Testing Out Waves NX For The First Time
I know I'm late to the party, but when I got an opportunity for testing out Waves NX for the first time, I couldn't resist. And why not test them all out to see which Waves NX virtual studio is the best? Waves recently added 270 new headphone correction profiles, so it was a good time to revisit this plugin that debuted a few years ago.

I have used the CLA Nx Stereo for a couple of years on my Sennheiser HD 400 Pro and love it! :)

Hi Daniel, I really enjoyed your review of these plugins. I own all of them. I've found that my favorites so far are the CLA NX and Germano Studios. You really know your stuff!! The song you mixed also sounds awesome. I continue to learn from you.

Nice video! I also prefer the CLA NX. I do wish you could turn on/off the sub with the NS10s. Also, I always like the ambience control turned all the way down.
I love NX! Since I use mostly my headphones for mixing, it's a great way to test my mixes, or even mix entirely using it. CLA NX is my favorite! The new update with all the different headphones EQ curves is massive. I've been waiting for it for a while.

Hi! Have you tried the Slate VSX system? I have Waves NX + CLA + ARS3 and OW Nashville and am happy with the results however I thought I'd try out the VSX Platinum system and frankly for £500.00 I'm not impressed when compared to the NX rooms using Sennheiser HD650 and/or cheap gaming cans. Do you have any thoughts?

If you find something that works and makes your life easier, stick with it 😀 I'm not a huge fan of Slate Digital marketing tbh and I've been using Waves since the beginning, so I may be biased. I've only used Slate Trigger 2 and it's great for drum replacement. I feel there's something to be said, though, for developing yourself using only what you have access to, be that stock or 3rd party plugins. If you've got a good thing going on, why change?
Have you tried Sienna rooms by Acustica? It has a free version too. I also really like Canopener, it's very transparant, just stereo bleed, no room sim.

I grabbed NX as a way to test out the EQ correction for my Sony 7506 cans. On one hand, I absolutely hate working on headphones but figured it time to join the rest of the world or at least have the option to reference them as an option. One feature that really irritates me is the head tracking. Why is that necessary? It drive me nuts having it on so I'm thankful to be able to turn it off. What is the actual benefit to head tracking? It seems to me it's just a technical gimmick that ultimately does nothing to help or speed up any task. What am I missing?

It's simulating the environment as realistically as possible, so that if you want to feel like you're in a real room without headphones, you can experience that feeling 100%. Put NX on a reverb or delay and add some movement using your own head, pretty cool.
I tried the cla nx one. Works great for mixing on headphones but it seems to take a toll on my CPU which gives me time outs.

Yeah, audio system specs can be a delicate balancing act to get right if you're on a PC especially. Throw in the need to update drivers and software regularly and you're bound to get issues at some point. I'm using an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X which handles large sessions pretty well, but occasionally I find the limit with certain plugins.

@@SPLMixing i’m on my dying 2015 macbook pro haha. When i do large sessions i have to bounce or freeze a some tracks and even then i still get time outs every now and then. Probably because of plugins like these
can't find my headsett on the. Sennheiser hd 400 pro and Sennheiser 200. and Sennheiser 280 pro

The Waves website says Sennheiser HD 280 pro is supported. I also use them in the video. Have you updated the plugin to the latest version?

Use the headphone drop down menu and click legacy, you should see the 280 pros there, not sure about the others.
