once they hear my southern accent, they are immediately filled with joy (I’m from Louisiana).

Lived in Austin on and off for about 12 years. Austin is one of those places that was probably really awesome before everyone found out how awesome it was and then every kind of asshole you can imagine moved there causing it to be way overcrowded, snobish and pretentious as all hell, traffic jammed, and just tons of miserable, angry, suspicious, superficial personality types occupying every corner of it. I've been all over the U.S. for 50+ years and I rank Austin the most overrated place in the U.S. HANDS DOWN.

100% agree. In the early 2000s austin was still very much a place that was just a music town but then the music ordinance changed and tons of people from the IT world and the “artistic” types moved here. It’s absolute trash and incredibly self righteous.

My dad worked in Austin back in the early 80's and he said that it was a pretty laidback city during that time, and then the 90's came with all of those companies moving in like Dell and it hasn't been the same since.

A lot of the complaints people are making are not exclusive to Texas. A lot of these issues are going on in every major city in America right now.

Texas is not what it used to be too many transplants from other states have driven up the cost of living there.

Nah. Texas was ALWAYS a terrible state. Matter of fact any sunbelt state excepting California is terrible.

I grew up in LA and moved out in 1981 for the same reasons the panel is talking about in 2021! Moved to Austin and lived there for 30 years…same thing. Traffic, high rent, and horrible government! Moved to WA state to a small town, slashed the budget and dumped the car, etc. and living a GREAT life.

@@blackcherry6877 It’s never been called that. Ever. DFW refers to the metroplex that contains the DFW Airport- the world’s 2nd busiest airport. DFW metroplex refers to Dallas, Arlington (Home of the Tx Rangers and Dallas Cowboys), Ft. Worth, Plano, Frisco etc. There’s more cities, but those are the biggest ones in the metroplex. Dallas has 2 million people & Ft. Worth has about 1 million

Rockwall, Texas, 20 miles east of Dallas. Had a house built for $160,000.00 in 2003, then had to move. House now valued at $349,000.00. Texas can be Hot. Houston is hot and humid and probably has the most bugs.

That seems like an awful low rise in valuation for a house over 20 years. I bought my house in a small city in Maine for 123,000 in 2017 and its sale value as of August 2023 is 335,000. But housing cost in southern Maine have gone crazy. Many people from Massachusetts and New York are moving here and compared to their housing costs, Maine is still cheap. 335,000 is relatively low for southern Maine. Central and Northern Maine is cheap. You can get a very nice house along the coast of mid Maine for under 300,00 and one inland for under 200,000.

moved to corpus Christi , Texas 7 years ago.. was one of my best choices of my life .. i absolutely love the beach here.. its smaller city 300k people, feels like plenty of stores for amything i could want . but a small city vibe , lots of green open spaces . i love fishing and long walks and BBQing on the beach .. plenty of manufacturing jobs here. if i am off work on a Tuesday afternoon i can sometimes go to the beach with the dogs and be the only person there. . my only real complaint is it is a little too hot /humid 4-5 months out of the year. .truly i could not be happier living here.

As a recently escaped Californian I am so happy to be here near San Antonio Texas. I've wanted to come here for several years and I finally got my opportunity two months ago. Life is wonderful here.

All of the big Texas cites , especially Austin were great places to live until about 2010. The only city that I find remotely livable when visiting the state I was born and raised in is San Antonio .

I've been anxiously awaiting a redux of your original unboxing Texas video. I'm someone who's grown up in the DFW metroplex nearly all my life and the growth has become so uncontrollable and urban sprawl even more unbearable. The influx of people moving from other states (and other factors) has drastically increased the price of housing in the last few months alone. Some are buying said houses with no intention of even living in them themselves (Renting out property). Summer's are absolute hell too, 80-100+ degree weather for a period of 6 months is becoming easier said than done (especially when the energy bill comes in the mail). Gas is pretty cheap here though, but you're also driving a lot more than you would if you lived in pretty much any other town in the US. Though I love Texas to death, there's just too many people here now for my tastes, sadly my plans are probably to leave here soon...

The population growth is making the quite outdoors a congested horrible experience. The cost of homes has driven a number of young Texans out of the market. To many companies coming in buying and renting homes.

The HOT AS HELL summer weather will force the Californians back to their state.

I live in McAllen Texas and it's growing way too quickly and changing for the worst because of all the outsiders that came here since the 2000s.

I lived in Kyle a few years ago. Close to Austin but low traffic and great people.....but, the heat in the summer - brutal.

Yeh my friend moved to Texas in 2014 and he warned me not too come over in the main summer months as it’s just too hot, to the point it’s oppressive. He said you’ll only want to go at night after sundown because it just gets too hot during the day. So I flew over in September and it was still hot then. I dread to think what it must be like in June/July☀️😱

It's interesting hearing some places not wanting people moving there. I live in CA but a smaller county...so a lot of people are coming from LA and San Fran...I'm constantly hearing friends and family complain. People are over living in these large cities and with certain conditions...it happens. We got pushed out of our hometown and now we have to look into moving elsewhere...so really it's just a chain reaction. Can't really blame people wanting a better life.

I appreciate your pronunciation of those border Mexican states. I'm from Nuevo Leon and the current governor Samuel Garcia announced that there is going to be a new freeway which connects Colombia, Anahuac, Nuevo Leon (close to Northwest Laredo) and La Gloria close to Nuevo Laredo, in order to avoid Tamaulipas, so "regios" can go to Texas directly. It's funny that Monterrey is closer to the Texas Triangle than El Paso lol About the video, these area my 5 favorite cities to live in Texas: 1. San Antonio 2. DFW (my father and sisters live in Arlington) 3. Houston 4. Austin 5. El Paso

God bless Bronco? .. kidding, but yeah DFW has a lot of shi**y parts too, Arlington is ghetto af now a bunch of lacras invaded it around 2016 and lot of my highschool friends from Arlington moved to Frisco to get away from it. Regios are cool af, but I think they stay in Grand Prairie(see a bunch of Tigres Jerseys at Traders VIllage) and Plano now,. To be real, I wouldn't really consider PLANO and Frisco as DFW now, they feel like their own identies and it almost reminds a lot like Anaheim and Orange County California, whereas Dallas feels like a St. Louis Missouri at night, Arlignton feels like Compton, Ft Worth like a Oklahoma City 2. #1. Frisco,Plano & Mckinney #2. Garland, Richardson,Carrolton #3. Round Rock Austin #4. San Antonio #5.Mcallen #6. El Paso / Juarez/ Las Cruces - Proper Dallas like Oakcliff and South Dallas and West Dallas suck and very ghetto -Proper Fort Worth like Stop 6 and its Eastside are ghetto too -Houston Guacala

Houston is I where I live and work…not the prettiest area but very convenient and accommodating with a relative low cost of living. When we want to get away from the sprawl we visit places in the Hill Country…Austin, San Antonio and everything in-between the two cities. Also we recently visited Waco and that seemed like a pretty cool small city to live. Another good thing about Houston is it’s easy to travel when you live here…we have two airports and the port of Galveston from which we can go on cruises to the Caribbean frequently. One more thing…the best thing here is the variety of food you can get…Tex-Mex, Cajun and Creole, Asian, Barbecue, Nigerian, Caribbean, Mediterranean….so much good food here…

Did a long walk downtown Austin and was shocked with the homelessness on nearly every single street.. Blew my mind!

Ye it sucks. Gotten so much worse since the pricd of living started to go up. San Antonio and Houston also have much more homeless people then they had a good 10 years ago. I've been to San Antonio countless times and it would be uncommon for me to see a homeless person. Nowadays there are a lot of them in the downtown area, not as bad as Austin tho.

What’s funny is when it’s a democrat/blue state it’s “oh it’s the democrats” But videos about the south don’t even get views compared to the ones about blue states. The truth is the same issues in red states are also in blue states. There’s homelessness everywhere. There’s overpriced properties in both blue and red states. There’s drugs, crime, lack of jobs in every state. It just depends on which part you’re in

I'm from the RGV area and it's NOT run down, it's just low salary area. Not all citizens can afford to have luxurious homes. Move to the RGV 14 years ago from New Jersey, I testify that this area has leap forward in every way. 😀

Here’s a fun fact, in 1930 Cleveland, Ohio had more population than Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin combined 900,000 vs 800,000 for those four cities. And this figure doesn’t include Cleveland’s suburbs or satellite cities, for example just Lakewood had more population than Austin. Texas is a great state but its also a lot of mundane sprawl.

@@michaelwhite2823 it's a great city and a great value compared to the real estate prices in the rest of the country. You can still find a large home here for under 100k. Cleveland has a lot of nice things, the best hospital system in the world in the Cleveland Clinic, a great downtown with 3 sports teams, a casino and vibrant nightlife, nice tree lined streets, a great food culture, lakeside beaches, many bikeable neighborhoods, lot's a great cultural institutions, parks, libraries, universities, museums, excellent transportation links, all different kinds of suburbs if that's your thing, the list goes on and on.

@@daquariussmith9772 no doubt, it just shows how much Texas has boomed and Cleveland has declined. One stat there I would dispute is the land area, Cuyahoga County, of which Cleveland is the seat, has 450 square miles and 1.2 million people (use to have nearly 2 million). Houston city has 670 square miles and 2.3 million people. Dallas has 330 square miles and 1.3 million people. So they’re not all that far off. The problem with Cleveland city is it covers a very small area, only 75 square miles while Houston has nearly 700 square miles. Still even in that 75 square miles it used to have nearly a million people. The enlarged metro area including Akron and Canton has about 3.6 million people. As the sunbelt becomes more overcrowded, huge traffic and expensive Im hoping the “rust belt” can make a comeback some day. Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, St. Louis, Buffalos, etc. are cheap and light traffic.

@@CheapCharlieChronicles Yeah that's fair, I was using the other counties that they include in the "Metro area", ie Geauga County, Lake County, Lorain County, and Medina County in addition to Cuyahoga. And yeah Cleveland seems like a beautiful place/ underrated gem in some ways, I was just pointing out the flip side to Cleveland being so prominent/big in comparision to Texas cities in 1930.

@@CheapCharlieChronicles I agree with you on Cleveland. I moved to a town outside of Cleveland that’s right on Lake Erie and it’s a great place live. So affordable and the city of Cleveland has so many fun things to do. Yes, the winters are gray and we get snow but it hasn’t been too bad these last couple of years. The summers are never too hot like I had living in Oklahoma or even Colorado. I move with my family quite often and Texas is on my do not move to list for several reasons. The heat down there is one of them. Sure, Cleveland has problems but most places have their good and bad points. There is no perfect city.

When a state is in the headlines for popularity it has reach its zenith

One time I saw an office chair and a heavy old fashioned office desk under an overpass, in Houston, Texas.

That was a super cool history lesson I like how you win in-depth into the way we was called the Lone Star State and the war between Mexico and Texas I didn't know about any of that that was really awesome it's too bad you didn't give the Civil War battle more than just a flick of the violin or whatever that was

I live in Sugarland TX and it's a great suburb. The closer you get to Houston the worse it is. I was born in California and my parents moved to Texas in the 70s. There are so many Californians moving here. The cost of living is going to go sky high! Look at Austin. After my father passes away I'm moving out or I'm going to Texit! Hmm,🤔 where to go though? Anyway great videos! 👍

Texas is getting expensive for Texans. Sad but true. I know so many people who have 2 or more jobs that are still scraping by. Quality of life isn't the same. Either you've got money for bills, food, and nothing else or you have to work to have more money and no extra time to spend it.

Texas is huge and much cleaner than California cities. Cities in California are beginning to look like slums especially downtown Los Angeles , Oakland and downtown San Francisco area which is littered with homeless encampment goring so rapidly that it's out of control and there is zero hope for any improvement. Gas is overpriced here in California where its $5 per gallon along with high home prices that is out of reach completely. Not to mention high taxes which our politicians loves to waste on useless program. California has became a criminals playground there is no consequences for their crime. It's like giving them a slap on a wrist and let got. Criminals are kept in jail for only 8 hours and freed again. Cities are looking like a trash bin with lots of illegal dumping everywhere. Bottom line is that cities in California are turning into a ghetto. No wonder the state's population declined and companies are moving out.

Beginning to look like the slums? It’s the slums already. When homeless people are literally s#*tting in the street in broad daylight you know the party is over. In San Francisco the residents can even download a poop app map that gives you all the locations of the latest turds on the streets, so you don’t step in it. Apparently places like Skid Row in L.A just wreak of s#*t and urine. Especially in that warm Californian climate. Imagine it wafting through the streets as your about to chow down on a nice burger and fries🤢🤮

Lived in Texas since 1962. It's a big state but I think In pretty familiar with it.

What most historians ALWAYS forget is Mexico was against SLAVERY. It wasn’t GUN’s, the Tejas or Texans wanted the freedom to keep their slave economy.

Yeah original US migrants to Texas had their slaves sign indentured servitude contacts to get around the fact slaves were illegal. To be honest the friction between Texans and Mexico was inevitable as it was literally two different cultures and Mexico was hands off until things started to actually develop. Mexico looked the other way because they didn't have the ability to actually govern the whole territory but eventually with all things they eventually stopped ignoring it and things went south from there...

I love my state and I live in San Antonio best citY in Texas, but it’s a big joke how tourist think the battle of the Alamo was fought over Texans and Tejano’s wanted their freedom. That’s only partially true. We still have acorns like our Governor, but still can’t MESS WITH TEXAS. it’s the people and mixture of cultures that make our state great, not the politics.

@@pamlaenger6870 yes and no, you talk about reading history but then make a wildly misleading statement. Spain made slavery illegal well before Mexico gained it's independence, during the years following Mexico's independence the government failed to enforce it's laws across the territory, slavery was still illegal. In fact their inability to govern the whole territory is part of the issue that allowed Texas to grow as it did and fight for independence. So pointing to what was happening in Mexico and inferring slavery was legal is a misrepresentation of early Mexico. To be honest Mexico still has trouble governing and policing it's country so you can imagine how it was as a newly independent government with more land than they can possibly govern.

@@pamlaenger6870 True, Slavery is not all and inclusive to just Africans. History is reap with the servitude of all races of slaves. The focus here is about Texas and the white southerns who wanted to continue their African slave exploitations and the Tejanos (Mexican empresarios) who encouraged the continuation of the same slavery.

So that history (slavery) was hidden until 2018 when it was first mentioned. Mexico asked the Americans to settle the area now know as Texas because the Indians were wiping the floor with the Mexicans in Texas. Once the Americans got the area prosperous Mexico wanted the land back Ask any of the many families who have lived here since that time. FYI The Indians and Mexicans held quite a few slaves

I lived in Arlington from 2020 to 2023. I had 9 interviews (I am in I.T.) in 2 months and they didn't even have the decency to tell me I DIDN'T get the job. I tried online dating, and I got ghosted by so many women I have lost count. So much for the "sweet women of Texas"

I read that the Texas flag was a blend of the Polish and Scottish (St Andrews, in color only) flags, in representation of Scottish and Polish settlers being the largest groups to settle in Texas initially. It certainly explains the large number of Scottish names throughout the DFW.

My first impression of Texas is from the move Alamo(2004) I kept calling DenniS Quaid Sam Houston from a long time😑

Please do an exclusive video just on New York City alone. (5 Boro's) New York has always had wonderful places that are the best in the country but also has had one of the worst places in the country. Most People don't know. There's mansion in the Riverdale Section of the Bronx as well as Jamaica Estates in Queens. Then there's the Rich Upper east side of Manhattan and then the bad Harlem and Washington Heights. Also do a video on Long island. (Nassau and Suffolk County) A place where millionaires live and also places that can be bad as well.

Great video Mr.Johnson I’ve never been to Texas but being a Florida resident I wouldn’t mind taking a trip to the “Lone Star state”, to experience things like Big Bend National park, the Alamo, a Dallas cowboys game (I’m a Miami dolphins fan), try some Texas BBQ, and just experience Texas. Texas has some of the problems that Florida is facing like high influx of people moving in, constant building of homes, apartments, and home values going up and other issues but hey no place is perfect. Not to mention both states have no income tax, also this is a question for the natives, would you consider yourselves being the most hospital of all southern states ?

@Big Dick Black also one my previous bosses was from West Virginia, lemme tell ya he’s good hearted person, and when I would go to North Carolina I was always happy with how the North Carolinians treated me. As for the west coast I’ve only been to Washington state and Alaska, I was going to Alaska for a 7 day cruise, we didn’t really spend to much time on land but I would imagine that the locals have a love hate relationship towards tourist. Canada was the only foreign country I’ve been to I was in British Columbia, again we didn’t have much time be around the locals but from what people say Canadians are nice.

West texas was run down and a few nice people . East texas felt like heaven in America 🇺🇸

The people in texas are defl the nicest and most generous that i have ever seen and met and i have lived in many. This is 100% true

Went to college in e paso from Portland and have been trying to get bak for 20 years. love it there.

Dude lets get this clear. Almost all the Corps did is move their head quarters to Texas. The main reason why is their incentives and tax breaks ran out and are not getting renewed. They all have buildings/property in Cali. So many of them can move back when things go bad in Texas.

Loving how people are glossing over the property taxes. Pretty sure it's one of the highest in the country after New Jersey.

I was born and raised in Texas I recently left, thankfully! It’s not a bad place but I laugh every time people leave other states and head there like it’s some “safe haven” with a “booming economy “ Yeah there’s jobs but most don’t pay enough and yeah there is no state income tax….but if you own a home you’re gonna owe an arm and a leg in property tax every year. And not to mention there are way too many people and the weather is TERRIBLE freezing windy winters, fall lasts 3 days spring lasts 3 days and ridiculously hot summers. I’ll always be “Texas” kid I guess but I won’t be moving back there anytime soon

I don't like the Texas weather. Rents and houses are getting more expensive and property taxes as well. Salaries in general are not keeping up. I recently left Texas and went to a place with much better weather.
