Tesla-Swapping a BMW E30 Means You'll Never Miss a Yellow Light Again

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This 1992 BMW 325i Cabrio looks like a standard build, but it's got a secret. Owner Jon Volk swapped in a Tesla powertrain and now it's an instant-burnout machine. Pretty ludicrous, Jon.

    Nasty business. Well in another 25-40 years that will be the future of the automobile. Countries around the world will be banning the sale and usage of ICE (aka Gas and Diesel) powered cars in the coming decades, especially as petroleum and gasoline start becoming prohibitively more expensive as time goes on. So whether you want to or not, the choice is clear. You don’t have a choice and you will be forced to drive an EV car in the future or you’ll just not drive.

    @@original__gmebvy how does a car with a battery have a "soul"? It's an RC car. No soul at all. A car with a "soul" is something with a heartbeat not a pulsating brushless generator. RC cars are for those who want something easy, "plug and play" comes to mind.

  • @original__gmebvy

    @original__gmebvy

    Kristopher Keller that’s like you saying that a human with a robotic heart transplant doesn’t have a soul compared to a human who still has their original heart in their bodies. That person still has a soul but their heart is mechanical and not made of fleshy organic tissue. They still send signals throughout the body by way of electrical pulses. Both humans can still do the same things for the most part with no real difference. Taking that analogy into consideration, an ICE car and an EV converted ICE car are the same vehicle and they do the same things for the most part. Regardless of their overall performance, the context of both are the same.

    That's an awesome build, I could definitely see myself doing something like this in the future but with a trunk full of batteries you can't really call it a daily driver. When the batteries get smaller and more powerful these types of build will likely become common place, I can already imagine a 50's cabby with a Tesla motor (The 5th Element?!?).

    Man!!! This is just awesome and amazing job!!! Sooo cool and I have been brain storming for a project and was stuck on gas engine but I am really considering a ranger with same type of setup. I think it would not only be no emissions and no more gas $$ but it would be down right fast and a blast!!! More so than a gas engine and probably for less money all said and done. Great video and look forward to more videos. I wish I knew around how much money I would need to do a budget minded build but yet get as much performance as possible. Like you said with your bmw weight of 2000lbs I think a small ranger with some weight reduction done wouldn’t be too much heavier. Again great video and what a great build!!

Otherwise one could call the salvage electric motorcycle as coming from a cereal box (copart being the box :P)
