TESTED! Royal Enfield 462 Himalayan 0-60 & full details! | 40 Horsepower!

It's not the #2024 liquid cooled model, but a 2019 air/oil cooled 40 HP beast. Will it be faster than the new 452cc motorcycle? I don't know, but I set a baseline number:
13:18 for results.
Thanks Gearhead Junction building my motorbike. Used tons of ‪@HitchcocksMotorcycles‬ parts. What do you think @Royal Enfield North America? Want to go for a rip? :D

It is SO much more rewarding to upgrade a bike that you like, rather than just sell it and buy the new model. I have done everything bar the big bore kit on my 2019 BS4, old school style bike that GOES, and I am very happy!

That is too awesome to hear on your build! Have you noticed a big difference in performance or any at all?

Will also be curious to see the dyno. I'm wondering whether to get an older 411 and upgrade or go for the new one. From what I understand from your 10 questions vid is that the only dyno you have says 31HP (crank) and you're, maybe, optimistically hoping the last few mods you did since get you another 9?

Almost spot on..but, This estimate is based on the fact that I had a bad piston they had scraped the cylinder and had a compression loss when I did the original dyno. I also changed out computers for a better computer that makes a big seat of the pants difference feel. Luckily, I may be getting a liquid cooled Himalayan 450 to go along with my air cooled Himalayan and I can answer the question for you . :)

I can get 7 seconds 0 to 100kph. On my 443cc Overbored Himalayan. But I have a Delkovik Header, no air box a 34mm Throttle body and use a Reprogramable ECU so no FuelX ( FuelX does not alter timing by the way) between 6000 and 7500rpm is the sweet spot.

Unless I see a dyno I doubt the 40hp claim. Our 500cc carby bikes which are the easiest to optimize get to 35 RWHP - so unless you mean BHP 40 is unreal.

Interesting build Andy! I have a concern with your gas mileage. We get 72 MPG average all day and night. Been following Himalayan videos for over a year. IMO 75 is top speed on the Himalayan. I believe you recorded 82 months ago. Bikes not heavy enough. Ever get the wobbles from going to fast? We used to on skateboards! Concern...not criticism! Colors are gorgeous in your area. What you do is RAD! That Himalayan is RAD! What does your neighbor helper think? Great drone shots! Ride Safe!

I love this comment. So many great questions/comments. I’ll try and answer them all. I’ve never gotten 72 miles per gallon. I am sure it has to do with the way I ride. If I rode slow 35-45 mph on twisty back roads I could get that on a stock bike. Highway commuting at very high speed is another story. 82 mph was my top speed with an open air filter and a base powertronics tune. if you watch my full video, you see that I got one extra tooth front sprocket that reduces my acceleration, but makes a higher top speed and lower RPM at any given speed. The higher horsepower will let me get a higher top speed as well. I got wobbles when my rear suspension was set too soft and my tire pressure is too low. But I never have wobbles otherwise. The bike is not very heavy, but it definitely can support a triple digit top speed. Thanks for the kind words I will keep trying to put out good content and yes the colors are pretty cool.

Sounds to me that a Tenere 700 would be more your style. Spending what you have ( not including all the time) and what you seem to enjoy, I truly think a Tenere would be more your style. For me, the 16T pinion and TEC cam suited me fine. If I want more, I will look at a different bike.

Well…I think a stock Himalayan motor is just about perfect and I never reccomend building this bike for HP for a price point, it’s not worth it. In my case, I needed to rebuild my motor and the cost for a big bore kit was the same as a stock motor. So, it was kinda a good choice for me. Cheers!

Great mods ! How is it at “exploring speeds” of 5 - 10 mph that a beginner motorcyclist might start out on when riding mild dirt, gravel roads & walking type trails?

  • @MCCJustMotos

    @MCCJustMotos

    9 ай бұрын

If the Himalayan is 10 of 10 for beginner low speed dirt road riders..this is 8 of 10. Powhar is a little less forgiving down low. I mean it makes more power down low, but the stiff clutch makes it a bit harder to learn, and it will stall out at a tad higher rpm. Aka a little less forgiving.

Okay, so it's nice to see that the himalayan is capable of these type of improvements, however how much did all the parts cost, and how much did the labour and parts cost in US dollars? I live in the UK, but I'm intruiged to know. Keep up the good work and God bless. 👍🏿

Great comments ( I get your questions a lot, lol). It cost about $3000 in parts alone and it would have been at least $1500 each rebuild. However, Gearhead Junction partnered with me and it was free labor on the last rebuild. I personally don't think it's worth the $$$ to make the build. However, as I mentioned in my video, I needed to perform a rebuild anyway and the Big Bore upgrade was about the same cost as stock rebuild. Cheers!

@MCCJustMotos wow!! I guess that's almost if not the same cost of the bike new? What I will say is that at present, I still really love the rugged look of this bike, and if I bought one, I would do the upgrade if I intended to keep the bike for at least 5 years because you would really enjoy the journey and ownership. I think you should do a video addressing this and then give your opinion why you would do it and why you wouldn't and the pros and cons of both. You are doing a good job of bringing new content to this platform, so please continue and tha ks for replying. I look forward to more future content. 👍🏿

Why do you say that? I had to replace my broken engine after 11,000 miles. That used a cast piston. This is a forged piston. Plus it revs way lower for any given speed) less stress and heat) 700 rpm less. Your comment makes no sense to me? 🤔
