A very good check without resorting to high tech equipment use. Someone asked, if the cap was faulty, what would you see, well, with your meter on ohms, check between lead & metal case, there should be no leakage(reading on meter) if the dielectric has broken down, it will not show an incremental rise charging on ohms, & a negative reading on the volts measurement. Like the youmg lady said; make sure youve discharged it before doing the test demonstrated. Thank you for putting this on youtube. Good stuff

Perfect. Is it a dodgy modern Lucas though? Best off buying Distributor Doctor parts… dizzy caps, Rotor arms, HT leads and condensers imho

In my day Lucas was known as PRINCE of DARKNESS ! The English drank warm beer because they owned Lucas refrigerators !

What would we see if it wasn’t working?

I think you would see no volts go inside when on ohms. . . . But I haven't got a faulty one to play with 😔
