Testing Composite-Cased .308 WINCHESTER

Ғылым және технология

Available now at www.tvammostore.com
Last week we invited some of our employees to “bring their rifles to work” to have some fun shooting our all-new composite-cased .308 WIN cartridges through an array of different weapons platforms. The result was a flawless display of the superior performance and benefits of composite-cased technology over brass.

Can yall do a video capturing the temperature from the barrels. It'd be super interesting to see if the polymer casings affect the heat of the barrel after sustained fire.

it does, it doesnt allow for heat transfer to the chamber, it is literally cool to touch after a belt of ammo, they made a video about it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKN2sdevZtSwfrg.html watch for 10 seconds at least. Brass doesn´t actually extract heat from the chamber, it superheats and transfers heat to chamber and then it gets extracted. So technically, comparing to muzzle loading or no cartridge shooting chambers it does take some heat out, but mostly the heat which is to be contained within the cartridge gets transferred out of it, since its a heat conductive material, a heat isolating material will prevent heat from entering the chamber at all, and chamber only serves the purpose of containing pressure not heat. The heat goes down the barrel instead of focusing in the chamber, like it does with heat conductive brass cartridges. Watch the video, literally COOL to touch.

@@Im_TheSaint he was talking about the barrel not the chamber. The barrel would still be hot.

So I've been to the website and seen the KZread videos and you need to give some technical details here. All you do is shoot it and say it's the best ever.

same, I've been wondering about the environmental consequences as well as to the facts when firing this type of ammo

I remember Eugene stoner said (smithsonian archive) that plastic case significantly are harder to make than brass. If the case to chamber fit is too loose it cracks, if case fit too tight its wont chamber in adverse condition. This explains the cost of $3 a round for me

Since it's a composite case, can weird internal channels be molded into the case to change the internal ballistics of a round? For example, Maybe make a same weight bullet subsonic or something by changing how the powder sits In the case.

Where is the .223 poly case now that the M4 is gonna be phased out by the Sig? Would definitely buy some poly .223.

$60 for a box of 20? Can these casings be reloaded? I'm trying to come up with a valid reason for such a high price for ammo that seems to be inferior to what we've been using.

In fact I've seen this type of ammo before. It doesn't seem to be anything new or desirable whatsoever.

For military, light weight ammo can be useful.

Military use, it’s not meant for reloading. Lightweight makes sense for logistics purposes. As production scale, prices will eventually go down. I don’t know if this will ever be as cheap as regular ammo, but regarding raw materials, polymer will always be cheaper than brass.

All I'm saying pros or cons. Just my opinion. I think you should make the cases a dark color just for the fact the only negative thing i thought while watching video was they are white looking like cheap plastic no other negatives here lol only my opinion but i think you would sell tons more. Cases seem awesome other than that

bet I can make more accurate ammo with a lee press, and cheaper too by reloading brass on a single stage press😂 Gunpowder, primer, and bullet is the same, just casing is different than a normal brass bullet. On my 38 special I've reloaded the same brass at least 30 times , I've lost count... and the brass still is shiny ✨️ after a tumble.

$70 per box of 20 .308 at Midway USA at the time of this comment. I'm not sure I see an advantage at that price for the general public consumer. This cartridge is certainly an advantage for the military due to the lighter weight of a loaded cartridge. It will benefit the troops in the field and also reduce the fuel it takes to get the ammunition to the troops. The empty cartridges aren't reloadable and have no monetary value once fired. The empty cartridges can be recycled through your local recycler.
