Tesla Y Trunk rattling in seats/Seat backpanels

Just another, short explaining about what causes rattling sounds for many, or I would say all Tesla Y owners. Treat them and hear how much better it feels inside without those irritating rattling noises

This is helpful. I have. 2-month old Y and it rattles everywhere it seems but I think mostly from rear seats. I will try this when I get some time. Annoying we as owners have to do this when spending a lot of money on a car but the rattles are really taking the enjoyment away

Hi. Thanks so much for your comment. Yes, it is annoying, wouldnt take much for them to improve from start, but alas, many brands have these problems. Hope it will help you get rid of some or most of the rattling..it really is annoying. Car itself is quite amazing. Good luck, tell me how it worked out😊 Have a great day

I back seat panels a month ago. Really decreased the slightchorus of rattles as I go over large bumps. I wraped twist ties inbetween the yellow clips and the holders. In other panels i used plumber's tape which is a narrow plastic material that you can twist in to a string like form. I then inser it between the clips and their holders. Did this to the to the liftgate trim as well as frunk access cover.

Sounds like you got most of it covered and really well too😊. I'm happy it reduced some rattling. Thanks for the info, always nice to hear feedback. Have a great day and take care

See now I actually made a wrong video. Instead of seat panels, I did the panel on trunk opening door. Im sorry. Remember midpanel wad a bit tricky, yoy have to use quite a bit more force on top, cause its 'locked'more there. Will make one as soon as possible, but I had an accudent on my left hand, so im in hospital right now. Be back wednesday I think

How do you take the middle one off? The release area is very tight, and it didn’t seem right to exert so much force. I’m curious if you had a better way

The release is tight, especially on top middke where you put the 'handle'. Lift up leather part on top a little, then just work your way slowly around, it will be ok, even if it feels a little scary maybe. When putting it back on, make sure you start on top, there are 2 'hooks' there going into a little slit first, and handle can be a bit tricky to get in place again. I'm gone on work travel, but would have made a video showing..can do it when I get back

Hi. Haven't done this on Model 3, but if they have the same panels behind seats ( dont remember right now), just start in one corner and work your way around, shouldn't be a problem. The bottom of panel you glide a little up. Let me know how it went, good luck

Hello again. I'm home from hospital, but am unable right now to make a video, I need both hands, and my left is in bad condition right now. The middle cover IS difficult, but try this: The latch housing is held into the metal frame of the seat via two spring clips and indeed one is supposed to pry up on the latch surrounds from the outside of the seat cover. It takes a riddiculous amount of force to cause the spring clips to release, but once that's done, the latch lifts out through the seat cover, just detach the wire harness. Then the seat back cover is free to lift away. But be careful, I know of people who broke the springs, so you do this on your own risk. Also open a little on seat top cause the cover is slided into some openings there. If you manage to get off, it might be equally hard to get back on, but have patience, and slid in cracks in top first and work your way down.

I think I have this issue on my 23 MY. I get a rattle over certain bumps from the passenger side rear seat. The only way it stops is to lay the seat back flat. I wonder if I can have this done as a service call.

Hello. Yes most definitely. If its easy for them to hear or you show recording, they will try fix. Put it up as mobile service, they will come to your place. Good luck

@IrwinFPV Both of you should keep the service appointment and see if they can fix. If not, it's most likely clips that rattles, moves, especially when road has small unevenness, bulgy parts. Good luck to you both...I have no sounds, so its quite possible to fix
