Testing Wave Wands GHD vs Babyliss
Фильм және анимация
I love a cool girl wave - I long for Kate Moss hair but ,short of kidnapping Sam McKnight, the closest I am going to get is a wave wand. So which should you buy? GHD for £120 vs Babyliss for £40 - which is the best? I put them to the test and weigh up the pros and cons of each cool girl oval wave wand.
GHD Curve Classic Wave costs more, but is more substantially made and feels heavier and weightier. It heats up more quickly and has one temperature which is 185 Degrees C. It makes a cool noise when it is turned on and off and beeps when it is ready to use. It also comes with a cool flat pad and carry case. www.ghdhair.com/wands/ghd-cur...
Babyliss Big Wave Wand £40, is the same shape but with four heat settings. It takes longer to heat up but it has a longer barrel which makes it better for longer hair.It comes with a heat proof glove (that works on left and right hands) and a small flat heat protect pad that to be honest is not great. No carry case.
Both essential have shut off switches if left on and not used.

I had my late beloved Babyliss hair dryer for 17 years! I loved that dryer.
love it! absolutely beautiful and Happy anniversary blessings always
I cant wait to try these types of stylers- great video thanks!
I cannot get enough of you channel.
I always use a glove when curling my hair, I find it really useful x
Haha 😂 I loved the honesty.. I still have the first blue babyliss straighteners with the comb attachment!.. yet I’ve had 9+ funerals for ghds .. and that’s after having them fixed in between!
I love H2d straighteners, you get them on amazon and they are fantastic! I've just picked up the babyliss one for £25 in tesco!! I like the tip of how you can still get a curl as well as a wave and I've got loads of hair but will probably do it in about 8 sections each side. I remember crystal tips well 😂😂😂Thanks beautiful xxx
I couldn't help but notice you used a slightly different technique between the two sides. Babylis side you held it underhand and ghd side you held top to bottom with arm over your head. In my curling experience (ha ha) that can make a big difference.

I think you're right - I am not that ambidextrous am I? X
GHD looks the absolute best!
Hi Nadine! I really do prefer the GHD side with the Real Housewives curls 😝👍. Maybe because I'm American? I just love the fuller more defined curl. Super feminine and less undone looking. Love your videos ❤️ xoxo Deborah 😘
Thank you for reviewing these. Do you have an updated skin care routine? Your skin looks amazing
I have the older babyliss waver it's same as this new one just a wee bit slimmer it works really well and does nice waves.
After your review I asked for the ghd for Xmas. I love it 🙏 have very thick long hair and it makes it look like I haven’t tried too hard xx
Love the look of the Babyliss wand ... big fan of the original round version but this one gives your curls such a lovely shape. X
I like the GHD side with the curls pulled a little straighter. 😊
Love the look & I preferred the Babyliss side! It seemed a little easier to use maybe because of the extra length.( The Crystal Tips & Alistair comment made me chuckle, same era!! )
I personally like the GHD one more. It just looks more stylish 😻
Thank you forvthe review... GHD every day pref! Could you do a vid on heatstyling products?😘
I used to get the crystaltips effect with the old fashioned 80s crimpers, remember them! X
I love Babyliss, I have the diamond wave wand it has the groove on the wand, love it!! Perfect beach waves. Will defo give this a try x
Love Babyliss! However, there is something about GHD, that makes the hair hold for days. It is expensive, yes, but oh so good!

Agreed. My hairstylist used a ghd and so I bought one and I love it. And honestly, I think her ghd side looked better.
You have the finest hair! Must be super easy to style.
I really love your video Nadine, and the way you are as a person :) All the best Marlen fron Oslo Norway
To me, the result with the GHD one looks much much better than the waves the BabyLiss one made. And I had this experience with various cheap tools as well. I would always go with the more expensive tools when possible.
Nadine, my hair is finer than yours, and my amateurly styled waves fall out overnight ... what do you recommend to give a better longevity? For me, the Babyliss side makes economic sense!
Glamoriser did/do the same 'oval' wand. Bought it last year £23 - Argos, Tesco etc. Obv can't use it now with pixie cut but does the same effect with a decent smooth coated wand & temperature control. Also came with a glove. 😂
Such a great review, ty so much for it. What's that nail colour, it's absolutely stunning on your nails.? Xoxo
I have crystal tips hair at the moment living in Houston with 38 degree weather and 97% humidity 😱
Love the GHD look.
I am one of those klutzes with a curling iron (you call it a tong) that needs the glove. If Dyson comes out with a hot air brush I would pay any amount of money for it, so hope the rumor is true and I await your review.
Your vids are terrific, so helpful , terrific teacher, so natural x
I love BabyLiss products; their hairdryers are powerful, and last a long time without being too expensive. As for these wands, I prefer the BabyLiss wand on your hair... it has a less perfect wave and doesn't seem as if you're trying too hard. It's more carefree/cool. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Can you test the Tyme iron, I find its really but and miss getting a curl.
I have a babyliss curler I love it but the buttons drive me nuts, when I hold it I switch it off as its where your hand rests

Not available in Canada I see. Pity. ( new Babyliss products often aren't)
I have the original babyliss waving wand, it's a smaller barrel than the big wave wand. I prefer it over the conical wand hands down, but I think I'll buy the big wave wand too because I'd like my waves bigger and looser!
I’m off to go and get the BaByliss one today 😍 £26 in boots x
I'm that girl with ridiculously thick straight hair that hates holding curls, and currently has three scars from a wand despite wearing my Michael Jackson glove. I hate hair gadgets but the dyson brushes sound good!
I’ve got to say I’m not a massive fan of GHD anymore, i bought the loose curl tongs and they were awful. And the platinum straighteners which were £160 and they broke after 8 months. However before that I had the classic GHDs which I had for over 10 years and the wires started to wear out. I just don’t think the quality is good anymore, back then £100+ on GHD was a good investment
Wonder how these would be for slightly shorter hair?
The things you say? You're amazing!
I use a glove. I don't have long or artificial fingernails, just very short, neatly manicured, natural nails.. I think therein lies the difference - the nails would allow you to hold the end of your hair very near to the styler without burning yourself.
I just got ghd curve and I don't know if I'm just an idiot or Its cos I have v fine hair but it's not doing those waves that I see people have and I want. Plz help people
I love the shape of your nails. I have difficulty describing the shape I want my nails to be when I go to a new manicurist. What would you describe the shape of your nails to be! Love the review today as well. Thank you!

She might benefit from some layering in her hair.....it sound's like the weight of her hair is causing the curl/wave to drop out too soon. Maybe invest in some good styling products too.

I have thick hair and what you need to do is use a curling shampoo before hand then use a heat spray to protect the hair. After you’ve curled it, spray it with a curling hair spray, I use one by Treseme and it holds them for ages
What a spazzy way of doing it
My current favorite styling tool is my stylist. LOL! My hair is so long and thick that I can't do it myself. Fortunately, it's very wavy, so if I'm too busy or she's out of town, I can wash it, throw my favorite Lanza and Moroccan Oil treatments in it and let it air dry. I use about 6-7 pumps of the Moroccan Oil plus 6-7 pumps of the Lanza Healing Oil after it's dry and I'm good. Thank you for the review! I always think I'm going to start using hot tools again, but once I buy them, on the shelf they sit. Have a fantastic week! 🌸
The GHD Side looks better than the Babyliss Side.
I don’t own either curling wand but it’s he GHD wand side looks so much better.

Hi Nadine, how long did the wave last? I too love Babyliss products - great value for money. I'd prefer to have a few curl options to hand and you can get 3 different wands for the price of the GHD. Love my Babyliss tapered spiral wand because the curl lasts for ages but yes, when it's fresh it is a bit Crystal tips! 😂 Total bicep envy btw 💪🏽 wow 😘

Minoo Verdi Does it damage your hair more, than the conventional flat iron?
@minooverdi5459

ZJ ZJ no it actually somehow treats your hair (everytime) as if you had a salon type treatment to your hair. It feels silky smooth and shines. I am gobsmaked. I went from blonde to dark brown and hated the state of my hair. Changed my life - Oh it is cheaper than Ebay at an online retailer called "Look Fantastic"

I've got the Steampod too and it's definitely kinder to your hair, but I struggle to curl my hair with it.....it's quite "cumbersum" to use, but as a straightner, is much better for you :)
Wow you look like a young Jessica Lange 💖
I think the ghd side definitely looks better.
cool 💞
you have lovely hair id swap you mine is way thinner :( x

GHD side definitely looks better.
I have curly hair so flat irons, curling wands and such don't get much use from me so for me I would go with the lesser expensive option. It would last me forever since I wouldn't use it too often and because of that I can't justify the higher price point. Rather save my money for something else.
The babyliss side looks scraggily, ghd all the way....looks nicer, neater, casual & smarter (& the curl stays in/lasts!) The babyliss side would look like i've walked along the sea front in 80 mile an hour winds, got caught in rain & then let it dry naturally....in other words my 'straight outa bed look' 😂 Not for me! Thanks for sharing, you look gorgeous & seem lovely 😊 Hope you had a good eve with your bf 🖒
The ghd section looks much better, but maybe you used diffrent methods... Mhmm, don't know what to get now

Who cares what it looks like? And the fact that the BaByliss is lighter would be a bonus. I always wonder if these reviews are genuine.
You said you wouldnt use a heat protective spray? why is that? :)
@sebharvey4497
7 жыл бұрын
Rebecca Alice Byrne My guess is that the heat protecting cream she uses absorbs better into her hair and means that the product doesn't get stuck on the heated tool. When I use heat protective spray in my daughter's long hair I find it a problem with the tool. It generally feels much stickier on my hands too when handling her hair. More "crunchy" after styling too, if that makes sense?

I prefer a heat protection cream as they don't make my hair or my tongs sticky X
I think babyliss side looks edgier.
She really does love the extra length. 😉😉
GHD side better, but you were twisting the gadget round and round I think from memory whereas with the Babyliss you kept it still and wrapped the hair around it. Gosh, hope I'm making sense. I also prefer your hair like this and not dead straight ❤️

Ghd side is better 😊
Ladies, the BaByliss is £26 at Argos!
I think the God look a lot better
You're not doing it the opposite way you're curling towards your head and not away from it.
Babylis big wave wand £26 now in argos...bargain!!! thanks nadine
Carole is fuming that you said she wasn't cool.
She reminds me of Caitlyn Jenner lol
Babyliss side is a complete mess
I personally like the GHD one more. It just looks more stylish 😻
