6-6-2022: In the early afternoon sunset on the Smokey Mountains & Gatlinburg mainline, ex-N&W 1218 is seen rescuing a failed coal drag as ex-SLSF 1522, painted up for the Autumn excursion season as the infamous creepypasta ghost locomotive Clinchfield 311, passes by with a Harvest Moon excursion.
It's unclear why such a controversial decision to repaint the engine was made, as the nearby Black Mountain Scenic Railroad owns CC&O 311, the 2-8-0 which the creepypasta failed to recognize - but it's possible the manager saw a money making opportunity in the younger enthusiasts who idolize the poorly-thought out internet story.

I like how you depicted Clinchfield 311 as a normal steam locomotive. I like it more that way than how people depict 311 as a cringy ghost engine character like KaneFan701 and other people do. Nice work BTW.

Hey, thanks. Yeah, a neighboring scenic road saved the OG 311 (the 2-8-0) in my headcanon, whilst 1522 was painted up as the "fake 311" as part of a marketing ploy to get the younger railfans (who think the creepypasta actually happened) to empty their wallets just to ride behind the engine.

well yes even tho im good stay with 2-8-0 with CRR 311 whistle
In the back story it was said that 311 was sent to replace a 2-8-0. It was most like the original but pushed back it’s scrapping date to fit the timeline. But I’m pretty sure nobody stuck around long enough to hear that. Which is probably the reason this is so overlooked

Sorry bud, but that did not happen irl. Clinchfield 311 was an H4-class 2-8-0 which was built in 1909, had a normal, but very full life for such a small engine, & scrapped in 1951. A diesel was its replacement.
