@@YaleAppliance1 LOL either way, I've learned a lot from watching your videos in the background. I'm buying my first house soon and preparing to have to buy some appliances. If we end up going for new appliances, one washer dryer set that caught my eye is LG WT8400CW. If you wouldn't mind giving me the run down of this set I would greatly appreciate it!

The new appliances from Samsung will be interesting to keep an eye on, as from their recent fridge offering, they're putting a focus on improving reliability which has been a sore point for the brand. Running about 30 loads before I release my video on this. The wash/dry times I've seen so far mirror yours. I still have my LG 2 in 1 literally beside it, so it'll be interesting to see how they differ on identical loads and times. Great intro video, by the way. What interests me most on this is if/how Condenser Care works. I've caught the machine running it a few times like the DLHC5502, which is good, but the filter pattern will tell the tale once its ran a ton of times. Its interesting, but man... 3hr wash/dry times are rough given the size profile is way closer to the GE than the LG.

What I didn't like about this machine when I checked it out was that it does not have a dispenser drawer for detergent or fabric softener it does have one for bleach next to the filter. So if you don't want to use the automatic dispensers on the bottom, you have to use a pod for detergent, i guess put in a dryer sheet at start of dry cycle.

@@petermaz701 The thinking is: why in the world would anyone want to put detergent up top when you can fill up the bottom, have the machine use the exact right amount every single wash, and forget about it until the app tells you to add more 47 loads later A secondary fill point for up top would be absolute wasted space for 99.99999% of people. I can't imagine a single scenario where I'd want to use this feature. Your comment reminded me of my dad when they removed key inserts on the passenger exterior for virtually all vehicles. Nobody used it once remotes/keyless became a thing. What use-case do you need a detergent drawer up top that the bottom reservior wouldn't already address?

Every video I watched people focus on warranty and service. How many washing machines have warranty claims in the first year? After first year? Cause after 3 years chances for all of them are equal with equal chances to be out of warranty. I haven't seen anyone's video on the quality of the washer. Or more importantly - dryer. Does lot cause lint on your clothes? Does it shrink or other way damage them? You also haven't touched question of the mobile app, both for LG and Samsung. From other videos I see you can actually download new regimes for washing/drying and update firmware/software. Looking foward for timed drying tests and it would be great if you also cover new Samsung Tower, to see how it is compared to LG

1st comment!.... Thanks for another good video on this topic of combo and heat pump W/D's. Is it just me, or is the door opening on the Samsung smaller diameter than the LG WashCombo and GE Ultrafast? I'm not a fan of the all-touchscreen UI. It's the Tesla-fication of laundry UI's. A dial and some buttons are useful and easier, IMO. Of the combo units, it seems like LG is best, but LG seems to be the only brand offering better heat pump options by way of the WashTower w/heat pump dryer and now a separate LG heat pump dryer unit that's stackable, both of which are much larger capacity and have better lint filtering mechanisms. Seems to me the fundamental problem with all the combo units is simple: Even a very large capacity washer is a relatively small capacity dryer. And laundry needs more room to dry than to wash. If you stuff any size washer full, whether it be 2.3cf or 5.3cf, a dryer of the same CF will be too small to effectively dry its contents, especially bulky items like bedding, without the ability to tumble it around in a larger dryer tub.

A lot of concern has been expressed about lint buildup, but both the Samsung and LG have an automatic condenser rinse. I tested this on the Samsung and noted that this rinse sprayed plenty of water on the filter. This should also help prohibit the lint from escaping because the initial lint of a cycle sort of "bakes" as the water dries, forming a sort of shield. Meanwhile I've only had my unit 3 weeks so time will tell, but so far the condenser fins by the filter are spotless. It's worth noting that GE does not have the self-wash

@@djftremblay5895 I think it all depends on how religious you are about cleaning the double lint trap. @yaleappliance1 I saw your three-way comparison where the lint was found in the Samsung machine. Based on the picture it looks like it was more an accident during the filter cleaning, a swath of lint being on the wrong side of the filter when it was reinserted. I use a hand vac on mine and regularly inspect the blue fins (I thought it was the condenser but your review said it was a heatsink...) for lint All the time and have found absolutely nothing. On the other hand I think it's fair to say that given the relative complexity of the filter trap that this sort of thing can easily happen.

@@YaleAppliance1 LCD screen quality varies greatly across different appliances. The issue with the Samsung Combo is poor responsiveness, probably due to an underpowered processor. This is a glaring issue on several reviews already available on KZread and would have been worth a mention on yours. There are good reasons why many consumers have started pushing back on all-touchscreen controls. I enjoyed your recent comparison of the GE, LG and Samsung combo appliances, and look forward to the detailed breakdowns you promised further down the track.
