I don't understand why you keep saying the pole not working right I see it works great. I've been told by my kid's that a cheeper stuff will not work for bass⁉️ a little bit on the light side just use a net. Is funny when I get bigger fish then my kid's with baitcaster rods.😮

I just want to thank you - I just got into fishing after wanting to learn my whole life (I'm 53). I was always too scared to ask anyone (crazy, I know) so, I decided I'm just going to go and do it. Your channel was one of the first to show up doing a search. For someone with many years of experience showing someone like me, a never-have-done-it-guy, that inexpensive and very little gear is more than enough, gave me the confidence to head into walmart and buy some gear and start learning to fish! Once you get addicted it becomes really expensive, I am just warning you 😂 Especially bass fishing, there is so much deferent gear, baits, lures, rods and reels and eventually maybe even boats, motors, trolling motors, fish/ depth finders, all that stuff. And once you start you can never have enough stuff. It’s not that you necessarily need it, it’s that you want it LOL. Happy fishing and good luck hope you catch some big ones. It’s never too late to enjoy some good fishing!

Just make sure you pay attention to lure weight and whatnot, my way finder found its way into splitting in two because I had a berkley cullshad on it

I actually have two of those $9 combos (both over 2 years old) and have caught many fish on them (even stripers). Every fish, even bream, feels like a beast and they are just plain fun (and a bit humbling). Everyone should fish a little bit with inexpensive light gear like this just for the experience.

I've used the Zebco Slingshot for a year. It's basically the same, but at 10 bucks. It's not horrible for the price, great for fishing on the cheap.

I just bought that orange one. Trying to target more panfish since I’ve never really tried before. I had to change the line on it because of the tangling issue. That combo really ain’t bad though, not for the price.

I have 2 of the blue version. They work fine so far. Lots of bend on the rods for sure.

You don't have to spend an arm and a leg for a rod and reel combination, but definitely make sure that you have decent line on. Concerning baitcast reels though is that I would strongly recommend that you don't go cheap, unless they're on sale. Great video T. J.

I've used a slingshot pole for years not from 2005 but trout fishing and catfish nothing bigger than 24 inch and trout cutthroat and brown 12 inch or smaller just have fun fishing 🎣

I love using cheap rods and putting better reels on them and going catfishing. I have a 2.5’ zebco dock demon with a Penn pursuit4 4000 reel with 20lb mono on it.

I fished with an ugly stick for about 12 years. Even the cheap stuff will last if you take care of it and do routine maintenance. Recently I’ve bought some more expensive stuff. But you are right, you can catch fish on the cheap stuff if it’s all you can afford.

Have been using 2 of these poles, the blue ones. They are cheap, and work well. Never had one break yet and I’ve caught some fat carp on it, largemouth, small mouth, tilapia, catfish you name it. Biggest so far was probably between 5-6 pounds. For those who don’t know, carp are notorious for the fight they put up. They’ve bent the rod in half many many times on good runs, I’ve been snagged, etc. no issues other than the nut in the reel loosening and having to take the spool off to tighten it.

Man you know that made that fight that much more fun.

Do another “saltwater bait in freshwater” challenge with the H2O express hover shad softee or softee jr. decent enough looking soft body suspending bait and should be a fish catching machine in my VERY unprofessional option.

That Tiger 7’ Shakespeare combo is so 🔥‼️ I have caught my PB 29” California Halibut on it as well as any other species you can think of, only change is adding 20 lb braid… best combo for your $ ‼️$20 for rod , reel , and line (15 lb mono)

I have the spear, and it was alright, the handle for the reel broke on my first fish on it probably a 5 pounder it was a catfish. And the tip lost the rubber insert but Its been alright so far. I mean I would buy it again bit I would either change the handle or the reel instantly

@@jasonsoto6163 yes it can be fragile but I adjusted the drag and handle in advance already knowing this. Don’t get me wrong it’s no Phoenix Trifecta Lite with a Shamano reel but for $20 does the job. I used it for Carolina rigs, but mainly tossing the Lucky Craft jerk bait in the surf…because I take my older son and friends for fun I have 4 of em 🤣! The one that got dragged through the sand definitely broke but I was able to rebuild the reel.

For the money and freedom of not being too worried about busting your equipment the Tiger is hard to beat

The “Berkley Big Game Power Series” fishing rods. They are probably THE BEST AND MOST VALUABLE ROD for $25.00, they are made of fiberglass so they are GREAT for Flexibility and crankbait fishing. The Berkley Big Game Power Series rods are SO VERSATILE! They are 2 piece BUT they have an EXCELLENT uniform bend in the fiberglass rod material. The Berkley Big Game Power Series rod (spinning) was my very 1st fishing rod I got when I was 12 at Walmart (I’m over 30 now) and I caught my first “Big Fish” when I was 12 on it. I caught a 36 inch Tiger Musky right on the side of the dock at the bottom fishing with a lime green with black dots and a silver backing spoon lure. The Berkley Big Game Power Series fiberglass rod absorbed all of the stress and fight from the fish! It makes it really easy on your body because the fiberglass rod absorbs the fight so nicely. I have 2 Berkley Big Game Power Series rods and 1 of them I have had for about 12 years now. And it still catches big fish like the first day I got it. I am a BIG FAN of fiberglass rods. Because they last longer, due to their flexibility, reliability and durability. They have a little extra weight but I will take that over a snapped or broken rod just from “regular use.” My style of fishing is casting REAL hard from shore because I don’t have a boat. So I have to SLING my lures as far as I can, AND I NEED A ROD THAT IS FLEXIBLE TO DO THAT AND NOT SNAP. I CANNOT USE A ROD THAT IS BRITTLE, I NEED FLEXIBILITY IN A ROD TO DO THIS. And in the past I have snapped 3 rods because of my style of fishing. And they all snapped IN THE SAME SPOT… THE TIP! So I began asking”Why is that?” Then I did research and it all made COMPLETE sense and I had “The data to prove it.” Graphite is brittle, Fiberglass is flexible. And ALL 3 of my previous rods I snapped at the tip were made with… Graphite! And I would wonder why after they snapped I would look over at “Old and Faithful” (My Berkley Big Game Power Series rod) and wonder why that one does not snap when I load up the rod before a hard cast and SLING my lure out there… and it was because it was made of Fiberglass and I did alot of reading and Fiberglass is heavier but it is also MORE FLEXIBLE AND DURABLE BECAUSE OF THE FIBERGLASS MATERIAL. AND… FIBERGLASS HAS BEEN USED IN FISHING SINCE THE 1970’s! So there ya go! “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Clearly if Fiberglass rods have been in use since the 1970’s that means… IT WORKS… and for a good reason. And fiberglass gives you better feel and action when crankbait fishing and fiberglass rods will improve your hook up ratio because there is flex and bend in the rod and the fiberglass material when it bends from a fish will actually sink the hook in deeper due to the material and bend it has. September 2022 I caught a 41 inch Spotted Musky on a 7 foot (2 piece) Berkley Fusion Rod Combo (I swapped the reel and put a PENN Fierce III 5000 on the Berkley Fusion rod with 300 yards of 30lb Sufix 832 Advanced Superline with a light 12 inch Eagle Claw black steel leader). That Berkley Fusion Rod that I caught that 41 inch Spotted Musky on IS MADE OF FIBERGLASS. Has a great bend in that rod even for a 2 piece. Read my review on Berkley’s website in the Berkley Big Game Power Series rod section you’ll see the photos of that 41 inch Spotted Musky I caught. And I have some other nice size fish I caught. Another thing I like about the Berkley Fusion rod is that it has Aluminum Oxide Guide Inserts ALL THE WAY TO THE TIP. The only thing I don’t like about the Berkley Big Game Power Series rods are that they don’t have an Aluminum Oxide or Titanium Oxide Guide insert tip… it’s stainless steel which may cause slight line grooves from braid line over time. But other than that the Berkley Big Game Power Series rods are AN EXCELLENT VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY. The Berkley Fusion Rods are a great value for the money too!

I've got that same combo and my PB on it is a 6.84 pounder.

Are you fishing too close to mar a lago? Maybe the gold flecks on the bass are runoff from the drains there.

I personally think that those rods are decent I hooked a 3ft bonnet head shark and landed it in about 5mins
