Testing 3 Props for the Best Top Speed! Tracker 1436 Jon Boat with 20hp Suzuki

Спорт

I head over to some canals down the street from my house to test out my tracker grizzly all weld 1436 Jon boat with my Suzuki 20hp and a new 12 pitch aluminum prop. So far I tested the 10pitch and 11pitch but have yet to get the results I wanted... This could be useful for anyone with a small engine including a 9.9hp & 15hp

Really like how the grab bar is setup on your boat. Did you build it yourself, or was it purchased from somewhere? Looking to install one on my 1436 as well and mount my depth finder to it

The grab bar was bought at a pool supply store. Standard aluminum 24” railing. Through bolted right to the middle seat. So far holding well

Have you thought about trying a perma trim cav plate. I have a similar boat and am thinking about trying that so I can run with the jackplate higher.

I haven’t thought about doing one but they seem interesting. I think I’m pretty happy with how the little boat performs

Enjoying the build. Where are you finding the props on sale? I’m running a 14/36 with 15hp Suzuki and looking to pitch up as well.

Amazon, I just have been buying cheap props nothing crazy and they are doing just fine. The 11p was $70 and the 12p was on sale for $45

I just bought a 15. What speed were you moving idling in gear? My Klamath 14 idles at 1.9, tops out at 22. Plenty fast enough, but I wish the speed off idle was lower.

I just bought a new 1648 grizzly tracker from bass pro and ordered a 30hp suzuki with electric start and power tilt/ trim white of course! And the best ive gotten so far is 27mph. Do u recommend i change my prop?

Up to you. If you like the way the boat runs then keep it. If you want to get a tachometer and fine tune with different props then go for it. I’m sure you can push out 30+ but 27 is plenty fast

Put a tach on it first before switching props.

I have the same boat. Tohotsu 20hp with 12 pitch goes 25mph. How are you getting 30? Is my motor to low?

Not sure, maybe it’s the jack plate. Test it with the motor on different trim levels

From the sound…….you are making enough rpm. That’s about as fast as you want to go in that boat. Trust me on that……The wind would get ya……..Over 35 and uiucatch a breeze your flipping. I would say you have it dialed in perfect.
