Amethyst frequently shows color zoning, with the most intense color typically found at the crystal terminations. One of a gem cutter’s tasks is to make a finished product with even color. Sometimes, only a thin layer of a natural, uncut amethyst is violet colored, or the color is very uneven. The uncut gem may have only a small portion that’s suitable for faceting.[9][10]
The color of amethyst has been demonstrated to result from substitution by irradiation of trivalent iron (Fe3+) for silicon in the structure,[4][11] in the presence of trace elements of large ionic radius,[3] and, to a certain extent, the amethyst color can naturally result from displacement of transition elements even if the iron concentration is low. Natural amethyst is dichroic in reddish violet and bluish violet,[4] but when heated, turns yellow-orange, yellow-brown, or dark brownish and may resemble citrine,[12] but loses its dichroism, unlike genuine citrine. When partially heated, amethyst can result in ametrine.

How cold are the stones?
I still can not make out how this conductivity test be carried out without circuit completion. Testing stone must be placed on a conductor which is in turn connected with one pole of battery.

I tested my kidney stones with this instrument, and most of them are diamonds. Thanks to Mr agate TV, I would have struggled if he didn't show me how to use the diamond selector ll properly and especially on how to replace the battery 🤤

Most of these stones are quartz. This product makes accurate measurements up to a certain carat to measure the stones on the rings.

You need to set the tester at 1 green bar if it is a gem it will reach 6 or 7bars if it's a diamond it will reach full red putting it on too much green a lot of rocks will show read it's not proper to use it that way

The harder you press the higher the reading also. Everything can test positive as diamond even a concrete brick when one does not calibrate the instrument. You can even get those false positive readings through the rubber cap that covers the probe. I know because I'm a dude and didn't bother to decipher simple instructions and pushed until it worked thinking I'd bought junk. Lol. I bet a frozen dog turd would test positive as diamond if one wishes it to. 🤔

Ridiculous! Just an illiterate and unprofessional person is wasting time.
This is a waste of a video as it has no explanation of what the heck he is doing or thinking! I have this tool and if you are serious about identifying gems accurately you will need other tools that gemologists use. Yes this tool can check out real diamonds but it will also test diamond positive for lab diamonds like moissanite. For coloured gem stones you will be able to identify glass fakes but that is about it. You cannot rely on this to identify all coloured gems. Especially testing roughs like what he has can be even more misleading.
