2:55 is why you should never touch the quartz envelope of a halogen capsule. When they've been used for a long time, the oily residue breaks down because of the intense heat and starts to eat away at the quartz. If the filament lasts long enough, the envelope can shatter causing damage to your headlight housing (especially if it's one of those terrible modern cars that insists on using plastic housing)

On these bulbs which is the same ones for my scion xb 2006, are the three terminals on it 1 ground and 2 positives or are they 2 grounds and 1 positive? Because both my headlights are not turning on and only the low beams wires on both connectors is not reading anything but I want to know if I'm supposed to be looking for ground or positive on the low beam wire? The other 2 wires I do get 12v but not on the low beam wire. High beams turn on by the way no problem.

the sequence of connection switch arm then relay , fuse, terminal connection to H4 bulb , there is 2 positive and 1 ground , most cases ground connected to car body, you say low beam work so ,, no problem in ground, you will need to take off one of terminal connection that connected to H4 bulb , then using wire and tester for 12 volt battery or any small 12 volt bulb connected it to wires then you will use it as a tester to define the positive wire responsible for high beam by holding the terminal turn connect wires of tester to connector any two terminals switch on low beam if u don't get light , try the other terminal switch on high beam. then now u know the ground wire and high beam wire cause tester doesn't give light when you switch high beam ,,. you will go tracing wires of ground and high beam till u go to fuse box or relay box according to your car design ,, you test from there is there power in relay or fuse box,,,you will find u need to replace wire of high beam if there is power in fuse box or relay box ,. its a bit tired and complicated , but just tell me what you find i will try to help you as i can . please check you terminal cable and tell me about wires colors you can see , i will check try to help

@@creativelife4453 it's a scion xb 2006 and my original problem was that with car off and headlight switch off, my headlights would stay on no matter what. I then bought and replaced this headlight switch lever and now my headlights turned off but my low beams do not work now only high beams. So the new lever worked to turn off my headlights but now my low beams don't work. I'm thinking i got a defective new lever?

@@paquesepas6696 i think not switch problem,, as i explained before the components of light circuit as following switch then relay then fuse then battery then light bulb , the relay is on / off switch work by electric switch , if got stuck ,,it will cause on for light , not the switch level
