NEVER Trust A Diamond Tester... Here's Why (Scam Alert)
Ғылым және технология
I wanted to share this video on why you should never trust an inexpensive diamond tester when purchasing a diamond. Natural diamonds, lab diamonds and moissanites will all give positive readings claiming that the stone is a diamond. This is why it's incredibly important to purchase your diamond from a reputable seller who provides you with the proper GIA, IGI or AGS report for the specific diamond you're purchasing.
To be clear, there are more expensive testers that can distinguish between natural diamonds, lab diamonds and moissanites. While not always 100% accurate they are less likely to give you a false positive. Always get diamonds checked by a professional before purchasing.

That tester is a thermal conductivity tester, not electrical conductivity. Moissanite is thermally conductive like diamond. Diamond isn’t electrically conductive except for type 2B. Better testers differentiate between moisanite and diamond based on this.
What's the moral of the story?! Don't buy diamonds! Instead, buy moissanite. 😁 As moissanite are getting the same results regarding el. conductivity, hardness. They even sparkle more. Plus they are cheaper. Don't be a fool and fall for overpriced stone when you can have pretty much the same stone for a fraction of a price. Mind you, I have both - a diamond and a moussanite ring. And I love moissanite more 😉

Moissonites are really worth more ya know? They're easier to make, can come in a plethora of color combinations even able to mimic SPHENE, they have up to 3× the color refraction than a standard diamond. Cheaper price and similar hardness on the mohs scale. Not AS high as diamonds but a good proper Moissonite will land a 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale. I have a couple rings of them, ive seen moissonite come in Blue, Green, Teal, Pink, White, Yellow, Champaign, and even dabbled into color duos making some that mimic Sphene. Its only cheap cause we learned how to make it in a lab. Diamonds nowadays should also drop in price because of lab created abundance but the market doesnt want you to know that because then they make less money on a "timeless gemstone".

That’s why they’re afraid of Moissanite, which is NOT cheap in the way its detractors mean. It is a beautiful stone and, unless you are able to buy a diamond ring that will increase in value, that’s what you should opt for in an engagement ring. The normal run of diamond engagement rings are a waste of money and many men put themselves into unnecessary debt because they don’t want others to think they are mean.

@@leonalyon8201 Moissanite, in it's natural form, is rare. Only about 14-15 karats have been found. Lab grown is still moissanite just as lab grown diamond is still diamond. Moissanite is NOT a diamond, nor is it a synthetic diamond. It's a different stone. It shines more, has more fire than diamond. And is nearly as hard as a diamond. That's why moissanite will test as diamond. These testers test hardness. Moissanite barely rates below diamond, but is prettier. A cheap moissanite is not a good stone anyway. Don't buy cheap diamond testers period and the one your using not designed for Moissanites. The most effective way to tell Moissanite apart from a diamond is to use a loupe to look through the top, or the crown, of the jewel at an angle. You will see two slightly blurred lines that indicates a double refraction, an inherent quality of Moissanite. Double refraction is easier to see in some shapes than others
My blue sapphire is showing diamond but my yellow diamond doesn’t .
The diamond tester measures heat flow. The conductivity test is to insure that you are not touching metal with the probe.

I went to a jewelry store in Houston and they actually had a sign saying that there were moissanite or diamonds on pendants or necklaces so I trust them if they actually tell you a they are. You can also tell very easily, The difference between a moissanite and diamond. Diamond has more of a white reflective rather than a fire reflection of a moissanite. The moissanite on the hardness scale is right under a diamond so of course it’ll show 10 on the diamond tester. I’m a diamond type of guy lol. Got some good deals last weekend!

What we take from this is that you are paying $7000 for the brand and certificate of a “Real“ diamond when in fact a Moissanite is a real diamond and will last you as much as a “real“ diamond just not marketed enough to cost $7000. there is no difference between a lab created diamond and one harvest from the earth. Moissanite is also sold by Tiffany and big brands and its just 1 step less hard than a diamond. That was unethically sourced by violence in some country.
