    Hopefully not to late answer, those 3 pins are for the coil, if you have two wire coil (standard one) you connect holes on the edges, if you have 3 wire coil (center tapped one) then third wire goes in the middle, as it comes from the center of the coil, both ways should work. Yes its harder to push those things in, however it is meant to. Regarding the melting, try to limit the current being drawn. Cheers.

    @tuesss

    No, please don't do that, you will melt the transistors if you limit the current. This circuit needs a sudden jump in voltage (and current, of course) to operate properly, otherwise it just burns itself. According to the page linked to in another comment here, the circuit needs about 7.5 A @ 12 V.

    I have no idea what that blue terminal block is for either. The wire of the coil is too thick to fit, which causes the block to get damaged when you force it in. The damaged block has too much resistance, heats up, and melts. I blew my mosfets because of this. The coil disconnected, causing the mosfets to blow...

    I saw a schematic for an induction heater with an included parts list that listed one of these as a component. After receiving it and getting to look at it in close detail I realized that the parts list essentially were all the parts to build one of these from scratch, plus this, the end-product of the how-to, already built and just needing the power supply and the coil attached :P Anyway, thanks for showing off the flaw of using the clips so I could skip straight to the solder join you used after the initial test!

    Adding capacitors in parallel might help reduce heat/load on the capacitors itself. How could one reduce the heat of the coil without a fan, or pumping water through it? I have tried to mess around with the windings but is not effective in keeping the coil cool. Your help would be appreciated.

    Hi there. Nice demonstration. I am doing the exact same setup but my adjustable powersupply doesn't seem to power it correctly. I set the voltage limit to 12v, and as I increase the ampere limit, current and voltage rise from zero until voltage stops at 3.2 and amperage stoped at 5 (the limit of my power supply). These values don't change when I put something metal into the coil, however the transistors and circuit board heat up slowly until it wants to get way too hot and start melting. Is this a short somewhere? I have two of these boards from the same order and they both do the same thing: Powers the LED, gets really hot on the board, but doesn't heat a metal object placed inside the coil. Any guesses would be appreciated. Thanks!

    I think you need to start at working voltage (5-12V) for this to oscillate and work properly. Try not increasing the voltage but starting with it...

    5 Amps is FAR too low for this to work properly. You will blow the Mosfets, since your supply is dropping the voltrage into an unsafe operating region. You need 10 Amps at least.
