Testing an 80m VXO trying to compare it with a VFO. The plan is to use one of them into a simple CW transceiver I want to build from scratch this summer. So far I like both just as much.

Classic is what I love the most. Indeed it works, way better than I was expecting. Love it. 73, YO6DXE

Good, but I'm not sure where you got the "80 kHz shift" from in the title?

I only noticed that now 🤦🏻‍♂️. That was not supposed to be kHz 😅. Thanks for this. 73, YO6DXE

Grab a ceramic filter. They make a 3520KHz and a 7000Khz. Sadly they no longer make the 7020KHz Mouser has 7020KHz and 7030KHz crystals

I have one for 7000kHz that I also want to test ( ceramic resonator ). The crystals I buy from roWaves as I know they order them from Mouser so it's easier for me to order from the boys instead 😁. I am really curious how well it works on 40m and 20m. 73, YO6DXE

@@dxexplorer with the resonator, I guess you could make a tuned amp frequency doubler to get onto 14MHz with it. Rowaves are local for you. Good to support local :-)

@MidlifeRenaissanceMan Yes.. I always prefer to support smaller businesses, local or not 😁. Not a bad idea at all about the frequency doubler. Is all new to me so is very fun because I have new stuff to play with and experiment 😅.

Old school is my nickname hahaha. I also love these simple analog circuits. I want to stat away from all this modern "digital" stuff. Old school feels more interesting and entertaining. Sometimes it gives you headaches until all goes well... but then it works like forever 😁. 73, YO6DXE. P.S. And it doesn't need constant firmware updates either 😅🤦🏻‍♂️.
