It’s not very reliable in closing the boot and windows at the end, sometimes it failed. I wouldn’t walk away from mine!

It can project ‘Tesla’ on the wall because the lights are matrix-LED’s. (It was an update with the 2021 model)

Jack, I think it works because they can turn on/ off individual pixels(?) within the 'matrix LEDs' - Say the Matrix has 100 pixels in a grid formation, they just enable a pattern that shows the letters TESLA - In theory, if someone figures it out, you could put anything (not just letters) - Although id imagine the resolution wont be great with anything too complex. Im surprised you havent used the software to make your own tbh - Although I guess thats an opportunity for another video :P

I think it's around 205(?) individual pixels in a grid, but other than that you're entirely correct! Only the M3s from Shanghai have the dot-matrix bulb though. It's used for the headlights & high beams (but I may be wrong). Tesla's profile for making the light show doesn't include those lights but I'm sure someone on the internet will hack something together.

Bad Apple on tesla?

Story Time: In the 70s I had a car with a "flash to pass" feature, pull back gently on the turn signal lever and the high beams flashed (to let someone know you were about to pass them). I had installed fog lights the proper way, with a relay to turn them off when using the brights. So, I could turn on the four-way flashers, turn on the fog lights, tap the flash-to-pass lever, tap the brakes and, I had a light show! Flashers, fog lights, brights, tapping the brake lights in time, all flashing on and off to music. I was the only one impressed by this, everyone else looked at me like I was a nut (I was). Ha! I was just 50 years ahead of my time ya bastards! 😃

I never get tired of this show! Jack and Becky did a great job of capturing everything. As always, Jack’s enthusiasm is contagious.

I'd love to see someone get like 10 Teslas and then play this in sync on all of them at the same time

Best thing is you can customise this using the usb pen. Loads of shows already to download for you to play with.

The amount of effort Tesla put in their car is crazy

Never have I ever seen someone so excited about a car window opening and closing

The fact each light is controlled individaully is very cool, but 20 years down the line when these cars develop electrical gremlins on the second hand market, they're going to be a right pain to fix...... I do love how tesla put these features in. They are one of a kind that company.

The rainbow on the charger port reminds me of Jack’s old video of him trying to do the rainbow charging thing

I remember seeing the model X light show at a mall years ago, it was just a showcase that was on all day long

Jack I have the model 3 too and got to see this for the first time at GigaBerlin, it’s the matrix LEDs themselves projecting the word Tesla as they are ridiculously accurate, I expect more functionality to be released over time to make use of the matrix lights.
