A long time ago, at the first viewing of this magnificent film I found myself staggering of awe, having experienced the tremendous power of Prokofiev's music combined with the powerfull images created by Sergei Eisenstein. As a homage to this memory, I wrote this piece of music which I present to you, taking the liberty to borrow some scenes of the actual movie with great respect to its creators. This is the second piece of Teutonic Marches trilogy.

Belle musique, bataille épique. L'époque où les guerriers étaient vaillants, et avaient un code d'honneur. Maintenant les commandeurs font la guerre au format politique... bien à l'abri derrière de beaux bureaux. Le malin l'a emporté.

In the real Battle on the ice, the Knights made a very bad mistake of taking horses in armour, on ice, on foot they may have won the battle.!

We don't have a full description of this battle. But no one speak of the ice breaking. We are not sure about this and some thinks that was one of (many) modification for the film. We know that the knight charge in front ( very knightly) with infantry behind and their was enveloped by Novgorod's cavalery and mongol's allies cavalery. And the Teutonic's army was estimated as 1. 000 men ( as 300 knight) and Novgorod's army was estimated as 5000 . On foot or not, I don't think they could win .

@@gaetarrow8692 you don't understand, you Do Not, take horses, in armour on ice, historical facts, they Did fight on s frozen lake, you can read it verbatim, from eye witness accounts.!

There is one scheduled to be uploaded in a few weeks. In the meantime if you are intrested in WW2 you should listen a piece called "Τhe Motherland Calls" which is inspired from the battle of Stalingrad. The problem of course is the copyright issues with the footage which makes very difficult to blend music and video.

The swastika was not only a Nazi symbol, it was also used in medieval times, mostly by Baltic people, but it also existed in Germanic culture, but I think they actually put that on their because the scenes are from a propaganda movie from 1938, so the Teutonic Knights were symbolized as child murdering nazis, which in reality the knights weren’t of course ( yes children died in raids, but they didn’t burn them alive ) The knights act more like Nazis in the movie than the actual Teutonic Knights, so yeah I think the symbol was put on there for symbolic reasons.

4 right angles, intersected at a central point. It's history as a symbol is depicted throughout numerous civilizations. rotate the angles and you have a cube. The position of the Big Dipper in the sky throughout the four season, always pointing to the north star. The four directions. The Spiral of the galaxy. It is a powerful and ancient symbol and should not be tarnished by an adopted bias due to a blink in time.
