Testing At Barstow (Our Overlanding Prelander Build)

We are finally testing at Barstow. Our Overlandinf prelander build is getting to the testing phase. Taking to Jeep off road in Barstow California is a great way to shake down the Jeep.
The ultimate Jeep Grand Wagoneer is finally in the testing phase. We build this Jeep for prerunning, 4x4, and Overlanding. In this video, we head to Barstow California for some of the nest whoop sections in southern California. Our Jeep Wagoneer is built with Dana 44 twin I beam suspension, ADS shocks, Long travel cantilever rear suspension and 35" Milestar Patagonia MTs. Going through the Jeep inch by inch shows you how it works and minor issues we need to fix.

    Thanks man! It's been pretty fun. We've always wanted one of these old wagoneers but we knew we didn't want to have the stock AMC 360. Don't forget this Jeep has a LS as well! Thank you for following along.

    A set of Cherokee Chief fender flares welded on would look awsome and help stiffen up the sheet metal where you trimmed the wheel openings

    You can beat on a TTB pretty good. I've had several Rangers over the years. A decent built TTB can go mudding, crawling and whatever no worries. Makes the Toyota Jeep Chevy guys blush. Currently building a 90 Bronco 300-6.

    Ive been collecting parts to build a 04 Dakota quad cab just like this as a daily driver that can do most anything pretty good. I’m going with 33 inch tires though and the 6.0 lq9 with the nv3500 five speed and hydroboost. Dana 44 Ttb up front with the 12 bolt truck rear. 3.73 rear gears. 12” of travel was the plan as well. Lock right in the rear with open diff up front. I’m in Hawaii and there isn’t too much rock crawling for me but I need a little of everything so... I’m really looking forward to doing this myself.

    This was fantastic! And it happened sooner than I thought it would. I’ve been looking forward to the “maiden voyage” and wasn’t disappointed at all. Considering everything involved so far in this build, everything went really well. Nothing BIG broke and you were able to drive away at the end, under your own power. That’s a BIG win!!

    Those LS swaps, I’ve done a few in the shop I used to work at. What was wrong with the tune? We ran into a few where the MAF sensor was to close to the throttle body and the MAF couldn’t calculate the air flow properly. Moved the MAF about 5inches away from the throttle body and well, problem solved:)

  • @AdventureEndeavor

    @AdventureEndeavor

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, they are fairly simple swaps. We actually got rid of the MAF on this truck. Fewer sensors the better IMO thanks for the input!

    How does it handle on pavement? I am trying to figure out what direction to go as far as front suspension and have had a ttb f150 in the past and while floaty, was fine. I just don’t want it to be twitchy on pavement.

    @@AdventureEndeavor thanks so much. My take away from that is if I make onroad stability a priority I could make it decent. I am an American who married an Australian woman and now live in Western Australia which is twice the size of Alaska. Sometimes a 1000 mile road trip is required before getting to the over landing section and if the rig is too tiresome to drive on road it’s not worth it.

    Wow, those will get the job done. Probably drop the prerunner speed down considerably. My daily is a lifted F350 CC Diesel with 3.73 gears. I do run a program on it and the torque I'm sure compensates. Keep the great content coming... Just binged on your Mexico videos and a few others. I've spent quite a bit of time in Baja Sur.
