    Maybe, maybe not. I have 2 maxpeedingrods turbos that are around a year old. No smoke. Also have a godspeed turbo that's been running almost 2 years. If it matters I have -10an drain with as smooth as possible return lines on all 3. Also they come with oil restriction built into the maxpeedingrods oil inlet side, the godspeed didn't and I didn't install one.

    Homie spent $0 on a wastegate. Compressor surge is constant sound like from the video

  • @TheBigChad

    @TheBigChad

    Жыл бұрын

    @@justvincentf that’s turbo flutter. And it’s not from lack of wastegate. You literally HAVE to have a wastegate. You get flutter from the blowoff valve. Either the spring is too stiff or he doesn’t have a blowoff valve at all. Which is harmless. Unless you are making so much boost that it’s sending air back through the turbo it tries to spin the compressor wheel backwards. That’s the only time turbo surge, turbo flutter, compressor surge, whatever you wanna call it, it’s the only time it’s bad. But in this guys case it’s absolutely harmless. I actually prefer the sound of flutter over a blowoff valve

  • @justvincentf

    @justvincentf

    Жыл бұрын

    @@TheBigChad the entire reason that compressor surge happens is because the pressure differential can cause flow in the wrong direction if not mitigated, which can cause stresses in the axial thrust direction of the impellers, which aren't really (even though they can handle it) meant to loaded like that, even with thrust bearings. People run turbos without properly sized wastegates all the time just for this particular sound because "JDM lol"

    There’s a good write up and video online testing these turbos and basically they are pretty good just don’t push them too hard over stock limits. There coilovers are alright for the price but get the adjustable dampening ones and use them like stock ones. But yeah turbos are solid plus there’s not much to a turbo so they can be made pretty cheaply and efficiently. I wouldn’t push past 17-22psi (depending which one) personally but for a replacement stock with a bit extra boost they are worth the price.

    I've had the Gt28 on my car running around 370hp for many years and I kick it's head in constantly and with no issues at all. I hope to buy the gt30 or 35 next to up my power again and yes I will kick it's head in every time I use it again 😂 I can't wait

    I'm running a cheap turbo on my compound turbo TD5 running 35+psi, the only problem I have encountered is that there is small amounts of oil coming from the seal on the exhaust side, that is my fault though, because the angle I have put the oil return but I am fixing that

    I love $200 turbos they are what keeps me in business. Folks you get what you pay for! Don’t go cheap on a turbo. There is a lot that goes into more modern turbos, especially VGT turbos…

    So put that on your truck.when you want stututu noises without dealing with pay 1100$ for a new one. For those who dont know, that noise makes your turbo hate life
