🔥 TESTED: F150 Fuel Economy, beach towing power, recoveries + more!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
keys2adventure.com.au/bush2be... | ⛽ Is the F150 a fuel guzzler? Does it have enough power to tow the CrossTrak on soft sand? You're not the first to ask, so it's time to put the BUSH2BEACH #F150 to the test. As usual not everything goes to plan, with an unexpected beach recovery on the way! 😮
After a quick fuel up in Brisbane, Jase and his good mate Stewie head up the Bruce Highway and turn off onto Bribie Island, simulating how the average punter might use the Bush2Beach F150 Lariat + Jayco CrossTra combo should they win the major prize.
The boys don’t have to wait long to put the F150’s power to the test, as they come to the rescue of a local who has been stranded on the soft sand and needs some urgent assistance.
With their good deed for the day out of the way, the boys then effortlessly scoot up the soft sand beach with the Jayco CrossTrak in tow, before turning around and heading back to the highway for the journey home.
How did the epic Bush2Beach combo perform as both a touring rig and as an off-road machine? And how did it perform in terms of fuel economy?
Watch to find out in this ALL-TIME F150+ CrossTrak ‘BUSH2BEACH’ Field Test.

What an awesome gesture to help the young fella out. Helping a mate! Steve 🇦🇺
What a top bloke for getting in there and lending a help.
Bloody legend Jase, so good that you stopped to help. I was wondering if the economy test may take priority. You are a true champion mate.
Jase your definately the MAN bro....having a person as yourself on the team is a massive plus..
What a beast...plenty power for the work trailer during the week....towing everyone else's fallen forts...then time to hook up the toys for the weekend! Legends always helping people out.
Whatever happened to the full towbar not just a piddly little bolt on plate
@4wdtennessee459
Жыл бұрын
Those do good if they are bolted on and then welded. I had one on a F450 and would haul 15,000 pounds regularly and never showed and signs of it trying to come loose. Also I had one on a little Nissan truck that was only bolted and it was always coming loose just driving around with nothing on it.
The recovery situation in your vlog presented a similar issue during Smart Touring System (STS channel) while travelling through Arnheim land, (check out hooked on Arnheim land)he mentions feedback from other travellers that tow bars are being tampered with causing the van to unhinge from the tow vehicle! As the driver in your vlog said you can’t get any road side assistance on certain tracks.
Onya mate and thanks for the chat yesterday in Sydney🤙
Good job Jase.👍
Legend for helping out
The size of the truck plus small van plus beach and recovery 16 plus L/100km not bad at all.
So glad that camper come off where it did and not out on the highway somewhere 😳,hate to think what would of happened then, top bloke mate awesome you helped him out.
What a Mickey Mouse hitch on that dudes tow vehicle.
I would be interested in the comfort of the seating for the long hauls as most 4x4's are not all that comfortable. Cheers
nice f150
The ECU was adjusted to suit the new rolling diameter of the 35's?
Great review on the F150 & one that particularly interests me on the real world fuel consumption with the V6 petrol engine. Very surprised & impressed with the fuel consumption, especially given that it is a petrol engine. I always thought that you would never be able to get under 20L/100km (unladen) for the F150. My biggest gripe with the F150 is no diesel engine, which in my opinion would’ve been perfect for its purpose with heavy towing. An equivalent size twin turbo diesel would’ve much more torque down low where needed & superior fuel economy, especially mated to the 10 speed auto. Though your test figures have got me really interested in looking at the F150 as a viable option. You’re a true Aussie Legend in helping those folks out…..perfect timing hey?
Nice truck those trucks are the best for 4x4 from Canada 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Sick mate
I cannot believe someone dared to sell this poor guy on the idea that he could tow that big ole trailer with that bumper hitch setup. That would barely pull a stand up jetski trailer or a small dirt bike trailer, let alone a big camper like that. Excellent on you guys to stop and help him out.

@@ekkacullenful sure, but if the company that made the rear bar didn't know what he was towing then it's kind of a moot point. Or maybe he walked into a dealer without a camper or a tow hitch and they sold him that combo. It's too easy to make fun of the driver, but I refuse to believe he wasn't duped somewhere along the way.

The bar in question is an aftermaket drivetech rival bar, very well known brand and are rated to 3500kg towing. At the time the ball weight was 280kg. This bar is more than capable but in my instance, The bar in question had a recall done for the bolts supplied being of a wrong pitch/length back in January , this information wasn't passed on to me from the manufacturer or the seller. Hence all cost/damages are being cover under warranty
great job Jase and boys.... who the hell installed that towbar and what bloody brand is it?
Cool
I'm looking to replace my LC79. Where can I find more info on the 150?
The old Amarok, so one up north where the coronations vibrated the bullbar off.
Is the stove top set up wrong ? .. glass top seems to be wrong How do you cook with the awning arm there
Doesn’t anyone use the exhaust air bag jack anymore? Especially in sand recoveries.
Poor Bloke!
I'm a local and have never ever seen caravans towed up the beach on Bribie its always way to soft and cut up even camper trailers either have a hard time or don't make it. The inland track has been closed since March and still is because the underground aquifer is still flowing out - driving to WW2 sites closed most likely forever. But hay its all about looking good for the cameras, who cares about the tides and beach or let alone needing a permits - so where's Simon?
How are these rigs off road compared to a 200 or y62, weighing up buying one
WOW . 👍
Question guys !!!! When are u guys going on a adventure again?? Ya channel has changed in so many ways get back to the full on recovery’s and water crossings and just back to country!!! Send it guys it’s been to long
Bounce on the beach entry! Be careful when you open your beers LOL another reason you should pay be let down the tyres even though your vehicle can handle dragging it to stop at dancing so much?
that is the dream set upfor me and my missus for our lap next year. I just got in the draws to win!! The average fuel consumption is insane
@OTRWA

Yeah I thought that fuel would disappear...pretty good considering the power
How "lucky" was he to drop the trailer in soft sand and not on the highway, which could have been fatal.
a kangaroo jack saves a bit of sweat xD
Don’t you boles carry hi lift jacks? 2 jacks would have had that van lifted in less than half the time it took you using a jockey wheel. The other take away was how many mods you did to the F150. I’d have targeted a review of what the vehicle was like off showroom floor. Not after you threw another +$10K at it.
I wonder when the F150 lightnings are going to get to Australia - They are awesome!

KZread, great for “I better check that” 1 lose bolt on the rear bar. Just towed 6 weeks no issues. But a single lose bolt found is an extra like for the channel.
Everyone after watching this video will be checking their tow bar bolts are tensioned 😂

I own an amarok and have towed a van at the tow hitch limit for a about a thousand k,s ,I would say that the bouncing of the van on that track may have exceeded the capacity of the tow hitch or it was a late Friday build.

Is the F150 a full time 4X4
16.6 lph that's really good
I am sure this thing is great though it is just too big to make any sense to me plus with people towing and driving higher and higher loads they need a system for towing like they have for truck licences.
Good 2 see you guys helping those ppl out. Ayy.. Ye gr8 big pig ov a truck ye. Bt it's not much t look at.. Not in to it... Massive as....
Maybe it’s just the angles but that kitchen looks unusable. No room to stand and cook between fridge if it’s out and the awning leg sits exactly where you stand. Kitchen looks like it should be reversed so you stand under awning. I could be wrong but doesn’t look very user friendly at all. 🤷♂️
who would tow with a hitch receiver like that off roading is just asking trouble
Have you put a rust proof system in before taking it on the beach. I wouldn’t want a vehicle with salt under it. Secondhand or not.
I passed you when you were filming the trailer that came off !! Sorry I didn’t help. But you had it sorted haha
Hi! I enjoy watching your videos, if you could add the Turkish language under subtitles it’ll make it easier for me to understand. Cheers
If the engine has been boosted/ altered how can I compare fuel economy ?

Should the emergency brakeaway wire should be on the car not the tow bar.
hi
Better L/100km than my unladen 6G75 Pajero.🤦
2$ a liter 32$ 100k unloaded
Why would you want to drive this when you can drive a cruiser or patrol?
@danielcantrill3104

More power actual tow haul mode in the transmission. Plus I can’t see a cruiser or patrol getting any better fuel economy than this
Wow 16 L to a hundred for a turbo petrol towing on sand /highway combined is incredible, diesel is honestly obsolete, don't forget diesel is more expensive to buy than petrol

Very surprised with the fuel consumption that is good loaded up 👍👍. vw tow bar that was disappointing and out right dangerous.👎👎👎👎.
The ecoboost is garbage. The 5.0 is a superior platform for towing and all around truck utility.
Truck exhaust note is sucking my will to live. 🤮
Why would you lower yourself and drive a Ford hero car??? What a crap box, no wonder they’re giving it away 😂
Too bad it sounds like poo. Awesome vehicle apart from the sound.
