Yeah. My Index arrives this week. I should have avoided watching this and just played it myself, or at least found a youtube impression of it that had a bit of energy. I really didn't want to gripe about Sam since he's still a cool dude, but since everyone else is already saying it, he's really been dragging through things and making games feel like an unwanted chore lately. I don't want fake and hyper bombastic Pewdie Pie crap or anything, but at least put a bit of heart into it. Between his recent family developments and more serious film work schedule, I know he's got other bigger priorities on his mind, but if he's not feeling it on a given day, I'd much rather he just chills out in the background giving casual commentary or fun remarks instead. That'd be fine.

Speaking of Halo Reach another game with a similar ending is Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core. In that game you play as Zach (a way better character than Cloud) and at end of it you fight THE fight against an endless stream of enemies. And just like with Halo historically you cannot win so you just hold on for as long as you can while trying to keep Zach alive. Not gonna lie, I teared up on that fight because Zach is such a good character and I had become very attached to playing as him.

Now Valve have this hi-fidelity VR setup that can sense individual finger movement. Here's an idea, what if they combined the two and you have to learn actual sign language to communicate with that character?

Ok, the finger tracking stuff is interesting, but is maybe getting a liiiittle bit more credit than it deserves. It looks like the technology detects if your fingers are extended or closed, and then blends between different additive poses for each finger in the game, but that's the limitation. That's all it can do. That's why you don't see in-between states, or finger spread, or finer acute poses like pinching, or pressing. It's definitely a step in the right direction but not yet nailing it.

It'll be cool to see people communicating through sign language in games like VRChat. Heck! Maybe just a game that'll teach you how to sign would be cool! :D

Thatd be cool but youd need exact finger tracking bc you wouldnt be able to sign many things, the letters E,P,K,O and obviously a ton of signs wouldnt be possible with just the knuckles/vive index controllers(ive been used to it being called knuckles for the last three years lmao)

I like the idea of using these controllers for flight simulators. to be able to turn dials and flip switches and then get the feeling of getting a grip on the yoke because you have something to wrap your hands around from an open hand position.

There's actually a robot that plays RPS perfectly. It watches your movements and figures out what you're going to throw. It's a few years old by now.

1:02 all this was possible years before with touch controllers. Yeah I get you can use more then point finger and thumb finger now with valve controllers but pointy and thumb finger are the most common used for nonverbal communication

Destin from Smarterevery day tested a VR glove with haptic feedback, pressure and tension triggers. Looked awesome, buy it was extremely bulky. In short you would feel items you picked up in game.

Rift for small space at home and for decent tracking. Vive is for large room and flawless tracking. Games work for all VR kits (have to use revive for oculus games with WMR or steamvr hardware)
