I remember when this first aired I was watching it in my bedroom and my Mother was watching it in her bedroom. We both was like oh dang he missed the note!! I been trying to hunt down this episode FOR YEARS. But on a SERIOUS note: IT HAPPENS!! he was a child prodigy and I'm sure he was tired from all the performances he had... We're human. Naw boo Tevin wasn't nervous. I remember back then me and my Mother was commenting on how arrogant he was acting during this performance and then when he dropped to his knees nothing came out. But the thing is, he's human and shit happens. I tend to agree more about his voice being tired because Tevin was a major superstar then and he did a lot of performances.

It caught me off guard when he missed his whistle. However, we all know that he can hit that note. I seen recent performances with him hitting that same note. He's a trooper for powering through that performance and he can sing his face off too. 😘😘

There is tremendous stress on the vocal chords when you are nervous. All those people…your brain sikes you put.

He was still going through puberty at the time. His voice was changing. Believe me, I've been there and know how that is.

That Duke Kit was on point for this performance.

What happened to Tevin in this industry as well as many other young artists is a big shame. It's not just in music but in many facets where our kids trust those who are supposed to look out for them. A very talented artist who contributed to the movie soundtrack of my life. Credit where it's due always.

True because Google says he was born 1976 so in 1991 he definitely wouldn’t be 15. He probably just needed rest after performing this song so much. Again the industry didn’t space out his bookings. All about the $$$$

It’s ok sir! That s&&@ was high AF! Once he couldn’t feel it he should’ve pitched it lower and descended instead.

His voice was changing rapidly, he couldn't hit that high note anymore. Found out live.

Celine Dion admitted she couldn't sing live and sound anything like her recorded songs. She embarrassed herself on an award show singing live and almost left the business for good. She actually went to a voice coach for many months of lessons to learn how to project her voice to sing live. Only then did she agree to do live concerts. All things considered Tevin you missed just one note. Considering the circumstances you did just fine.

@@MalikDJefferson I know because it happened to me. I was able to hit whistle notes when I was 14/15 then when I was 16 i kept trying and trying all day one day until I just had to accept that it’s not the same anymore

Awww! Tevin missed the high note. It sounded like he aimed to whistle but couldn't reach it for a variety of reasons: he dropped to the floor, different song arrangement, change in voice to the 2nd album, etc. Apollo performance was much better.

His voice broke on the high note, so sad, but still 99% of the song sounded nice

That’s a hard note to hit (especially when your voice changing), I tried the other day and coughed my lungs out. Either way he still sounded good and finished with confidence!
