@TheBigChad
Жыл бұрын
@@justvincentf that’s turbo flutter. And it’s not from lack of wastegate. You literally HAVE to have a wastegate. You get flutter from the blowoff valve. Either the spring is too stiff or he doesn’t have a blowoff valve at all. Which is harmless. Unless you are making so much boost that it’s sending air back through the turbo it tries to spin the compressor wheel backwards. That’s the only time turbo surge, turbo flutter, compressor surge, whatever you wanna call it, it’s the only time it’s bad. But in this guys case it’s absolutely harmless. I actually prefer the sound of flutter over a blowoff valve
@justvincentf
Жыл бұрын
@@TheBigChad the entire reason that compressor surge happens is because the pressure differential can cause flow in the wrong direction if not mitigated, which can cause stresses in the axial thrust direction of the impellers, which aren't really (even though they can handle it) meant to loaded like that, even with thrust bearings. People run turbos without properly sized wastegates all the time just for this particular sound because "JDM lol"

There’s a good write up and video online testing these turbos and basically they are pretty good just don’t push them too hard over stock limits. There coilovers are alright for the price but get the adjustable dampening ones and use them like stock ones. But yeah turbos are solid plus there’s not much to a turbo so they can be made pretty cheaply and efficiently. I wouldn’t push past 17-22psi (depending which one) personally but for a replacement stock with a bit extra boost they are worth the price.

My buddy has had a MST for I can't even remember how long now and his car is just as fast and reliable as it was with a precision turbo that was expensive AF in comparison....... does just as well.
I used this turbo on my silverado 5.3 with the wastegate shut its a fun turbo doesnt make the most power i think it maxed out like 800hp+ but fun stuff and have been using it for about 2-3 years no no issues
Those brand turbos, especially the gt35 variants have been thoroughly tested at high boost levels for long lifespans and some guys have done back to back dyno runs and the perform very close with name brand options/ originals that the mxr brand is copying
Turbo doesn’t really matter if it’s big, just never ever cheap out on your wastegate. I have a $400 eBay turbo on my s2000 but I have the top of the tippy top of the line waste gate and it holds boost so very well. I’m making 722 to the wheels on an 82mm eBay turbo

Homie spent $0 on a wastegate. Compressor surge is constant sound like from the video
@TheBigChad
@justvincentf
The 6.Oh sounds so good!
I've used Chinese turbos for 10 plus years I have a dozen higher dollar ones. I currently have a 7875 over a s488 compound setup in my cummins that makes 110psi. It's been on the truck like that for 2 years but I've used and owned each turbo for about 5 years. These turbo do not fail because of their build quality but because of user error.

@jim9983 the guy who runs the Channel keeps taking my link down . I tried to show you. Look for a thread with my name on cummins forum decided to switch it up that's my current build . Under my name is a thread from 4 years ago labeled he351cw over gt45 that will have screen shot of me making 70 psi at 2300 rpm that's half way through my rpm band it also shows 5 boots exploding into peices. x psi doesn't equal x hp ever . The turbo compressor map will show hp that can be made .
I love the surge from a high power diesel, sounds like a damn transformer.
Fords need all the help they can get especially the power chokes

Nice to see you on yt
There’s a good write up and video online testing these turbos and basically they are pretty good just don’t push them too hard over stock limits. There coilovers are alright for the price but get the adjustable dampening ones and use them like stock ones. But yeah turbos are solid plus there’s not much to a turbo so they can be made pretty cheaply and efficiently. I wouldn’t push past 17-22psi (depending which one) personally but for a replacement stock with a bit extra boost they are worth the price.
Should prolly get a larger blow-off/diverter to prevent the turbo flutter or the bearings and seals will fail real soon.
Blow off sounds awesome on that rig.

That’s not a blow off. That sound happens when you don’t have one. It’s compressor surge
So the thing is, they work. The issue is, they usually don’t handle thrust loads well and self destruct. Higher the boost, more thrust load
They actually make decent products for the price lol.
Wow. It's hard to find a 6.0 still running. How old is this video? Was this recorded in 2010?
Love how as he clicked, his hand got so dirty😂 love motor work
hearing STUTUTUTUTU from a truck is a new one for me
Usually they just don't last as long, they're more prone to failure If they're over-oiled which will push past the seals, and the wheel and compressor designs are just "outdated" but typically they work just fine. I had one 150 dollar turbo a traded for a video game and it lasted through 4 cars and 5 engines.
'maxpeedingrods' as a name pertains to how much faster you can make your rods exit the block.

Let’s just say that when the turbo goes out, so will the truck...
Maxspeedingrods going legit in my books
Since the high dollar oem is made in the same plant in China it will probably last just as long.
The BOVs bless you truck
I've seen a lot of those come in that have failed. Being in the turbocharger industry, we know failure causes by inspection. Those usually fail due to premature thrust wear and miscut parts. We usually end up selling one of our stock upgrades or a S frame replacement. Something to think about when you're price shopping for performance parts...
I cant imagine it will last all that long with compressor surge like that. But it makes choo choo noises.
