I'm Asian and I knew literally nothing about ice dance until last month when I discovered Virtue/Moir 2018 Olympic free dance. This guided me to discover other routines they did and now I'm officially obsessed. I know that so many fans of V/M are a little disappointed that they don't share a romantic relationship in real life, and in fact married to other people and are parents (There's a rumor that Tessa is pregnant) I'm here to say that what they have is one of the most beautiful relationships which many people don't get to experience in this world. There's no romance, there's no lust in their relationship but what they do have is a very deep platonic love for each other. This form of love is the closest form of love to what I believe is true love (As true love is often unattainable because it's selfless) because there are no conditions, no standards, no lust involved. Their love for each other is purely unconditional and driven by their urge to mutually encourage each other to do better emotionally, physically, socially and maybe spiritually throughout their journey. Ice dance itself is a sport that involves two people who can collaborate or blend with each other to create a beautiful work of art. They once stated that they believe that they are an extension of each other when they dance. They danced together for 22 years. I repeat. 22 years!! The level of understanding, empathy and patience they had practiced for each other must be so immense because it's not easy to collaborate for with a person who has an entirely different personality of his/her own for 22 years! I think one of the reasons they hug before every routine (Oh, those hugs are just so profoundly beautiful in a way that it pulls all your heart strings!) is to assure each other that they are going to perform well and also to ease each other's anxiousness. Those long hugs help them to keep their heartbeat at the same pace and slow it down (This is a researched fact) so that both of them contribute to the program to their best. This is sooooooo beautiful!! I really want to experience a relationship like this. Believe me when I say this, they are literally soul mates, and they don't have to be romantic partners to be so because what they have is purer and deeper than that. The love they have for their life partners must be wonderful but, when Tessa and Scott are on the ice, it just transcends every other relationship they have. Isn't that just so beautiful? I guess that's what I want in a relationship, that kinda love.

To those you don't know: this wasn't the original routine of Moulin Rouge in the 2017-2018 season. After many defeats by Papadakis/Cizeron in the Grand Prix competition, they re-choreographed the whole routine during the Christmas holidays, made it more dramatic, more exciting, and much more difficult than the prevous choreography. They debuted this brand new routine in the 2018 Canadian championship, which was only one month before the Olympics. This was really a leap of faith. I still remember the goosebumps I had when I first saw the beautiful routine at the Canadian Championship and in the Olympics, of course. Almost 5 years later, this is still one of the most beautiful performances in the Olympics history, and the determination behind this final routine is still as inspiring 👏
@rosanishina5097
Жыл бұрын
Since their return to the ice in 2016 Virtue and Moir have systematically won Papadakis and Cizeron including at the 2017 worlds. During the 2017 season Papadakis and Cizeron obtained higher scores in competitions in which Virtue and Moir didn'tt participate, which is why they modified their program by adding difficulties and the incredible final lift. Papadakis and Cizeron defeated Virtue and Moir at the 2017 GPF, presumably because Tessa and Scott's performance wasn't as stellar as usual. Finally, what made the difference for the Olympics was the mental, physical and material preparation. on all these points the Canadians were outstanding competitors.

They maintain that their relationship is very hard to define, but that they are not a couple and if they were they would have announced it when they were on Ellen. And I kind of believe them when they say that, but it's also obvious that they love each other and not just in the way that friends do. I think they put that love aside *off* the ice to be able to portray feelings like passion and jealousy the way they do *on* the ice. So I'm hoping they'll start dating after they have officially retired (could be in July, I think). Or maybe they are already dating and deny it when asked by reporters as to don't take the focus away from the beautiful perfomances they've worked so hard for. It's really hard to say with these two:D

Since they premiered it at Autumn Classic! From a purely dramatic perspective I actually preferred it in its pre-Nationals iteration. But I'm glad they made the changes 'cause without 'em P&C would surely have won. I don't get why the judges are so obsessed with the French... Not just their "Moonlight Sonata," but even their SD -- I mean, they're clearly one of the best teams, but why does their SD beat the Shibutanis by a mile each time? I know ice dance in particular is a very different experience in person, but, with that disclaimer, the Shibs 2017-18 SD is more inspired and has looked consistently sharper all season.
