Great video. Very informative. I applied Rubio Monocoat to a coffee table and was surprised that water rings occurred almost instantly after sitting a glass on it. I did not however wet with water prior to finish and only applied 1 coat. I’m going to sand it down and try your method.

Thanks a lot! Two coats will help to repel water better. You may want to let Rubio cure for 1 week before the water test.

Am I weird that I REALLY like the soft look of GF HP FLAT on walnut?? I like the grains of walnut to look sort of mellowed and smoothed out instead of in-your-face popping out.

Your videos are all very informative and love that you did very thorough experiments. Interesting that the higher grid is actually less smooth. I never tried this product, but I did see some video mentioning water pop the wood after using higher grid, then apply Rubio directly, no sanding. Their argument is that the water helps open the grain so Rubio can bond better. Not sure if this helps

It depends on ventilation condition. I usually wait about 3-4 hours. You can tell when the wood changed back to raw wood color.

Great video! I was just wondering how long you waited before applying the second coat? i definitely like the two coat option for rubio monocoat

Thanks for the video ! Did you use water or mineral spirit or nothing to wipe off after sanding with the 3M pad between the two coats of Rubio ?

For 2nd coat, no need to use water or mineral spirit. After sanding with maroon pad, just vacuum and wipe the surface with paper towel. Then apply 2nd coat.

Yep! Especially for walnut.

Top tip: watch at 1.5 times playback speed

What I can say is - to heck with Arm R seal, and it's couch. The couch can be ruined. That couch must be destroyed, mangled and banished.

Well, because sometimes music is good. Not this time however. This time I decided to go to my garage to locate a tent stake. Once I located it, I drove it straight through my eardrums - in one side and out the other. That did the trick, and I was then able to enjoy the video which was otherwise very helpful and well done.
