    All these animal rights activists, how about for the suburban house owners who are tortured by irresponsible dog owners? They don’t seem to have any rights. Animal Control won’t help. Our problem has been going on for 8 years. I want to move but my wife doesn’t. I’m considering some crazy sh!t at this point. Anyone have any ideas how to get a little payback on them?

    My Battery Powered House Not really but I can follow directions. There’s another KZread video called Stop Dogs Barking for $20.00, the channel is “leonard muniak”. The guy builds an interesting multi-barrel sonic device, but only 3” and 4” tubes. From what I’ve been reading, the sonic devices might work, might not work, but we’re willing to try anything. What did you have in mind?

    Frank Crounse you may use your phone or an MP3 player. Download the dog whistle app or dog whistle MP3s available free online. Connect the phone or the MP3 player to a powered speaker and play the dog whistle in a loop. Chances are that if the speaker is set properly in a good position the animal would stop the barking.

    The Battery Powered House I feel your pain. I have neighbors just like that. Dogs barking for hours each day. I was considering buying a device that I.saw advertised about 10 years ago. It makes a noise that is beyond human hearing but audible to dogs and is triggered by the sound of the barking dog. Obviously it would be useless unless the dog was in a yard next door and the yards were small.

    If you set the knob to 10, will it start at 10 or at a lower frequency and take some time to get at 10? I just read a review complain about that: "When you start the unit it will start making sound at low frequency then climb up to the frequency you set it to. For example if you want to use it secretly without your neighbors knowing, when you power on the unit it will start at the lowest frequency which is around say 10,000 HZ, which everyone can hear, and take a few seconds to become silent at 25,000 HZ."

  • @backpackerthrulife8497
    @backpackerthrulife84974 жыл бұрын

    The pipe might resonate at one of those frequencies but I doubt if it has a narrower beam than a homemade conical "horn" (like the original speaker but with a cone shape). Also I wonder if there is an off-the-shelf ultrasonic power amplifier you could put on the output of that generator? Thanks for the ideas.

  • @maxhauler

    @maxhauler

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think this is a great project. The size/diameter, length and shape of the tube will have a dramatic effect on the sound it emits because of many effects. Another great project would be to take this idea further and evolve the shape of the 'cannon'. Perhaps a deep/narrow parabolic dish? The science of Wave Guides is well developed but that is for EMF. There are parallels for high frequency and there are specific physics involved in sound traveling through a tube. All of this would need to be considered to really optimize this. Inconsiderate neighbors with barking dogs can require exceptional steps to be dealt with but they must be dealt with. No one should be allowed to torture other people with a barking dog or anything else.

    Yes this is very cool, but that little bit of mesh will reflect/contain a very large percentage of the high frequency sound. Best to leave that off. Only low frequencies could pass through/past thin mesh, but high frequencies will reflect off almost anything, even thin mesh/screen.

    I can hear it up to when he said it was set to 3 & a half. It sounds like a mouse. It makes me wonder how a cat would react vs. a dog, considering. Instead of being annoyed, a cat might actually be curious (at first)… but I'm not sure. My cat lost much of her hearing in her old age. She lived past 20 years old, so in her final couple of years or so it was obvious her hearing was diminished somewhat. Anyway, I have this old electronic toy keyboard purchased probably in the early 90s, and one of the fun sound setting modes is called "insect". Whenever I'd crank up the volume on it, and play the keys in insect mode, my cat absolutely loved it. She would drop everything, and go to where I was playing immediately, and meow meow meow in delight :-) Not in annoyance… it was like it was pleasurable for her. Strange! I still have that old keyboard actually. Perhaps sometime I should try and record it, and see if it affects other cats or dogs too. However, I'm not sure if the frequency she enjoyed from it, was outside the range of human hearing, so perhaps a standard microphone won't capture that aspect anyway. Sure, I could hear it of course too, but it may have extended beyond the parts audible to me. I say this because it was the only sound setting on the keyboard that she reacted to in this peculiar way. Hmmm… come to think of it, when you play enough of the keys together while it's in insect mode, it seems to generate a bit of a reverberating purr like sound as the different tones cross each other, just that it's in a high frequency instead of a low one, unlike an actual cat's purr. In this video of the sound tests, I can't really hear anything once he sets it to 5 & a half or higher, but there is a lot of background noise (some kind of fan blowing?). Perhaps if it was done in silence, I might be able to pick up something, even when set to 5. Or at least find the cut-off point. In the on-line sound test I just tried, I can only sometimes hear the 15KHz setting, and definitely always the 14KHz. But I'm using some cheap headphones made in China, so perhaps they're already limited to 15KHz, which is actually likely with this set :-)

  • @pegpenguin

    @pegpenguin

    6 жыл бұрын

    With the volume up, strangely I can hear it "chirping" even at the 5 & a half level. It's like a high pitch pulse every half second or so, so maybe I'm only hearing it as it dips slightly in frequency (it's not a constant tone). So now I'm definitely sure I would be able to hear it if there was no background noise to interfere. At level 10 though, I don't seem to hear anything distinguishable.

    This is just a generator. You need an amplifier. The signal is too wimpy. The most wanted device today is a device that will cause aggressive dogs to flea. The postal system and all delivery companies would buy them immediately. If it were portable and reasonably priced (really worked), one would sell millions the first year offered. That is if the animal rights people didn't get it outlawed (which would probably happen). Today America values animals higher than people. Anyway, I've tried different systems and none worked. The dogs seemed to like the sound and/or totally ignored it. Probably this isn't the right approach.

    1. Usually, there are City Codes (laws) that prohibit dog barking. You should consult an attorney. It usually works, and you can get your money back from suing the neighbor (put a lien on his house, etc). Consult attorney. 2. You said you would "keep us updated": did it work? The Battery Powered House. I appreciate your work, if it work in a right way could be a good solution about to avoid the unbearable annoyances of owners/dogs barking. Sorry, but I have some questions to ask you, because apart from your kEMO #MO48N, 10…40KHz, there are others KEMO, like www.brocott.co.uk/ultrasonic-vermin-repeller-module-adjustable/ 22 KHz, or www.brocott.co.uk/ultrasonic-vermin-repeller-module-adjustable/ 8…40 KHz. So I think you chose your #MO48N for any reason, which was please. The user manual we see in your video say is feasible to connect 1 up to 5 piezo-loudspeakers, my question is if all these loudspeakers have to be connected in parallel or in series, and if the sound may lose intensity and quality with all these loudspeakers connected together?. The user manual also says you can use a commercial plug-in 12 V/DC (current supply) at 12 V/DC Thanks for your work and for share.

    He was just testing on his dogs ( which are not barkers ). There was a little dog in the beginning you could barely see that walked away after he turned up the frequency dial. He said the other dog was old with bad hearing so it wouldn't work on him. I think most old, worn out dogs with bad hearing won't bark much. If you are dealing with one that does... you are screwed. I like the theory. I bought those little ultrasonic bark control deals store.petsafe.net/outdoor-bark-control and they definitely have an effect, but you can't control volume or frequency so pesky dogs seem to mostly ignore after a while. I am going to build a monster machine. I don't want to hurt these dogs ... just get them to shut up !

    Barking is a nuisance but it's not the dog, it's the owner not minding him and taking care of it. If a dog barks constantly there is something wrong. Don't hurt the animal or torture it with terrible sounds that go on constantly as a way to stop it from barking. The owner is no the one being affected, but the dog is and it's torture. These sounds are designed to train / correct behavior but to run it constantly, that would be cruel. Don't give sedatives to the dog. If you kill it, it's on you, not the irresponsible owner. Call the county and file a complaint. Better for the dog to be in a shelter than be left alone with minimal to no contact.

    I have to disagree with you. I have 3 dogs, 2 of which are great. The other one though is dumb as a bag of hammers. She will bark nonstop when outside. I've tried everything. A shock collar shuts her up for a few min at a time. I only leave her outside long to use the bathroom. I don't want to be one of the people that are being talked on here. I searched this video because I have a neighbor that got a new dog a few months back and they leave it outside permanently. It barks nonstop all day and all night. I don't understand how it's not just as annoying to them as it is me.
