I was listening to advice from 103 year old and her tips for a long life was "don't stress the small stuff" and "eat two prunes every morning". The prunes keep your digestion regular.

My 102 year old great uncle told me the secret to a long life is to eat good food...but he didn't specifiy whether he meant good as in healthy or good as in delicious 😅 so I try to maintain a nice balance of both.

I’m over 40 and decided a very long time ago to wear what I want. Tweed skirt suit for office? Yes please! Boho dresses just because? Well obviously? Most of October looking 90s goth? You know it! Wear your makeup, hair and clothes in ways that make you happy!

Yes! I do "gothtober" to make sure all my lovely goth bits get a day out and aren't just languishing in my wardrobe.
Katie you are 1000% correct. And I wanna add that fashion trends generally only make people feel inferior and make them buy things they don't want and don't need. The secret is to embrace what you like, and what looks good on you as an individual. Forget what colors are 'in', and find what colors bring out the best in you. Same goes for fashion. Embrace what you got. Celebrate it. How boring would the world be if we all looked the same?

💯💯💯 I appreciate the circulation of trends ONLY for the visibility aspect. I couldn't find things in my style until it came back in fashion. Now I'm even starting to make my own things cuz I finally know what I like!

An actual dream boat.
As a stay at home mom in my mid/late twenties (I'm still in denial about being 27) I've realized being comfortable is so much more important than being trendy. I buy all my clothes thrifted, and try to stay away from polyester because it's regularly 95 degrees here in Alabama, so not a lot of modern fashion is available for me to wear. I've never felt so confident as when I finally decided to dress for myself, to wear dresses or tie-dyed shirts every day!

Last year I got a few linen skirts, a few denim skirts, and a few wool leggings, and some linen dresses. That's my wardrobe, along with the shirts and blouses I already owned. No more pants, and when it's cold, I just layer leggings under my skirts! Linen and denim last forever, breathe like a dream, and allow airflow during these stuffy southern summers. Highly recommend investing in some natural fibers and basic items, and ignoring trends 😂😊

As a fellow Alabamian having a job that lets me wear leggings and t-shirts everyday is the best thing ever. And the decision to stop buying or wearing jeans is probably the best one I've ever made.
Something about the words “sea glass”…🤩🤩🤩
There are 3 “pendulums” of fashion: Early adopters, standard adopters, and late adopters. Trend cycling has sped up SO MUCH that the pendulums are starting to intensely overlap. To the point that, really, just about everyone is “in style” and people can wear (and find!) whatever type and style of clothing they want. The soap is GORGEOUS
The esthetic gives "sand frame" vibes. You know those sand frames that are a layered- like scenery? You can flip them, and the sand falls slowly to form another scenery... so relaxing 😌. That's the vibe I get from this soap😊, not to mention that the teal, seafoam, and aqua family is my fave ❤❤❤

Omg I forgot about those! Dreamy!
Thanks for being you. I'm old, well sorta, I'm 52 and watch and buy your soaps. I guess I got to 50 and realized I don't care what everyone is wearing anymore, I realized I wanted to be me and express me. I think that is the case for a lot of women. I feel like we are not taught to express ourselves very well and are taught to conform, I say no more be free be you be whatever and I for one love your channel. I did want to say I found out your sad news way after the fact, and yes I was one guessing and waiting for you to share, im so sorry you went thru what you did this spring. I said a little prayer for you and your family. Let it go to God, he will take care of you.❤
Fig Newtons are so yummy and my absolute fave! Would definitely prefer over regular cookies! There was a rouge fig tree in our yard growing up in the south, so plenty of jam and fresh figs. My grandmother would give me Fig Newtons whenever the tree was bearing any fruit and they are still a simple joy for me.
I live in Washington state and we have a beach with sea glass I have pounds of it after collecting for a few years and inheritaning a collection after a family member passed. I would love to send some to you 😊
People don't drink prune juice because they like it... they drink it because they need to poop, and using the juice helps with keeping your fluids up, rather than just eating a couple prunes. Aside from that, absolutely LOVE that soap. It makes me wish I could afford to buy one, but that is not happening right now.
Those weird jello salads or “ambrosia” salads. Basically anything with a Mayo/cool whip combo mix as a base
That swirl of minimal colours is amazing. Love it.
I discovered last year that I really like wearing cottagecore so I got into sewing my own clothes and I stopped caring what is currently in fashion because I have made my own clothes and I'm going to get use out of them because I put so much time into making them. It's definitely a nice feeling to just wear what I like to no matter what other people like to wear.
First of all, I LOVE the color of seaglass and I am gonna be ordering. Also since you mentioned the financial videos on youtube being something you enjoy, I wanted to share what I enjoy. MatPat's Style Theory. They're currently doing episodes about how clean soap will get you, the antibacterial properties of it vs surface stains/grime, but they also cover current fashion trends (like the "what season are you and what colors should you wear" that went viral on fashion tiktok). It's fun to watch

My niece is 4 and is obsessed with peppermints. My grandparents had some when we were staying with them at the cabin and she asked if she could have some and the rest is history 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm 43 and worked in retail (🤮) since I graduated high school. I now have worked in an office job since 2020 and when I started, I begrudgingly wore the office attire of slacks. I hate dresses/skirts so slacks it was. But about a year into working there, my boss decided we could extend casual Friday to every day (but keep it nice, no holes, rips, etc.) I couldn't be happier to have my jeans back. 😆
26 going on 27, I feel so lucky that I have never cared about what’s trendy, my mom used to tell me I walk to the beat of my own drum. I feel best when I’m wearing clothes I deem cute, mostly a lot of Disney stuff, it’s just what I like. Oh my god, the peppermints! My great grandma takes two peppermints from the Chinese restaurant we go to every week 😂
This is already an incredible concept You get your hands clean and smelling like the beach and then when the soap is gone, cool rock!
This sure took a lot of effort to pour and it shows. It is one of the prettiest soaps I've ever seen 🤩🤩🤩 On the fashion segment- As a geriatric millennial, one thing I love about my age is finally having the courage to wear what I damn well please 😂
Hay katie, thanks to you i made my first ever bar of soap today, thank you for being such an inspiration and for being so kind and bubbly.
I'm twice your age, and I still don't understand fig newton love. And prunes - well, my mom liked them, but one dessert she used to make was prune whip. So weird, but like once a decade I get a craving for it and look up the recipe.

I don’t think I’m “old” but I’ve always loved peppermints. I especially started liking them when I had jobs where I talk a lot.
Personally I’m discovering myself a bit more and what I like to wear how I like to look. It has brought me through the trends to “fit in” or whatever. Now I’m just doing *me* and doing what makes me happy, it feels amazing 😆
They video was the first Caleb Hammer I watched and I've been hooked since. He gives such good information to his guests. The woman in that video has shown up as a special, er, guest in other videos I've seen on commentary channels.

NGL i wasn't expecting this to be a stone soap i figured it would have a clear melt & pour turquoise colored fake gem speaking of that gem GOOD GIRL with just marking the placement with a stick rather than try & place them through the grid
My great uncle used to offer a peppermint like it was the best treat lol so sweet.
I hope you have a wonderful day and rest of your week Katie and to everyone else here 💙
Growing up with my grandparents my grandfather would sit and do his puzzle every evening with his bag of peppermints! Now i do puzzles wirh my daughter and we always have our bag of peppermints 🤗
This soap is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. I live 20min from the ocean and this is perfect. I can practically smell it through the screen. Beautiful!!!!!
I have a young grandson who loves peppermint, I think of it as an old person taste, but maybe it will cycle back. I recently discovered wintergreen is an old person thing. So many young people don't even know what it is, but this old lady loves it.
I’ve been watching you for about six years now and this is my favourite soap you’ve ever made. I remember watching Brambleberry videos to help me fall asleep when I was 14 and my insomnia was really bad, until I found your channel and never looked back. I’m 20 now, and I still watch your videos at least twice a week to help me relax when I’m stressed. Thank you for everything you do and for always being such a lovely and honest person. I wish you and your business and your family all the luck and wonderful things in the world. Lots of love from Ireland!
I had to laugh when you brought up the new word your friend had to explain. I'm a food server at a high school. One of the ladies (48) said her daughter's (13) friend said she looked snatched when she was younger. My boss (56) laughed and said what did she say. I said snatched means you look good and tight in the right places. My boss said back in the day that word had a whole different meaning 😂😂 it was what they called a vagina 😂

Oh, if you don't like the Fig Newtons ( get it, not for everybody), they also make a Strawberry Newton. They used to do a raspberry variation, too, but I don't remember seeing it anymore. It was also terribly sweet. Like, hurt your teeth sweet.
I don’t know if you watch her already, but I think you’d love, love, love Bernadette Banner. She is a historian who specializes is historical fashion. It’s really very cool!. I
I love this soap. The color and pattern are amazing. I love stones and actually have amazonite on my wish list. Not sure if you know it but it's known as the Stone of Hope. Sounds perfect for this soap.

Gorgeous soap, definitely my ocean favourite
Ugh😩 these are so beautiful Katie!! How dare!
Those colours are absolutely gorgeous.
Beautiful soap! And as for the different styles, I loved a short video I saw somewhere, a lady was reacting to those tiktoks about millenials "if you still dress like this you NEED to change your style" and she said something that really spoke to me: so you're telling me I should throw away my clothes that are still functional and that I feel pretty wearing in order not to look like I belong to an age group that I actually belong to? And like, yeah. I find that changing fashion and each generation having it's staples really beautiful and fascinating. It's just clothes, they should be enjoyed and played with and used in a way that makes person wearing them feel good. Nothing more and nothing less :)
These colors are so dang soothing!
Ohhh, this is so lovely! I think this might actually be my favorite soap design from you. Helps that greens and teals are my favorite colors haha

Those colors are beyond pretty 😍
I've worked in healthcare for many years and we keep a bowl of peppermints in the CT control room. When you're talking to patients all day, hard candies help with dry mouth. Peppermint is the choice because we're often dealing with very sick patients as well as cancer patients who tend to be very sensitive to scents. Breathing Jolly Ranchers all over them isn't a great idea, but peppermint does indeed help with nausea. I'm Gen X (54) so I am 'old people' - the oldest person in my Radiology department. I think fresh figs, okra, and homemade sauerkraut are the things that seem to baffle my young co-workers the most. This time of year we're blessed by the bounty of our fruit trees and garden. Everyone's happy to take tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, peaches, pears, etc. but figs and okra? No way! They won't even try them, so I eat a lot of fresh figs and pickle a lot of okra in the summer. When it cools down and cabbage come into season, I make sauerkraut the way my mother taught me/her mother taught her/ her mother taught her....gong back for generations. But the entire concept of fermentation is just way too gross for my young co-workers! The things that my parents and grandparents loved that are nasty to me are fried chicken livers, banana/mayo sandwiches, and tall glasses of buttermilk with cornbread crumbled into them and eaten with a spoon.
Love the colors and the pour. Sopretty.
Prune juice keeps you regular (lost of older folks are on meds that slow their digestion- plus age slows it as well). Prune juice is an easy way get a gentle laxative effect in a quickly consumed glass. And peppermints- lots of folks have dry mouths. As we age, natural saliva production slows down. And again, many many many medications often used by folks in their golden years cause dry mouth. Peppermints stimulate saliva production and mask bad breath as well. My elderly relatives used to like butterscotch and lemon hard candies. Ooh and those strawberry candies wrapped to look like strawberries- those were the home of lots of my grands as well! I need that “The more you know banner” to fly across my screen now 😂
One of the prettiest I've seen. Love the presentation and the "sound" of the video seems somehow improved. Keep on soapin!
I’ve been watching your videos before bed since 2018, puts me right to sleep in a good way! Thanks Katie & team 😌💭🛌

BINGO!!! I work at an assisted living and the residents are obsessed with Bingo! You say the word and thays all theu can thi k about for the next hour!!
I wish you filmed it! Film them all! Lol 😆 my adhd makes me skip through some parts, nothing wrong on your side, but I wanna see them all being made! 🥰😍
My jaw dropped when you held up the final soap. Beautiful!
I realized pretty early that is matters more what suits your body and personality than what is 'in style' right now... Upside, my style is timeless and I can use my clothes until they wear out, downside, I can spend a lot of time looking for speciffic items, because no shops have that style in stock! (had a rough couple of years while skinny, low waisted jeans were all the rage😅) LOVE this soap - with the flat surface, so it looks like the ocean when it is completely becalmed. Do not understand why 'old people' get so excited about HOA's...
That's so pretty!!
This is my favorite soap you have ever made💚💙
Beautiful! ❤️❤️
I’m old at heart… and was raised by an older mom. I do a lot of things that only older people do… But I also teach 7th grade and yes, in 2023 we are still paying attention to trends and trying to be slightly relevant to our students.
Been watching you for almost ever but my most recent KZread hole I’ve fallen into is a Texan like you… DJ Just Jay of the afc podcast. It is, well, heartbreaking but he covers bad parents and the terrible choices they make leading to (often) horrific tragedy but also calling parents out on publicly humiliating their children. I struggle with major depression and often just get really down on myself about the kind of mom I am because there’s always better and this guy gets me focused on the growth I’ve had as a mother especially when I’m super down and feeling awful. Katie, my kids (13, 9, 3) watch your videos quite often and we love you! You’re an amazing human being! Hugs!
Amazing 🤩 collection and confidence
I love to watch Mr. Ballen and Sandi Brock. LOVE them!!!
You ask what we watch on KZread, and I watch making content! I love the creative process and learning by watching!
I love that drop pattern!
I definitely have my own style, but as far as accessories, bags, clothes trends (I don't care too much to do my makeup & hair), I try to embrace the ones that seem fun. Trends are silly, but fun!
Dressing up to go out. My folks do this and I'm just like...??? why? Who you gonna see? If I've got clean underwear and socks under my jeans, I'm good. However, I LOVE jello salads that have cool whip and/or cream cheese whipped into them with fruit, nuts, marshmallows, etc. I grew up with those, they make me so nostalgic.
Sooo very pretty!!
Black licorice; idk why old people like it. XD Also! The swirl of this pattern would work SO GOOD for a pastel goth look; you could use colors like lavender, minty green, pink, baby blue with like one or two layers of black; it'd be SO perfect!
