The 8BitDo Pro 2 Controller is an amazingly delicious retro-styled video game controller. At $50, it was also reasonably priced. While I had some fun with my SteelSeries Nimbus+ controller, it was starting to breakdown on me.
While searching for a new controller, the 8BitDo Pro 2 controller was spotted. It seemed like a great alternative to the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, as the 8BitDo Pro 2 was cheaper and it had a mode switch to support more gaming systems.
However, in the “Customer questions & answers” section (in listing on Amazon) there was a great question - “Will this work with Apple TV?” I was wondering the same question. However, a seemingly very official reply was not looking good. It said, “No, it can not work with Apple TV”.
Yet, since the Apple TV (thanks to tvOS 16) supports Switch Controllers, perhaps this was just old information. I decided to get the 8BitDo Pro 2 controller anyway.
It seemed like it should work. Also, I liked the design of the Pro 2 Controller. It's very good! A full review of the controller is for another Photics.TV video. This video is about testing the 8BitDo Pro 2 controller with the 2021 Apple TV and the 2017 Apple TV.
