Tetra Ex 800 Aquarium Filter Review

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is an older video I made a few years ago, which I decided to reupload on this channel since I believe it is a good one and the filter is great and I still have it! The tank is definitely not up anymore :P
The Tetra Ex Filter is to this day the most silent filter I ever owned and I think it's worth giving it a try!

Hello Danny, Watching your video, I realized that Marineland and Tetra are the same company. They advertise their product lines a little different but at the end of the day they are the same products just with different names and slight variations in colors. I used the Marineland Magniflow 360 which is the same filter you are using in this video except on a smaller scale. I used mine in the 75 Gallon / 284-liter tank i Have. As for the media baskets the way I run mine is basket number one which is the first basket you put in I use three different types of sponges. Coarse, Medium, and Fine for the mechanical filtration. Baskets 2 and 3 are nothing but biological filtration and I have used various types of bio media over the years. However, my favorites have been Fluval's BioMax ceramic rings. and in Basket 4 which is the upper most basket I usually run some sort of chemical filtration. I have a planted tank also but have found and used carbon which is made for planted tanks. It's called ChemiPure Green, and I also use Fluval's Clearmax media which removes excess Phosphates from the water column. Because as you know the number one thing which algae will feed on is Phosphates. I run that order of media in all of my canister filters. In my HOT (hang on tank) power filters I only used Sponges, Biomedia and filters floss. I have used for over 20 years the Marineland Emperor Pinguin 400 HOT filter. The one in my 75-gallon tank right now is 19 years old and I have another one who it's over the 20-year mark. www.amazon.com/Boyd-Enterprises-Chemi-Pure-Aquarium-Treatment/dp/B01N0TOWE3/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3THYESBKEOE35&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.2uJWgoT5eBA_6sAMojxtVG41RdJMITmTv1h3tf_Jsvuq1lu3BhZpTVpFfJMujsze9KITLZdbgJEWP9bq_kEF7E52faV_xJYnngZwBva0WjoT2qoU6jxVrXX4_fCV1AkWCXzACuct6yinJLV37PHQ9H0-0OEGfmA7AIJg2byigwVHssFrIfTwJmhD2UlGIIDIQbz_kWNqUrFSYMBofSa0pUzz6bRWKkpwpKX7FDGdXvD5auIzvDxcM3VcAKYQHr-SyOcCOurADuK_Oo5YEh9aZRCakQqUNy4JyAcrtAEeE90.Bn8jN3AMzz31Y2JhOA2RIhwzNRboA_CT7RGP0JPVGz4&dib_tag=se&keywords=chemipure%2Bgreen&qid=1717275775&s=pet-supplies&sprefix=chemipuregreen%2Cpets%2C126&sr=1-2&th=1 V/R Carlos.

what a great unboxing and review video! i just got a new canister filter and was thinking of recording the unboxing and review and this came up on my thread. Google knows what I'm thinking. thanks for the tips on the sponges and glass lily pipes. I got some aqua rio neo plastic ones, so hope those don;t crack. Finding glass in the seachem matrix is pretty insane! keep up the great work and will be watching more of your videos!

I'm in the camp for water flowing is the key to spread the CO2 so you don't have to deal with that nuisance algae 💚 Just the fish and the glorious plants, as far as overkill..... Not a chance!!!!

I understand the about to corse sponges letting a lot through but having the sponges going for course to fine in the filter stops the polishing sponge from getting clogged to quickly so you don’t need to be maintaining as often and that intake sponge I agree is definitely not right for that size filter. It seems like a nice filter over all maybe a bit over kill for a twenty gallon but I’m in the camp of sponge filters so I’m a bit biased.

Weird - my hydor (the prime 20) actually has an entire lift-up handle. Bit noisier than I (and especially my dear significant other) would like, though.
